I read today that she had an STD (gynecological illness) and her husband accused her of cheating on him.

Every new revelation makes me scream in rage for her.

I think there are quite a few women who would like to tear the lot of them into shreds with their bare hands, like the Bacchae.

CormorantStrikesBack · 04/09/2024 15:01

He denies assaulting his daughter. But there are photos of her unconscious semi naked, partially dressed in her mother’s clothes on a bed! He must have drugged her if the Dd has no memories of wearing her mother’s clothes. It’s not like she fell asleep and he took a photo.

So he drugged her, stripped her, partially got her in her mums clothes, took photos, then took her mums clothes off her. And the poor woman is supposed to believe she wasn’t sexually assaulted. It’s just there’s no video or photographs so he can deny it. Sick bastard

THIS.

I think he may not have raped his daughter, but I'd be very surprised if he hadn't let others do so.

XChrome · 04/09/2024 01:35

They aren't ruled by their dicks. The real motivation is to dehumanize and harm women, to exert power over us and get their jollies from sadism. The dick is just the tool they use for that purpose. The motivation is emotional, not physical desire.

That is a really interesting perspective and needs more thought.

It’s a sad truth that a large portion of men are like this, all too willing to treat women as objects and property.

Gisele and her daughter are incredibly brave to speak out.

deeahgwitch · 04/09/2024 15:37

Any Munsnetters living in France at the moment?
What is the reaction there to this appalling case ?

HoppingPavlova · 04/09/2024 15:43

What an incredible woman! Such strength.

It is a shame all 90+ offenders weren't caught

I’ve missed something but what was the impediment with the remainder of people not caught? Were they not on film? If on film, surely just get their stills, blow up their face and publish these and ask the public who they are - they have to be someone’s next door neighbour.

murasaki · 04/09/2024 15:47

I wondered that. Amd also there may be more who weren't even on film. Gisele and her daughter are so brave.

NewGreenDuck · 04/09/2024 15:48

I would argue that undressing his daughter, dressing her in different clothes and taking photos is very definitely sexual assault. Hope the French courts think so too.

Maybe his “defence” is that he didn’t undress/redress her, that she did it and forgot 🤷‍♀️. You’d like to think with his history any court would see through it. But i haven’t read that he’s been charged with anything in relation to his daughter? Maybe they are just going after the stuff which can be more easily proven. But then no justice for the daughter.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/09/2024 16:36

This Twitter post contains clips of an interview with the daughter, Caroline Darian, on French TV (with English subtitles)

I hope the daughter had prior warning that these photos would be shown at the trial. Imagine finding it out for the first time in front of the whole world.

They are the brothers, the sons, the fathers, the uncles, the husbands and the cousins, men you know, but you dont know just what they are capable of, as I understand it, none of his family were aware (or admit knowing?) what a monster is behind the man they called, husband, father et al., they say they all thought he was a lovely family man, just like YOUR????/ A MAN in Your Life, that You think oh he is such a lovely family man, look how lovely he is, they are all out there and they are not a small minority like so many women seem to think. So sad, but so true, when I was younger I thought the men in my family were lovely, now I look back and see they are absolutely all sexist, misogynistic and quite possibly sexual abusers, and most certainly abusive to women when no one was looking.

OMG this is horrendous. How did it all get discovered in the end? I hope she’s feeling a sense of getting some agency and power back and that she can recover enough to have peace and happiness for the rest of her life. What an absolute shower of bastards.

I don’t know, I think this is definitely a powerful factor and that men want to feel power over women and in many cases hate and resent them. Many men think they should by rights own and control women and are angry that that’s denied them (as yet, in most countries…)

But I do also think there’s some kind of sex obsession in a lot of men and a prioritising of getting sexual gratification, and wanting novel sexual experiences, above all else causing them to not care about anyone else. The men who will train for years to access jobs where they can prey on children, the men who film themselves masturbating in women’s toilets, upskirting or abusing patients or dead people, the men who drug dates - and sometimes these men’s victims are male. It’s not just about hating and controlling women, there’s often an element of being prepared to do anything to get gratification instead of thinking “no that’s wrong”.

That's true if it's a particular paraphilia. I don't think most abusers of women have a particular paraphilia. They have a general fondness for anything abusive. I call them abuseosexuals. It's not about any particular act, but about whatever creepy, abusive shit they can get away with.

Yeah, most of human sexual response is about emotion, not instinct or physical desire, and that's true for both men and women. Men tell themselves it's their dicks and their caveman instincts leading them, but the gratification is emotional more than physical. Ego, rage and hate are huge drivers of male sexual behaviour, far more so than affection IMO. That's the terrible reality.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/09/2024 23:49

I believe this to be the organisation that Caroline Darian founded.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/09/2024 23:52

And here's her petition.

I hope MNHQ will allow the link to be shared here for once.

What is the reaction there to this appalling case ?

Just came back from a holiday in the area and it was on the cover of the local paper over several days. My french cousin ( not exactly representative of the whole population) told me he didn’t want to hear about it when I started telling him about the case. I like what the prosecuting barrister said “ shame must change sides “ ie the shame has always been on the woman who suffers a sexual aggression, but it’s the men who should be ashamed. They all attended court with covid masks on/ dark glasses etc and as PPs have been saying, Giselle attended openly.
Does anyone e know if the husband was getting money from the abusers , or just doing it for his sordid kicks?

The poor poor woman. What incredible bravery.

I’m appalled by the Telegraph’s reporting on this today. “Wife takes public revenge on men who raped her every night on husband's orders'”. She is participating in the legal process as is her right. I find the suggestion that waiving her anonymity is revenge incredibly offensive.

Agreed. That’s a disgraceful headline! If anyone has a Twitter account please flag it and publicly tag them.
