It is an excellent piece, thank you for sharing it @Username65.

I do hope if there are convictions the men involved will be named and shamed and photos of them will be as widely publicised as Giselle's have been.

TheGander · 08/09/2024 21:58

Unfortunately Hadley does not have her facts right. Prior to the upskirting incident in 2020, he had already drugged and attempted to rape an estate agent in 1999. He is also suspected of the rape and murder of another estate agent in 1991.

He was found upskirting in 2010, according to the article. His wife was not aware of this- the drugging and rapes started a year later.

cathyandclaire · 08/09/2024 22:50

But, as you point out, he has likely committed many many crimes over the years, including the suspected rapes and murder in the 90s. It's horrific.

Amazing woman, so brave.

I thought I knew how appallingly women could be treated by men, but for there to be a website set up to link up men who want to rape a drugged women with the husbands who want to make this happen actually surprised me.

What disgusting lowlife scum they all are.

Husband's barrister says he's very sorry though, it was an addiction, so i suppose not really his fault.

Wtf, not really his fault?🤮 poor fucking fella

TheGander · 08/09/2024 23:00

Yes, maybe more stuff will come to light. Another possible clue to his double life is his issues with money. He went bankrupt and his wife had to bail him out, they even divorced and re married because of it .

TERFtown · 09/09/2024 00:09

Awful case.

I really hope that Gisèle and her daughter are able to get closure from this case and move forward with their lives.

As for the men, I hope every single one is imprisoned for life.

AliasGrace47 · 16/09/2024 18:14

I also think that the argument that porn has created deviant desires that weren't common in men before is wrong. Yes, it's def amplified them & caused them to seek more extreme stuff. But in Victorian times you had traffic in v unpleasant bks etc & worse, in young girls & even children. That's not new. I would argue that violent, degrading porn wouldn't be popular if the desire for it weren't already present. I don't want to believe that male sexuality is inherently about domination & humiliation (at least when directed at women , I don't know what m/m sexuality is like in comparison). I'm sure for plenty of men it's not. Maybe some men are inherently predisposed to this kind of sexuality? I hope not, but either way, society needs to make encouraging healthy male sexuality a top priority. Men need to sort this out, rather than making it our problem.

XChrome · 17/09/2024 03:12

I don't want to believe that male sexuality is inherently about domination & humiliation

Sadly, I think it probably is, Grace, at least to some degree. You only have to look at the words they use to talk about having intercourse; nailing, pounding, destroying.
You're right that porn didn't create deviant sexuality, but has definitely amplified it.

MrsWhattery · 17/09/2024 09:59

I have had the horrible thought that maybe evolution favoured aggression, rape and dominance/greater size and strength in men, as it’s more likely to result in pregnancy and pass those genes on.

Some species have evolved to give the female the choice of her preferred male and mating is impossible unless she consents, eg lots of birds. The preferred characteristics get passed on that way. But in humans “consent” is in practice a social construct and contract.

AliasGrace47 · 17/09/2024 12:38

Sadly that sounds pretty likely, MsWhattery. I hate evopsych, but worry it's often true..

MrsWhattery · 17/09/2024 14:11

I know what you mean but I'm not even sure it is psychology - size and strength are biology, and aggression can be. You can breed it in and out of dogs for example.

The issue with looking at evolutionary science in relation to present-day behaviour IMO is just that it's oversimplified and some people want to tag everything with it – but that doesn't mean it isn't sometimes relevant, or worth consideration IYSWIM.

AliasGrace47 · 17/09/2024 15:16

Yes, I think that's true. It plays a role, but people are flexible & adaptable. Sometimes that argument may have a greater role. Ofc some sexual assaults are, horribly, against young children or elderly women or men & boys, so there's no evolutionary reproductive motive there. Also some types of assault can't result in pregnancy.
I've read in National Geographic that some people can be born w, maybe inherited, tendencies to psychopathy, but a good upbringing may cancel them,or at least severely weaken them. I wonder if a tendency to sexual assault can run in families? Ofc it's hard to differentiate between a bad example & a biologically inherited tendency.

Her daughter has written a book about the crime and also launched a foundation to raise awareness of crimes committed by men who drug and abuse women.

An incredible story, I understand that when Msr.Pelicot's computers were seized Police found nude pictures of the Pelicot's daughter as well as the videos of his wife's rapes. When I first read about the case I felt Mme.Pelicot must have somehow had some kind of suspicion of the abuse she had sustained over a decade, so staggering and degenerate was the alternative, but then I tried to imagine the moment she realised that her own husband was the author of the situation and could not. I believe Mme.Pelicot was genuinely taken aback when the police explained to her what had been going on.

deeahgwitch · 03/09/2024 15:17

I sincerely hope photographs of the depraved men who participated in the appalling rapes will be shown to all and sundry so they will be forever known for their depravity.
They should be named and shamed.

My word but Gisele is one brave woman.

Certainly not all of them will be made public, a number of them with the least money and power will have their photos paraded. The rest will be protected.

TheGander · 22/09/2024 17:09

“Certainly not all of them will be made public, a number of them with the least money and power will have their photos paraded. The rest will be protected.” If this is so it’s a very poor reflection on french justice and wider society. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen this way. This case has caused shockwaves throughout France and also abroad and I’m sure the police and legal system are aware of that.

Keepingcosy · 23/09/2024 21:28

I'm just in awe of her strength and composure and wish her well going forward in her life.

Mirabai · 24/09/2024 12:27

So incredibly brave and dignified.

user47 · 24/09/2024 14:06

She is just remarkable

This lady (and her family) are the bravest people I've ever heard of

This case is horrifying and I hope she goes down in history and its not swept under the carpet once the court case is over and the media has calmed down

I've suffered sexual assault-at home,at work,just walking down the street etc-just because I'm a woman

All brushed away by my parents/the police/society

(I was sexualy assaulted at work once by a teen and the polices attitude was 'well, what do you want us to do about it?' My answer? 'Your job' didn't go down well, they did fuck all about him)

That aside,I worked with a young man who as soon as he started working with us,started following women home-he wasn't fussy-he followed any woman or girl of any age

He didn't speak to them nor touch them,he just followed them

He tried to follow me once but soon fucked off when dp came round the corner to meet me

Then he started filming them walking home and hanging around once they got in-a few times their fathers chased him away

Then he started trying to follow them into the ladies toilets, then tried to get them to 'come with me and we can walk over the local golf course as I'm going that way myself...'

He's moved jobs but I've heard he has been 'spoken to' for trying to touch women he deems 'weaker' than himself and has started trying to upskirt women-hes just 'spoken to' not arrested and charged

This is how it starts,he knows he can get away with it,his parents/family couldn't give less of a fuck and the police have 'a word' but don't do anything as he's young and autistic and is 'harmless' (utter bollocks-he knows what he's doing)

I dread the fact that if someone doesn't do something,he will be in the news in the next few years for something even more serious

Until this is taken much more seriously by everyone, another Gisele will happen-its already happening-there will be others right now

We all need to put the brakes on this behaviour in our society-every single one of us

I'm in awe of her bravery, strength and how she had made 'shame swap sides' (a a rape survivor myself,I've stopped feeling shame-that lies with him alone)

She is a heroine

theallotmentqueen · 19/12/2024 16:07

what really upsets me about this is the level of cold-blooded betrayal. It's the amount of PLANNING her husband put into it which is so gruesome - the deeply calculated element. Any form of rape is awful and sickening, but there's something about imagining this guy planning out his wife's violation - having time to really consider the consequences of his actions - which does it for me. There's something about Gisele literally developing dementia like symptoms and gynaecological problems and him pretending to care about her and be anxious. He claims to love her, but I don't understand how there can be any love in his behaviour.

TheGander · 19/12/2024 17:49

No, he’s deeply sinister. He also attempted to rape and estate agent he’d drugged, but she came to and managed to fight him off. There’s also the unresolved rape and murder of another estate agent and suspicion he did it but it can’t be proved.

TheGander · 19/12/2024 17:50

Gisèle on the other hand is a Queen among women.

deeahgwitch · 19/12/2024 18:44

What about the other 11 depraved men the French police involved in the Pelicot case failed to apprehend ?

There are 11 remaining unidentified suspects from the abuse videos.

Please please could some fantastic detective or investigative journalist catch them. 🤞🙏
