I am watching election news with increasing fear. The deranged Trump conspiracy theorists supporters in the US, overturning Roe Vs Wade, the far right gaining traction in Europe, some of the rhetoric here. Hell, the fact the Rwanda idea was not immediately dismissed as insane.

Then outside the West there’s the threat to women’s lives in Afghanistan, Iran…

How does this end? How does it reverse? Other than a WW2 scenario, how do we secure the safety and freedom of women and girls?

I want to be optimistic, but I’m struggling to see a route to progress. I’m hoping the much more knowledgeable souls of FWR will know.

So I googled it and apparently Labour are going to process applications and return those who fail the process.

They're going to do the work of running the country.

Ummm return them where exactly??? This is total pie in the sky - they have zero immigration policy that is workable because everyone will ‘lose’ their passport and say they come from France - where they will relaunch the boats and be back the next day. It’s entirely unworkable.

Return them to their country of origin. Like we used to. Even those who lose their documents can be processed and deported.

I think many people in the UK have lost sight of what functional government can do because of the deep dysfunction of the past 14 years.

Processed and deported where exactly? They don’t have any documentation that’s the whole point! Where do you send them?

I'm sure if you wanted, you could easily discover how people without passports are processed and deported. We've been doing it for decades. Admittedly not sp much in the last decade, but that's the Tories for you. Lazy fuckers.🙄

No, there is no way to second guess where someone is from! Would you care to explain how that happens, in full with someone unwilling to share the details.

I work in Justice and see the same Albanian gang members arrested time and again all under different names and passports. We can give them custody - they come out - get a new identity and start again.

We don’t have a worldwide database of DNA or other forms of identification and it certainly isn’t linked with origin of birth - nor is there any way to ‘prove’ where someone is from.

So unless the migrant is honest - and many aren’t - where exactly are you going to deport them to? Answer the question.

Countries don't cease to exist because someone loses their passport.

So how do you deport someone with no papers and convenient amnesia as to where they are from?

There are plenty of countries without Europe' and America's problems with illegal immigration (Japan, Singapore, Australia) - why don't we ask them? Although unfortunately Cameron bombing Libya meant it was alot easier for people to sail over from Africa -maybe those other countries have the right idea not bombing countries that are no threat to them too?

You seem to be labouring under the misaprehension that the UK is full of foreign amnesiacs wandering around pretending they don't know who they are @Meetingofminds. It's not true. Nor is it true that if someone loses their documentation they get to stay here. That has never been true. You also seem a bit wedded to the idea that because you don't know about something, it mustn't exist.

Take a deep breath and let it go. Heed the call of information. Find out how the Home Office deals with those without documents. You can do it on the internet. You have a world of knowledge at your finger tips.☺️

Can I just say that the past couple of weeks ,I have seen the most depressing and repellent discussion on this forum. Because there's massive gaps between those positions but I keep hearing them all lumped together as Far Right.
