However small.

For me it's making 2 phone calls (not to family/friends) because it's something I find hard and often put off doing.

It's my birthday & it had a dreadful start (I have a thread about it going.)

I managed to get myself together, stop crying & get myself on the train to London. I'm determined to try & make something of the day & the weekend & not have the joy of it completely stripped by those around me who are actively trying to make my life more difficult than it already is.

rainbowninja · 01/10/2021 18:54

Happy Birthday @TodayJustIsntHappening, I hope your day has improved.

I'm proud of sticking to my study schedule and for making a healthy soup at lunch.

rainbowninja · 02/10/2021 20:56

I'm proud of myself for going out for a walk and pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

HelloMist · 03/10/2021 00:24

@rainbowninja @AllySmelly thank you for the supportive comments about nerves driving. Rainbow, what was the soup? Ally, glad the thread is helpful for you.

@KittenKong that's interesting, think I will look up foods and mood!

@Blackmagicqueen those sound delicious!

@themiserychick well done, that sounds like a really positive step!

@TodayJustIsntHappening hope you're having a better time.

(earlier in week) I gave blood for the first time! Booked it a couple of weeks ago on a day I was feeling more positive with my current meds. I'd been putting off trying, partly because it was complicated to confirm I was "allowed" for medical reasons.

I was nervous on the day but the staff there were lovely. Hoping I'll get a message through at some point to say they've been able to use my donation.

I'm in a terrible place currently so need this thread. Ive wrapped two parcels to take to the post office.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 03/10/2021 10:51

I woke up with a stinking cold but have managed to feed the pets, change my bed, shower and unload the dishwasher. Now watching netflix but feel I've achieved something to clear the crap at least.

SandysMam · 03/10/2021 18:09

@HelloMist as someone who had a life saving blood transfusion, I just wanted to say thank you! That is an amazing thing to do!
Hope everyone else is ok!

TodayJustIsntHappening · 03/10/2021 22:27

@HelloMist @rainbowninja

Thank you. I've had a lovely weekend Smile

Astrak · 04/10/2021 10:32

Got up. Cleaned teeth. Cried and wailed re deceased DCat. My beloved tabby rescue cat. Ate cheese sandwich and drank cold water.
Now pinned on "well-brought-up"face and walking down to the village.
KBO, as W. Churchill said.

KittenKong · 04/10/2021 10:37

Awww I’m sorry to hear about your cat. Head up, Chuck.

Astrak · 04/10/2021 11:42

Thank you, KittenKong. I've just paid into my electric meter top up card. Hasn't worked. WD40, paper towels etc. Hasn't worked. Phoned meter owner. Straight to voice mail. Contemplated throwing self off tall building. None available. Into fast flowing river. Horrible for the persons finding body. Worse for those retrieving it. Nothing to get hold of. Continuing to channel W. Churchill.
PS. Anyone believe in spells? Benign ones, obviously!
Another glass of cold water and tidy up, I think.

KittenKong · 04/10/2021 11:55

What’s happened with the meter? Have you tried tweeting whoever needs to pull their finger out (I have found that is the last port of call but sometimes works).

TodayJustIsntHappening · 04/10/2021 16:22

@Astrak So sorry about your cat. I hope you get the meter sorted ASAP 🤞🏻

I just wanted to say that I channel Churchill a lot, including KBO which is my default phrase. So much so I'm about to buy an item I'll keep with me & use everyday which says KBO on it. It's a great mantra.

Another Churchillian phrase I like comes from a lesser known part of his Fight Them On The Beaches speech. After the stuff about how the best arrangements are being made (to prevent invasion) he said, quite breezily: "At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do." I remember that a lot. Whatever is going on for me its usually accompanied by me beating myself up for not doing enough to prevent/manage/battle it, regardless of how little control of any given situation I have. I often say to myself, I need to do X, I need to do Y...then I stop myself & think words to the effect of, I might not manage it all, I might fail because I'm too worn down/can't control the situation etc. But I shall KBO. At any rate, that is what I am going to try to do.

I hope that helps a bit x

Being there for poorly child. Tending to medication, food, drinks, hugs, temp checks, suitable clothing, being there immediately after waking.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 04/10/2021 16:35

Confiding in friends about the bullying and discrimination I am facing due to mh issues.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 04/10/2021 16:35

Sorry I meant at work.

I hope you feel better for speaking about it. Is there any action being taking within the workplace to put a stop to it?
PermanentTemporary · 04/10/2021 16:37

Advocating for my mum's wishes in hospital to the medical team. I feel at peace now whatever the outcome. If they insist on treating her, that's their choice and I know I did what I could to prevent her surviving with a rubbish quality of life.

Gingernaut · 04/10/2021 16:37

Finishing a 12 page form and my CV for redeployment. It's taken hours.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 04/10/2021 16:37

Agree Astrak - staying alive today is an achievement for me. Hope you feel a little bit better soon. Easier said than done I know. Sad Xxx

RaskolnikovsGarret · 04/10/2021 16:39

Windows - no. It is the senior staff who are doing it with HR’s blessing. Am trying to find another job. Thanks so much for your concern.

Hope you find something soon and are able to put it behind you.

Astrak · 04/10/2021 22:11

Thanks, all: I went into Action Stations mode. Stalked back up to the functionary's office. Gave him my (ex-SBS) sons' details " for your records " and asked that he checked them there and then " to make sure everything was correctly completed". Later, I found fully functional electricity meter ticking away nicely.
Got a kind friend to give me a lift down to my horse.

Sorted through his massive winter rug wardrobe. Found two rugs to donate to young friend whose low income doesn't run to any.
Arranged to give some low-key support to manage her opinionated equine thug.
Took some food to a meat-eating friend (I'm vegetarian) and had a good laugh and a catch-up.
Now in a warm bed, plus novel and large mug of tea.
Decided to park thoughts/effort to get another domestic animal friend until after Christmas, at the earliest. Added benefit is not spending pointless hatred, related to humanity's feckless behaviour. All well-evidenced in commercial animal advertising sites.
Gather money together not already allocated to the 5* care of Ancient Horse.
Do you think this sounds like a good-enough interim piece of planning?

DuckDuckGoosey · 04/10/2021 22:12

Finally starting my anti depressants. I've had them sitting on a shelf for the last month as I was too anxious to take them!
