Hello! I am feeling a bit low at the moment and am looking for ways out of this through productivity. While my child is at school I am trying to work alone at home. I wanted to suggest looking for accountability buddies.... a group where you can share your list of to dos as a way of making yourself accountable. The aim would only be to be supportive of each other in a non judgmental way. The accountability really comes from inside the writer.... but it might I think help to put something up on line.
I think I can help myself by putting up a list of things I am trying to get done and noting them down as I do them. SO, here goes... if anyone wants to join me they would be most welcome.... and I will do my best to cheer them on! best petal.

Morning @petal2019

I’ve woken up feeling relatively refreshed (for once! I don’t sleep very well but last night was ok)

Prioritising with letters is a good idea. I seem to follow the numbers when there are things further down the list which are actually more important so I’ll try that!

I achieved last night’s list, now getting ready and going to work so I’ll post tonight about my other list. Good luck today Flowers

Nogodsnomasters · 11/07/2019 07:19

heymummee I totally feel your no.5 of unpacking the box after moving 4 months ago, I moved 3 months ago and still have boxes tucked away in places driving me insane but still never seem to get to them.

I'm working 12.30-9.30 today so only really have the morning to get things done, so here's my list for today.

  1. 2nd coat edging on pink wall (leftover from yday list)
  2. sort the safety clips on all blinds (leftover from yday list)
  3. put wash in dryer.
  4. bath and get ready for work
  5. put all birthday cards in memory box 6)print off form
  6. buy fruit
CapybarasLoveCake · 11/07/2019 09:01

Morning everyone; short list today.

Tidy up - should be quick after mega tidy yesterday.

Meet estate agent - I find social interaction with strangers quite stressful atm so will need quiet tea and mn afterwards.

Half hour workout and yoga.

I’m feeling brighter than last week but same frustration at living somewhere that makes me miserable. Wishing everyone a good day.

Nogodsnomasters · 11/07/2019 10:25

I've managed 3 out of 7 so far, one of which was from yesterday's list (2nd coat of edging pink wall), put wash in dryer and buy fruit.

Heymummee · 11/07/2019 11:01

@Nogodsnomasters 3 out of 5 already is brilliant!

The boxes I have are full. I clearly don’t need what’s in them otherwise I’d have unpacked them months ago. I can’t bring myself to open them because I have nowhere to put the stuff that’s in them, nor do I want to just throw them away. I might just take them to a charity shop. There’s 1 in the living room, one in DS1’s room and 1 in my bedroom full to the brim of books.

Heymummee · 11/07/2019 11:01

3 out of 7 sorry! The day is still young! Productive day for you already!

petal2019 · 11/07/2019 11:51

Well... I haven't really been sticking to my goals:
I did get the house tidy and then since drop off I have been sorting out job applications for 2 hours!!
oh dear!
However, that is also constructive.
Now have to get on with the writing....

  1. A. get on with writing L.
  2. . D. Card to O.
3.. F. to send off forms for Ps
  1. F. to pay in cheque to bank
  2. G. put away huge pile of clothes in my room.

Eve relax.... supper C D

Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve achieved plenty. I am so tired I doubt I’ll achieve anything other than feeding the children, shower and bed! Might need to shift tonight’s list over to tomorrow. No motivation to do anything at all. That’s half the battle isn’t it?

petal2019 · 11/07/2019 18:51

Well, I feel like I have started to manage writing L.. so that is a start... even though I have been abysmaly slow!
If I could tackle the piles of clothes and tidy up upstairs as well as down this evening I think I would feel I was making progress..

  1. A. get on with writing L.
  2. . D. Card to O.
3.. F. to send off forms for Ps
  1. F. to pay in cheque to bank
  2. G. put away huge pile of clothes in my room.

When I look at my overall aims the most important to sort out basically is A.
The tidying upstairs is going to contribute to C
Ive applied myself quite a bit to E.
F I need to sort out this week still.
Ah well... so tomorrow it is going to be the writing.... and getting on with the paid work.
Tonight tidying... then can tackle the attic for C!
So onward and upward!!
Now a brief swim!

A. Get the writing done.
B. get the paid work done.
C. get the application off for C
D. organise summer
E. get more work
F. Essential admin
G. Household essentials
H. entertainment.

Hi @Heymummee! thats kind of you! Yes it is half the battle... the motivation. I have been feeling very depressed recently about the whole question of whether to move near my parents or not and send dc to take up a bursary there. I am still in agonies about this decision but have actually made it and it immediately made me feel lighter. I am still working through my feelings but I am noticing the deep weight of depression has or is lifting and it makes me feel how real that was.. So I wonder if you are not feeling motivated if it is because of just being tired or not 100% in some way or whether there is something weighing us down.... I have also this week started taking a bit more exercise which helps. I actually also found making my list of categories quite good .... A-H.... it is helping me to see how what I am doing is according to an overall plan... I feel overwhelmed because I am overwhelmed by too much to do... so a very reasonable logical reaction!! Anyway... hope your e ok and look forward to hearing how you are getting on. best petal

@CapybarasLoveCake just read your post... what do you mean somewhere that makes you miserable? Do you mean the house or the place? I felt like that some time ago and my dad said... don't forget things are always only temporary.... and that helped me get through until I could escape my difficult situation and get away!! best wishes p.

Well I only managed 4 out of 7 in the end yesterday and during work I landed myself with the worst headache ever. I'm working 10.30-5.30 today and have no idea what to put on a list today. Feeling very unmotivated, ds had me up from 5.50am and I am exhausted since I worked til after 9pm

petal2019 · 12/07/2019 07:21

Hi @Nogodsnomasters! I do hope that your headache has gone. is it a migraine or a normal headache? I quite often find it is my lack of sleep that is causing my migraines... as well as hormones. Oh dear... kids! It can be very hard. I hope you are going to get a bit of a rest at the weekend? Maybe just getting your work done is pretty good... was there one thing from your list that you could manage to do as well so you feel you are still making progress.... what is the project you are trying to get done? Sometimes I am just pleased if I manage to make tea and tidy up. Wish you all the best with it anyway tho. best p.

Nogodsnomasters · 12/07/2019 08:30

petal2019 hi, I'm not usually a migraine person but I do think it was one because it was just on one side of my head and the major pain was in my right eye socket and eyebrow bone, painkillers were barely touching it but when I got home from work and lay down in the dark it slowly began to lift, I can feel a slight remnant of it this morning so I hope it doesn't come back full blast.

My main project I'm working on is decorating the house, we moved in 3 months and absolutely every room needs doing but we're taking our time with it as I work full time, have ds4 who has autism and both dh and I suffer from anxiety, so tbh most of my lists are just about getting normal household admin type stuff organised but also some decorating squeezed in. We've managed to complete the living room, dining room and ds room so far, next room we're working on is our bedroom.

I struggle to do much on my work days except work itself and the bare minimum of looking after ds and then on my 2 days off I feel like I run about like a headless chicken trying to catch up on everything but never seem to get it all done.

I hope you're feeling more motivated than me today!

CapybarasLoveCake · 12/07/2019 13:53

@petal2019 thanks, yes the house is a nice, spacious family home so I can’t complain about that. But the area is so so busy, we are on a cut through road in the middle of town. We’ve been here 9 years and I just want to move so badly. It’s really affecting me to the point where I don’t want to go out. I’m not working atm so that doesn’t help and dh works away a lot so I guess I’m just really lonely 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s also commuter central and not a particularly friendly place. I’ve tried, courses, volunteering etc. My dc are at secondary and last year of primary so all mum friends basically working.

CapybarasLoveCake · 12/07/2019 14:01

Anyway, I did get out for a dog walk early this morning which was lovely and I’ve been keeping the washing machine busy all day.

@Nogodsnomasters I hope the headache has improved.

Nogodsnomasters · 12/07/2019 19:00

capybaraslovecake thank you, the headache has lifted but exhaustion descended today and other than going to work, I've done nothing nor do I intend to. Hope you've had a good day

petal2019 · 12/07/2019 20:28

Hi @Nogodsnomasters and @capybaraslovecake. Hope you are both relaxing now! I am going to try and achieve something....
I think if you are working capy you cant get much else done. And Nogods... isn't a one sided headache that painkillers don't touch a migraine? It sounds a bit like one... in my ignorance.... I get them and use triptans to treat them.. they are prescribed... they are miraculous... although sleep is also a big trigger factor.... I hope it is gone now.

I am beginning to feel more settled in my decision.... my friend... who is dying of cancer and seems full of calm wisdom ... advised me to settle into my life here and try and just improve it all as much as I can instead of trying to undertake overambitious plans to move... and I think that is what I am going to do .... with gusto!!

This resolution is making me feel more cheerful already and able to cope.
Hope you are having nice evenings... I am going to tackle my messy environment as quickly as I can.... see what I can do in an hour.

Thankyou I will have a think and make a list for tomorrow

Nogodsnomasters · 14/07/2019 17:53

Yesterday I just worked and did nothing else. Today I was off work and my list was to enjoy the sunshine with my family, visit my niece, do dishes and laundry, purchase all the birthday cards I need for the summer (I have 7 family birthdays between now and Sept 2nd).

So went to feed the ducks, went to the park and visited my niece, got the birthday paraphernalia and then came home and had a nap! Now I just need to do the housework parts!
