One major reason for poor mental health is some people want to see you suffer, surrender and die?

Anyone have insight on this that they'd be willing to comment on? Despite being resilient and doing everything- and beyond - of what is required of me in every aspect of my life, I feel I'm still not making headway. I'm a good mother, hard worker and keep myself to myself and even that is not valued. I have been to hell and back.

Advice on the thread title and the sub context is appreciated.

If your parents are unwell/ frail its a good idea to visit them. Try and detach from work, bide your time. And focus your efforts on moving on from there.
it sounds like you’re doing loads and you need to take some energy back from other things to nurture you.
you are doing the best you can. You cannot control external factors- just how you respond. Times will move on. Try not to feel bad.

That's a comment from a classic narc.

Good heavens op - you sound thoroughly unpleasant!

and if you’re in a job that promotes peoples on the basis that they don’t recieve UC or CM (although you must have told them for them to know) - well, that is very peculiar indeed

This is the approach I will take x

*Because I am a single parent and single income household? Surely that's not hard to deduce?

Let's fuck over the most vulnerable in society and blame them for it .... who are you that you do understand this simple concept*

So you don't know it for sure, you're just blaming you not getting the promotion on it.

Ohthatsexciting · 02/07/2022 08:33

You honestly think people want “to see you die”?

Ohthatsexciting · 02/07/2022 08:34

If so, I would urge you to go to the police!!

I'm not the only employee to have commented on this.

No where have I said that I blame this as the sole factor.

Have you got many friends? I think you would benefit from some nice, positive people to chat this through in real life. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate and feeling dragged down by life. Generally, people don’t want to see others suffer and die and nothing you’ve said suggests that’s the case in your life, it’s just that you’re in a tough place and it feels like that. I hope things pick up for you soon.

It is a large business with HR/legal department?

Yes, I have friends IRL but I don't want to burden them as each person has their own things to sort through

Yes but not many people think that people are out to see them “surrender and die”

Squareflair · 02/07/2022 08:43

Your job doesn't owe you anything because you're on benefits- their considerations are what's best for the business. Unless you have evidence that you were genuinely the best fit for the role (baring in mind suitability for a role isn't indicative of how decent of a person you are, how much you are loved, how much you bring to this planet and your worth- it's whether you have the best experience and skills for a job spec someone has sat down and written), then honestly part of getting to grips with my mental health was not taking things like this personally. If you had got the role others wouldn't have and they might be feeling as you are now; is it more acceptable others feel like that than you?

It does sound your view of the world is a bit left of field, are you getting support for this?

Yodaisawally · 02/07/2022 08:44

A lot of Navel gazing going in, just get on with life.

You seriously think people on UC or whatever won't be promoted?

Intheflicker · 02/07/2022 08:46

Did Aiden get the job?

I didn't tell anyone about my finances. I also have not said that that is the basis for promotion. Why is it that the government needs to prop up the wages of essential workers? Because they are more likely to be productive?

I’ll bow out
op - you sound a mixture of paranoid and, well if I’m honest, just not very nice.

nothing to be done here I reckon

Octomore · 02/07/2022 08:52

What you describe (not being recognised at work) does not equate to people "wanting to see you suffer, surrender and die". That's a major overstatement.

The work thing is crap. We've all been there, and it sucks. But you cant change other people, you can only change how you respond to it.

Left of field because I'm a 'forinner'? I'm not such a dick that I don't realise any of this. Thank you for your advice x

That's a comment from a classic narc.

Funny how you are on UC and also a fully qualified Psychiatrist as well.
Perhaps people actually ARE out to get you because you are pretty unpleasant

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 02/07/2022 08:54

Hoppinggreen · 02/07/2022 08:13

You sound somewhat paranoid, as if there is a big conspiracy against you.
The likely reality is that most people just aren’t invested enough to want you to suffer etc, you probably aren’t important enough to them.
Your lack of success/happiness etc is more likely down to internal rather than external factors

I agree.

I know soneobe who thinks like this. She has never souhht a diagnosis, but she definitely has some form of serious personality disorder.

Blowthemandown · 02/07/2022 08:56

So where you said you are doing double the work without a pay rise, could you talk to work about this? I got my job re-graded to reflect the change in responsibilities. It wasn’t quick and I had to persevere but has been worth it. You would need to write down your reasons and practise how to approach the conversation maybe.

Adversity · 02/07/2022 08:57

A persons personal financial circumstance doesn’t have any real bearing on suitability for a role. As much as being a single parent brings another layer of complexity and often hardship it’s not a protected characteristic.

You have not been promoted, you have been harassed by your neighbour, have financial issues and support parents financially at a great distance.

What you have is a very difficult life with many things pulling at you and no support. Your actual post headline indicates a level of stress that is unmanageable and I would suggest you seek help. The headline in your post indicates you think you are being persecuted which to me indicates you are beyond regular levels of stress.

Not very nice because I'm concerned about bringing money in and doing my best for my DC? Well if you think that then it is you who is not very nice.
