Inappropriate crisis team discharge

NotQuiteUsual · 27/09/2026 18:02

I'm being discharged from crisis team this week. I'm worse now than I was when I came under them, but they've decided all my problems are just my autism and my "black and white thinking"

Problem is I'm not able to manage basic self care, im staying in bed all day and cant be around my eldest child. Shes been replaced and wants to replace my other children. I want medication yo numb how I feel, or for.them to help me get my daughter back. But they won't listen. I think theyre replaced too tbh, this is part of their control.

They're discharging me to an autism charity thy doesnt do mental health stuff, because apparently I need to learn how my autism effects me and then ill suddenly be able to manage bathing and getting up again(which i managed fine a few weeks ago)

Have they diagnosed you with a MH condition and if so are you receiving treatment for that via the GP or anyone?

NotQuiteUsual · 27/09/2026 18:14

I've been diagnosed with lots of stuff, no one can ever agree what the problem is. My.main diagnosis was psychotic depression. But now im diagnosed with autism they keep telling me I'm not depressed or psychotic im just autistic. But ive been autistic my whole life my mental health troubles have only been for the last 3 years.

It is better to get the management on time and you will soon be able to meet your daughter as well, you can think of it as being helpful for your child as well.

wellhellohowstheweather · 27/09/2026 19:53

Do you have a partner or another adult close to you? Have you told them how you’re feeling about feeling people have been replaced? Did you tell the crisis team? If you haven’t please do tell them.

NotQuiteUsual · 27/09/2026 20:01

I've told them, I've told my husband too. Crisis team just tell me to put the the thought on a train and let it go. But it's not an intrusive thought it's reality. They said I just think that because im Autistic. But who cares why it is what it is and either give me medication that numbs me to it or help me! I want my girl back.

I called them when I first realised she'd been replaced and they were cross with me. They told me shes real and to go spend time with her. But I cant even look her in the eye. Ive been hiding in my bedroom all weekend to avoid her. I feel like we'd be in danger if she knew I knew shes fake.

Go to A&E if the discharge is unsafe and you are at risk of harm to yourself x

PurpleLovecats · 27/09/2026 20:20

This is very similar to what happened to me.

I’ve had to go private to get antipsychotic medication. It’s an absolute disgrace.

can you manage a private psych consultation?

FusionChefGeoff · 27/09/2026 23:01

You definitely need to tell people that you think your daughter has been replaced and that you are frightened of her. Can you show the Crisis team this thread to try to explain it to them?

You sound very very poorly and I’m horrified you aren’t getting any help.

Please look into this, OP. I'm sorry you're being failed so badly.

Yes, this. I think you need to ring 999 urgently and tell them your daughter isn’t safe with you there as you are a risk to her as you think she’s been replaced.

Sadly even having thoughts like this doesn’t mean you get support these days. I thought my family were all against me and had serious thoughts of harming them. The CMHT still discharged me.

I understand that - my dh has serious mental health issues and my Mum had schizophrenia but we still have to try. The alternative is to just accept things and do nothing which isn’t good for anyone either.

NotQuiteUsual · 28/09/2026 09:29

I would have gone to a+e last night but its crisis team thay deal with their mental health patients. It's the same crisis team across the whole wider area so even a different hospital will mean the same team.

Im seeing the gp later today for a heart issue, if theyre human im going to tell them whats going on.

@NotQuiteUsualSorry to hear this. Can I ask how old you are? What happened 3 years ago to start this?

66babe · 28/09/2026 10:02

So sorry to hear you are struggling so much
How old are your children ? Are they at risk from you and what do you mean about her being replaced ?
If any risk at all .. surely back to AE is the priority?

MyThreeWords · 28/09/2026 10:14

I'm a bit confused about what you yourself think your mental health problem is. Your frequent mention of your replacement theory feels like you want us to understand that you have psychosis, and I wonder whether that is the understanding you want the crisis team to have?

This absolutely. I can’t believe what I’m reading.

NotQuiteUsual · 28/09/2026 10:29

I know Ive had psychosis lots before. Or at least what professionals class as psychosis. All i know is medication makes my realisations about the world go away and numb me to the fact my daughter is replaced and make me think shes not replaced.

But every 6 months or so ive had to have my meds increased as my realisations about reality come back. Now im on the max dose of antipsychotics and a high dose of antidepressant. But they're not working anymore. I want the ignorance the medication brings. I want a different or another antipsychotic so I can go back to fitting in with this reality.

I dont want to hurt my fake daughter, I feed them, water them, wash their clothes, take them to school. They cant know I know or theyll hurt my other children. Plus whatever they are they cant fully take care of them self and my calling in life is to care for others.

Social services dont care about what's happening because my husband steps up when im stuck in bed. I dont know what to do anymore.

Crisis team just tell me its autism an give me diazepam. I dont want diazepam its stupid.

My dh has psychosis and was under the early intervention team for 3 years. He takes Olanzapine. Do you take any anti psychotic medication? Can you ask the GP to refer you to the local early intervention team? Your daughter has not been replaced and neither has anyone else. This is your illness making you think that and i think you know that to keep mentioning it so often. If that is how you feel then tell the GP ASAP.

NotQuiteUsual · 28/09/2026 10:42

I was under eip for 3 years then I timed out the service. I take aripiprazole. Crisis team said i cant have any other antipsychotics.

MurphysColeslaw · 28/09/2026 10:50

Presumably your husband knows how ill you are, is he able to advocate for you at the GP or hospital?

Anthea27 · 28/09/2026 11:28

The Crisis team seem absolutely terrible, my heart goes out to you. Can you contact EIS directly as you've been with them before? like my dh, you were only discharged as timed out, not "cured. Are you under the local CMHT? It really sounds like your anti psychotics aren't working and need changing urgently. I can only suggest you tell the GP everything when you see them, someone has to help you, they can't just fob you off, its disgusting.

LilyMumsnet · 28/09/2026 15:14

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you're going through this.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our https://www.mumsnet.com/webguide/mental-health Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website.

Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well (although we do appreciate that you have been navigating real-life support).

Very best wishes

The dr was no good. She did refer me to physio for my arm issues ive been having for months. But I explained about my daughter and how crisis team aren't supporting me. She just said its good im under them and to keep trying. They're coming tomorrow I'm going to try really hard to advocate. And explain thay I cant put these thoughts on the fucking train and watch then leave because it doesn't stop the problem.
