Mumsnet keep deleting my threads and the last one had no reason whatsoever but the only way I am getting through at the moment is with random chat with people on here

Been struggling the last few days without a thread

Yeah my son is super bright, A grade so nothing has been picked up on.

I guess they only look at the ones that aren't getting the grades 🤔

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 21:19

@bangheadhere40 doesn’t mean you can’t fight for it, first step is to speak to Senco or teacher see if they have noticed anything

OP posts:
bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 21:22

Ah okay, I've never thought to as he is good at school and they say he is fine and hitting targets 🤔 I don't know what to look out for but I do think he might be autistic....

bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 21:24

He worries so much and isn't a typical teenage lad. I took him to the doctor once, fobbed off. He saw a school counsellor as as said he wanted to but then he didn't know what to say to her. I'm not sure if autism or what, but because he is so clever no one picks up on it ☹

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 21:34

Definitely worth exploring, my dyslexia wasn’t picked up till university as I was doing ok at school

Now potentially being investigated for autism too again not seen at school

bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 21:35

Thanks for your advice btw, appreciated. I will look into senco

bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 21:36

Good getting your opinion from a SEN point if view, thank you x

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 21:44

Thoughts are taking over big time and can’t get through to the crisis team, although I doubt very much they will take my call anyway

PurpleFrames · 27/02/2020 21:58

Did anyone see the documentary series on channel 4? Mental health emergency or something.

There was a wee girl on it who was later diagnosed as autistic who had expressed suicidal thoughts from around 6yrs old it was heartbreaking.

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 22:12

Yes I watched those and the Stacey Dooley one, just wish the care here was anything like on those programmes

OP posts:
bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 22:16

I missed that, will try and watch on catch up

Lobsterquadrille2 · 27/02/2020 22:25

I haven't seen those either. I'm terrible at watching television (we didn't have one growing up) and have a really low boredom threshold. The six year old sounds heartbreaking though.

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 22:31

It’s my distraction but not so good at the concentrating bit 😐

Spoken to Crisis and they fobbed me off again, just don’t know where I am meant to turn

OP posts:
bangheadhere40 · 27/02/2020 22:32

What did they say? ☹ I'm sorry they fobbed you off, this is crazy isn't it.

UpsyDaaaisy · 27/02/2020 22:49

Hello OP looks like you're getting some very good support on this thread Smile. I can't speak on the phone either, even typing the numbers in makes me feel sick and my heart goes a million miles an hour. I force myself to squeak something out if it's for my son but I'll never book an appointment or anything for my self!

Does listening to a particular kind of music ever help you? Yesterday I just lay on my bed for hours and let YouTube pick whatever music and it helped a little.

Have you always wanted to be a teaching assistant? Do you enjoy it? I don't think I could hack working with other people's children all day so you're a better person than me!

Strugglingalone · 27/02/2020 23:37

Crying, can’t calm down it’s the same every night, they just don’t see this!

OP posts:
Strugglingalone · 28/02/2020 00:17

@UpsyDaaaisy thanks everyone on here has been amazing! Literally don’t know where I would be otherwise

I can only cope with music in my car, in my house it causes panic attacks :-/

No - I do enjoy it but unfortunately my mh issues reared their head at uni and cost me my dream profession

OP posts:
Lobsterquadrille2 · 28/02/2020 07:45

Morning @Strugglingalone and everyone else - how are you today and when can you speak to your care worker?

It's quite cold here, probably about the same as you actually (Kent/East Anglia). I stubbornly refuse to put the heating on though! I would if it was really freezing.

bangheadhere40 · 28/02/2020 07:53

Morning, you are all so far away! I am north west and my house is boiling as my son put the thermostat upto 30c when I wasn't looking!

PurpleFrames · 28/02/2020 08:22

Morning everyone x
I'm trying to dry some washing before I go out so heating is on! It's not exactly tropical outside anyway.

When do you expect your call op?

What's the other plans for today?

UpsyDaaaisy · 28/02/2020 09:35

I understand that, sometimes music can be quite grating if your not in the right place! How about the radio? Like radio 4 or one where they just chat, so you feel like you're not as alone Smile.

bangheadhere40 I'm in South Wales, it's not freezing freezing but it is very wet. I hate cloudy days it makes everything seem that much more bleghh.

OP you don't sound like you're too old so in a few years you may be in a better place to try out for your dream profession. Even if you're not it doesn't matter, you're health is so much more important and as long as you're getting through each day. I started suffering from a chronic health condition whilst at uni and although I graduated it wasn't exactly with the best grades and since then I've been working in a minimum wage job (still love it) and nowhere near I would have wanted to be a few years ago. I do get really upset about it sometimes.

I hope things are even a little bit better thus morning and please know that you are not alone. We are all right here next to you

UpsyDaaaisy · 28/02/2020 09:41

@PurpleFrames good luck with the drying! It's all in the positioning Grin. last night my little boy had put the tumble dryer on without anything in it and all of us assumed the other one had put it on. So in the end the dryer had been going round for nearly an hour with nothing in it! He looked very pleased with himself

Lobsterquadrille2 · 28/02/2020 09:49

@UpsyDaaaisy I so agree with your "getting through the day" comment above. Sometimes just the next few minutes, if the next hour seems too much.

It's never anyone else's problems we have to live through, only our own. In 1967 (before I was born) my mother was in a horrific car accident, brain injury, in a coma and when she finally woke, was told that her youngest child had been killed on impact and the rest of the family all seriously injured. She said that she just wanted to die for a long time.

I'm just about to meet her in town, nearly 90, to have her hair done.

Obviously loads in the middle but she's always said, put one foot in front of the other and believe that it'll get better.

Strugglingalone · 28/02/2020 11:10

Sorry I have nothing to add, really struggling this morning

OP posts:
Lobsterquadrille2 · 28/02/2020 11:47

@Strugglingalone good to hear from you. No need to add anything more than you want to, either. Forgive me rambling on.
