Hello! I am feeling a bit low at the moment and am looking for ways out of this through productivity. While my child is at school I am trying to work alone at home. I wanted to suggest looking for accountability buddies.... a group where you can share your list of to dos as a way of making yourself accountable. The aim would only be to be supportive of each other in a non judgmental way. The accountability really comes from inside the writer.... but it might I think help to put something up on line.
I think I can help myself by putting up a list of things I am trying to get done and noting them down as I do them. SO, here goes... if anyone wants to join me they would be most welcome.... and I will do my best to cheer them on! best petal.

Well, up again....
yesterday was a good day. I found doing the 1 important job really worked. As usual I was so exhausted by the time I got sp into bed that I just couldn't face tidying up house... so have to do that now... but I did manage to get a job done that Ive been meaning to do for ages and so Im glad of that. IN the evening tho I went and lost my phone!!! omg! you don't realise until its gone what an asset it was!! oh dear! Anyway onward and upward today.....
I think the priority today...the one important thing is to ....well in fact I have three important things... one is to apply for a job I saw .. the deadline is today.... one is to claim the payment on some previous work and one is to write something that urgently needs doing.... hard to choose what when... I think ti will have to be the job and then when that is done the writing... the claim can be done at the end of the day or tomorrow even tho that is also urgent. ... but first... set the day up for sp.... and take some exercise!

Go for it OP (the job). When prioritising I find doing time critical stuff first best, then the 'will someone shout at me or come looking if I don't do this today' stuff. The sweet spot is when I get to doing the stuff I know that will propel life forward or I really enjoy. Too much of the urgent stuff at the moment but I know I will get there.

Good afternoon all,
We want to put this house on the market, only a move about 10 miles away but we have trashed it over the decade of bringing up babies/toddlers here so there is much to paint. My Dad passed at the end of last year and we have his house (not been really touched for a while) to sort out which is 200 miles from us to get ready to rent and it's the summer holidays in about an hour. But this sounds like a great idea, if I see others with to-do-lists like ours it does help that we are all just swimming up tide.

So this week I have sent keys to an agents to give me a list of work.
Started taking up the kitchen floor as there is a constant drip leak from the washing machine pipe that has dampened the underlay so we need to replace that but to do that we need to take the washing machine out and until they finished school I need the machine almost daily.
Booked in workmen to finished ensuite, family bathroom, fencing and gate.
Finalised renewing our passports.

Still to do:
Pack to go away on Monday - we all need a week away from everything right now been a hard 6 months it's a cheap and cheerful near the beach in the UK jobbie but it will do for now.
Gloss paint by back door so we can get the shoes back in and put the shelves back up.
Strip wallpaper on landing.
House insurance (I hate doing insurance quotes)
Find the right agency to sort out my Dad's place.
Keep the children occupied for the summer (3 weeks of it without wi-fi)

oh god not sure if it helps writing all this down!

I am feeling SOO unmotivated.... I have spent most of today trying to get this job application done... it has to be done by midnight... I just need to pull it off..... I suppose I am not sure it is right for me... but I do need to apply just in case they invited me.... so Im going to make a tea and have a go!!! cheer me on!!! x

OP posts:
petal2019 · 19/07/2019 23:43

So I managed to finish the application.. but not any of the other things I really wanted to get done... like sort out bills and the other writing I need to do. I feel so frustrated by the amount of sitting Im doing at the moment!! However, I will plod on with it... I have a rare Saturday alone so I will make the most of it. Im glad I finished the application ... I will properly check it tomorrow then send off.
good night!!

Good morning....6 am.
Well my OITT (one important thing today...what a pity that doesn't spell OINK!) is to get my piece of writing done I need to do. I am alone today so I can really focus. The deadline is actually this coming week really.... and it has to be translated so if I got a first serious draft done today that would be really good going.

Ok... so that is my plan.....

My only problem is I hate sitting down... hurts my back .... the house is in a tip and I feel distracted and want to go out all the time or tidy up ... or anything except for do writing... and I have the concentration of a flea.... praps 10 minutes at a time.

So how am I going to tackle this. It needs to be 2500 words long.
So if I divid that up and aim at 100 words per writing session.... I have 25 sessionettes. If each section has a point and theres an intro and conc it is 20 points.... or perhaps 10 with 200 words for each one.
Now we are talking!!! that sounds much more feasible. Then need pictures... lets say also 10, one for each point.

ok dokey.... so cuppa and then get out the notes already made.
x

@lemonbalmtea I so agree about the sweet spot..... If I can just get my writing task done I will be able to get on with emptying sorting decluttering my attic before my mum comes next Thursday and then I would feel I really had made progress here.

petal2019 · 20/07/2019 06:56

o dear... my great downfall is the internet... just spent the last 50 mins surfing......

so I will get rid of it now no more surfing til this is finished. anything I need I will make a note of.

OP posts:
petal2019 · 20/07/2019 06:57

now Ive lost my initial elan.
ok....
10 mins now.... first 100 words or at least choosing my 10 points.

Morning everyone. I had a quiet weekend, read my book and took a break from mn and Twitter. Much better for my mental health.

Feeling okay today. Made the dc a healthy breakfast and set them up with games or reading. Trying to restrict screens to afternoons only.

Plan for today:

Clean out fridge in time for shopping delivery at 12

Washing

General tidy up

30 min gcse Spanish with eldest

Read book in afternoon while dc having screen time

CapybarasLoveCake · 22/07/2019 09:52

Hope everyone else has a good day x

petal2019 · 22/07/2019 15:09

Hello!
I thought I had posted a greeting Capy this morning... but obviously not! Sounds like you have got your day beautifully organised!!
I hope it has gone well.

Well I decided to commit to doing my writing... it is coming on slowly.... I need now to get on with actually writing the body of text. I will have another go later.... now for less important stuff... so, vet.... tidy house etc.
it looks like a bombs hit it here.... so on my marks.....
15.08.... 1 hour to effect change!!!

Hi petal, I didn’t get to the book but managed everything else.

Hope you had a good day writing.

petal2019 · 22/07/2019 21:46

Hi capy,
that sounds good... shame about the book tho... what are you reading?

I got on ok with the writing in a way... I have thought out my structure and what pics but it is actually doing it that is now crucial. got a visitor this week and Im aware that some major tidying is needed or else I just feel so overwhelmed with embarrassment. . ... and very stressed because they want to help and can't... so I wonder if I could tackle some of this now.... this evening. I think I will give it a go.

Ok... what needs to have been done before they come....
my room for them to sleep in... all clean and tidy.....
the bed set up for me downstairs....
all tidy.... the ironing done and put away....
the stuff all on the web site to sell.....
the kitchen decluttered and fridge tidy so they can cope....
the bathroom decluttered.....
sp bedroom all tidy
what about the attic.... is it possible to get on with this at all?
I cd at least try and find all the bits I need for that application.
all this is probably not impossible to achieve.....
ok fellow declutterers.... Im going to see what I can get done now.....
on my marks....

OP posts:
petal2019 · 22/07/2019 22:46

21.46 .... will try and get the main things done...
a general tidy through whole house....
well managed to do a little ironing.... and that was about it.
ah well more tomorrow
good night!

petal2019 · 23/07/2019 03:37

The Life and Wars of Clementine Churchill by Sonia Purnell. It’s very good actually.

Hope your morning is going well. I don’t know how you get going so early 😳. I think it might be a little hot to to be sorting out the attic today though...

petal2019 · 23/07/2019 11:07

Ok....11-3.00 time to work... that is 4 hours... must be enough to make good progress with the writing will aim for 10 minute spans!!
