I've signed. It's the bottom of a very high mountain unfortunately.

I am at the same time disheartened and appalled with what they have to think about and proud of them.

It’s just mind boggling. Kids asking to stop being sexualised and used in porn. It’s just a whole new level of sad.

Brilliant petition. Signed.

Young people, especially teenage girls, are so good at change and challenging crap that’s been accepted as the norm for way too long.

Good for them!
And it's good to see a school feminist society engaging with an issue of this sort.

Signed. I got Lovehoney to remove all references to "schoolgirls" in their marketing materials and I'm glad I did so. They were quick to act and agreed that it was inappropriate.

Try thinking about it from the perspective of schoolgirls being leered at by adult men.

Try also to consider why some men are turned on by school uniforms.

What about sexy nurses outfits or police women or princess dresses come to that why not ban cowboy/fireman/policeman outfits?

Ban all sex toys/aids?

God yes. If you go online to find a fancy dress/school ‘x’ say clothes it’s all ‘sexy schoolgirl’ or those Japanese schoolgirl uniforms. Yuk.

Signed, it’s the sexualisation of children. I can count on both hands the number of times I was catcalled as a child in school uniform

Because those costumes aren't designed to make the wearers look like sexualised versions of children?!

How is something you need to have pointed out?

Because schoolgirls are children. Can you not see a difference?

What a brilliant campaign! Well done to the pupils. They're right. It should have been addressed a long time ago.

Signed.

Can't those PPs really not see the difference between a police woman's costume and a school uniform? Really, really?

@BigFatLiar whilst ideally we would not be sexualising any women's job rioles, they are ADULT women. Schoolgirls are not, by definition they are children.

For those who want play that role. It's your business, but I'd ask you to think about a man who has a thing for young girls even in fantasy. You don't need dress up costumes to improvise a short navy skirt and a white shirt, they are available in the real school uniform section of any supermarket. Not turned on by that? I wonder why?

I'd rather schools not have school uniforms to break the association

It's not about you or what you find sexually attractive. No one cares. Girls and women exist. We are human. Shocking I know.

@BigFatLiar because school uniform is typically for those aged up to 16 (I know some 6th forms require it until age 18) but in general it is for those aged 16 and under.

I will admit I was fooled by the normalising of it when I was younger. I remember going out in my late teens clubbing in fancy dress as 'naughty school girls' but now I am older I realise it's actually very messed up when you think about it properly.

I was wolf whistled, cat called, flashed and masturbated at while walking to/from school from the age of 11.
