AIBU to not give a shit anymore?

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 20:32

About anything!
Like pure and utter apathy. Don't feel a thing. Don't care anymore. Not one shit is given?

Have I lost the plot (don't give a shit if I have) or do others just not give a fucking tiny shiny shit anymore?

Sounds like you’re depressed.

Ohnoherewego62 · 27/01/2020 20:37

What's happening?

Been there before and i was at my wits end with everything and stressed to the max!

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 20:38

Depressed would require me to feel something. I feel nada. Nothing. Rien.

BlueHarry · 27/01/2020 20:39

I've been there too and it was because I was overwhelmed by all the problems in my life at that time. Yanbu to feel that way, but I hope that you're ok.

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 20:39

I've just shut off! I can't deal with anything more and have found this blissful plane of apathy.

I think something in my brain has just switched off! It's great!

The numbness can be dangerous if not dealt with.

What's the biggest bugbear before you switched off?

One of mine was working a million hours a week for rubbish wages at the end of the month. Never seeming to have enough money to do what needed doing to the house/life in general. It didnt feel worthwhile.

EustaciaPieface · 27/01/2020 20:41

Are you ok?

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 20:42

I want to run away from my miserable sodding life and hide on a desert island.

I'm not depressed though.

Neveranynamesleft · 27/01/2020 20:42

I think age and life experience teaches you what matters and what doesnt. I can agree with op, I dont let stuff that doesnt matter bother me any more. No depression here !

Sounds like Anhedonia. A state of nothingness. No emotion. No care. No pleasure. No pain. I never enjoyed it though and wanted to desperately feel again, even if it was negative. That led to horrific substance abuse and self harming so please look after yourself OP. It can be really damaging. Any extreme change in mood or outlook is always worth keeping an eye on.

worriedandannoyed · 27/01/2020 21:03

Do you have any children in your care? Is there anyone else who helps you look after them?

Vulpine · 27/01/2020 21:03

I give a shit about my family for one

managedmis · 27/01/2020 21:03

I know the feeling

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 21:06

Nope. It's not anhedonia. I just don't care anymore. Nothing to do with feeling pleasure. I've nothing pleasurable to feel anyway.

I agree that it's probably a dangerous place to be in however as I could quite happily murder someone - well, one person in particular.
I've called 999 for an ambulance. Don't know what else to do. Though I recognise that this can't be normal.

recrudescence · 27/01/2020 21:09

This state of mind, is it really “blissful”?

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 21:10

I don't know how to describe it. It's just relief after you've finally thrown in the towel.

OP posts:
recrudescence · 27/01/2020 21:11

OK, cross post, you’ve getting help - that’s good. All the best.

Wildorchidz · 27/01/2020 21:11

Have you someone to go with you when the ambulance gets there?

DeTwamps · 27/01/2020 21:12

It's blissful compared to my state of mind 2 hours ago for e.g. yes. I just don't care anymore. I've surrendered and said, fuck it world, you can't do much more to me. I don't care.

Ohnoherewego62 · 27/01/2020 21:13

Well keep talking.

I'm listening for as long as I'm awake, I'm here.

Glad you've phoned for assistance. Is help on the way?

missmouse101 · 27/01/2020 21:13

I definitely feel like this often. I put it down to being pre menopausal! It's quite refreshing to feel this in many areas of your life. It does minimise stress and mental angst.

QueenOfOversharing · 27/01/2020 21:15

Are you safe right now? Anyone with you?
