Panic attack - can someone hold my hand

Currently in the grips of a panic attack and need talking down. Is anyone out there? Full of self loathing and have tried taking a few different tablets to calm me down and now nothing has worked panicking about the tablets. Is anyone able to hold my hand and help me calm down? Sorry to ask x

I really miss mine, it’s like having another person around. I had two, one fully white (male) and one fully black (female). They were gorgeous and such characters! Very strong minded though!

Hippychick78 · 10/10/2018 23:05

You poor thing it sounds like you've been through an awful time.

Panic attacks are horrendous. I was once advised to count things to distract the brain so you could do some gentle exercise while counting the reps. You could alternatively focus the counting on breathing so breathe in your nose for 2 or 3, and breathe out for 4. It also slows the breathing down so you could do In breath for 2, out breath for 4 and then build up to making you in breath longer so you are at 4 4. Does this make sense??? You could try doodling or drawing patterns with a pen or just bubble write a word and then fill it with patterns or doodles.

I completely understand what you're going through my love. I wish I could explain why the things have happened to you but sadly I can't. I think I always wanted someone to be able to explain it to me but I'm still waiting.

You're brave asking for help/company and its truly heart warming to read these responses.

Big hugs my dear. Hows that bunny. Mine's a cow under my arms right now 😘😘😘

Xxxx

@Hippychick78 thanks for being so lovely. Sometimes I need people to say yes it's all been shit and for no reason instead of telling me it's part of a plan etc, so I super appreciate your message xx

I've been here with my DW - she's now sorted out with coping strategies and the right meds so hang on in there it will get better!

MistyReturns · 10/10/2018 23:14

I'm afraid I have to go for now. My pain killers have kicked in and my eyelids are drooping. I'm in danger of having my phone dropping on my face and that bloody hurts.
Keep breathing. Nothing bad will happen tonight. Go give bunny some love.
Take care (good night & god bless Grin- sorry couldn't resist)

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:15

@Jason118 thanks so much I hope she feels better and gets it under control asap x

😂 Poor silly 🐰

Oh I know what you mean, sometimes it's ok for things to just be shit because that's exactly what they are (and have been for you)

I challenge you.... Tomorrow you need a 'be kind to yourself' hour. Bath favourite music, nails, face shit, juice in a wine glass, cook your bestest or most comfort food, whatever being kind to yourself is.

Are you up to the challenge???

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:17

@Hippychick78 oh my goodness shall I turn off my alarm and give myself the day off tomorrow? I am the boss after all there has to be some perks to it eh? You're so lovely all of you x

I always find fresh air helps me, whether it’s opening a door or window and sticking my head out it really works wonders and brings me around Flowers

PasstheStarmix · 10/10/2018 23:18

And also splashing cold water in my face too.

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:18

@PasstheStarmix I have a fan on me at the moment but good idea to get some fresh air too x

Hippychick78 · 10/10/2018 23:20

Oh absolutely!!!!

If you can and can make it a really nice day then why the hell not. Life's far too short sometimes

Just make it special and kind. Can't wait to hear what you plan 😍🤩

😂😂😂😂😂 At face phone dropping... I'm not the only one.

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:23

@Hippychick78 I might binge watch some of my favourite shows, go and see doctor about some propranolol and pain relief instead of being brave... and eat lots of cheese. What do you think?x

Well Vicky you sound a wee bit more settled now.

I've actually strangely enjoyed talking to you and will check back in this thread in the morning.

Beann oíche agus dia duit mo chara Wink

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:25

@Luvly12 honestly it has helped so much - still anxious and heart pounding but I don't feel like it's the end of the world - there are lovely people out there and tomorrow is a new day and will arrive soon enough x

OP posts:
Dancer12345 · 10/10/2018 23:27

Take care @Vicky. Hope you manage to sleep and tomorrow is better for you.

ItsABeatifulDayNow · 10/10/2018 23:28

@Dancer12345 thank you so much. If it's ok I'll check back tomorrow to let you know how I'm doing x

Propranolol really does the job but if course yes doctor is the expert

I find writing things down helps when I go to doctors so I make sure to get my points a cross (detailed or bullet doesn't matter). It also helps get some of it out of my head

Love a good binge watch. What kind of thing do you like????
Love cheese too. My new gave its caramelised onion toasted cheese mmmmm mm

I think your day sounds perfect. Add to it please note little simple things that make you happy. Even write a list of it helps. Hmmm there's a theme here 😂

Hippychick78 · 10/10/2018 23:30

More little simple things

Stupid typos sorry xx

WitBeyondMeasure · 10/10/2018 23:33

@VickyMcCluresAccentThough
Hello. You are not alone!

I haven't read the full thread because I wanted to reach out. But if you're still panicking please touch three things and name them.

Breathe in and out.

Name everything you touch and speak aloud where it is.

If you can, open the door and breathe in the cool air. Feel it. Smell it.

I really hope you're ok x

Dancer12345 · 10/10/2018 23:45

Of course that’s ok @Vicky! Panic attacks are so horrendous, hope we’ve all helped a bit.

@Hippychick78 that caramelised onion cheese on toast sounds amazing!

Ollivander84 · 10/10/2018 23:53

It is just panic. Acknowledge that it is. Sounds strange I know but I was having such bad panic attacks - full on hyperventilating on the hard shoulder and months of counselling type ones
I went on propranolol which helped and citalopram. Now off the propranolol

A few things that helped
Going on no more panic website and reading the symptoms and why I got them
Distraction - candy crush, words with friends, buffy as comfort tv!
Acknowledging it "hi panic, it's you again, great, I need to get on with my day"
Minimising it a bit "it's just panic. Nothing bad will happen"
At night - nightlight and a quiet talking radio station or podcast

Hippychick78 · 10/10/2018 23:54

Oh it's a dream

I caramelise red onions in the oven. You remove skin, take the yuck bits off you don't eat off top and bottom and wrap segments in Tinfoil parcels. So one red onion per parcel. Drizzle with loads of Balsamic, season, close airtight and cook on low for min an hour. Temp around 150c

You're basically waiting for it to turn so it shrinks right down and has a fairly soft texture. It takes longer than I think lol. After 60 90 mins I open up and finish cooking in oven. Drizzle more Balsamic if drying out

Put them in a jar and ensure to keep the juice if any is left

I toast one side, then put on onions then cheese, grill until cooked and add dab of butter and season lightly.

A drizzle of liquid from the onion jar is Great addition.

I do them in batches of 6 to 8 or more and my friends always asks me to make her a jar up

Im Starving now
