Iv been put on quetaipine for resistant depression and anxiety among other mental health issues, iv been on it for a week and am getting terrible side effects, I feel sick, weak, dizzy more anxious. Has anyone taken this medication and had side effects or found it effective?

Did they keep you on the same dose of both meds then? Ye the side effects from antidepressants are hard to live with at first. Ye it is hard to explain but it feels like there is definitely not right with your brain, honestly sometimes I feel I'm going mad. I usually get an hour of peace about 8pm so I go to bed then to watch a programme

Yes, I am on the same dose. I haven't noticed the hand tremor so much this morning so hopefully that side effect is getting better. How are your Q side effects?

Cmblue · 21/04/2018 15:13

Not really any side effects apart from headaches , but my anxiety and depression has hit me like a ton of bricks today. I hope your side effects are lessening, are you able to do much today?

sorry to hear you are having a bad day. Has anything triggered it? I have been quite chilled all day but have not been able to do much. I am going to cut the Q down tonight to see if that makes a difference to my energy levels. hope you have a better evening.

Cmblue · 21/04/2018 17:07

No triggers just woke up like it, hopefully tomorrow will be better, I hope cutting down the q will help, hopefully when your on just one antisychotic your energy will be back, I found I wasn't lethargic on the olanzapine.

Morning, I hope that you are having a better day today. I had more sleep last night than I have had in the last month, which is good. However, I am so lethargic today but will have to make myself do stuff. I cut the Q in half last night which the doc didn't tell me to do but I want to be off it as soon as possible.

Cmblue · 22/04/2018 12:51

Hi Babette I'm feeling a little better thank you, just trying to get into the habit of being kind to myself but it's hard isn't it especially as an over thinker. I'm so glad you slept well and hope it continues, did your DP sort out his pay after? I don't blame you for wanting to come off the Q as soon as possible, have you had any increase hunger off the olanzapine?

Glad you are feeling better and yes, we have to be kind to ourselves. Having said that, I am beating myself up today as I just can't seem to get going so have done very little. I hope it is my body getting used to this new medication and it will wear off. I have noticed a slight increase in appetite but I am trying not to eat too much especially as I am so inactive. Are you on any other meds in addition to Q?

Cmblue · 22/04/2018 16:18

Ye I definitely think it's your body getting use to the meds, you've got 2 meds to get use too now. Ye iv been on mirtazapine for 8 years and pregablin for over a year

Well that is the last of the Q. I don't feel quite as lethargic today just a little on edge as a friend is dropping round and it will be the first time I have seen someone( outside my family) in the last few weeks. What kind of day are you having?

Cmblue · 23/04/2018 12:58

It's bizarre isn't it how we get on edge when we have to see people, I remember sending a friend home before she had even set foot through the front door, I'm glad your having a visitor tho I hope it's nice for you. I'm feeling very stressed today and I can't seem to settle, iv got all this unwanted adrenaline.

How are things today? Did you feel stressed by anything in particular? I had a rough night, woke up at 4 worrying about stuff. I still feel lethargic during the day which would have to go if I am ever to get back to work. Trying to be kind to myself as I haven't even been on these tablets for two weeks yet.

Cmblue · 24/04/2018 11:07

Nothing in particular stressed me out but I couldn't sleep all night either. Are you completely off the Q now? How did it go with your friend? Did you cope OK? Ye your body has to get use to 2 other new meds and a withdrawal from the Q? Have your work been understanding?

I bet you have had a difficult day with no sleep. Yes, completely off the Q but still feel v v lethargic, almost like I have the flu. I could tell that I wasn't myself when my friend came but it was good to see them. I haven't had much contact with work I suppose I will find out how they are going to be if/when I start planning to go back.Hope you have a better night tonight.

Cmblue · 01/05/2018 11:57

Hi Babette, I'm just wondering how you are getting on with the new meds, are you feeling any better? Are you sleeping better?

Hi cmblue,
Nice to hear from you. I am still on the same dose despite asking for the olanzapine to be reduced to 2.5 as I am still so lethargic. The side effects of the fluoxetine are better though. How are you doing? Are you going to stick with the Q?

Cmblue · 01/05/2018 14:57

How long has it been since you've been on the olanzapine now? Can you leave the house yet? Yes I have to stick with the quietiapine for now until I see the physc but I don't have any side effects from it now.

Babettesidsefreyaallthescandi · 01/05/2018 15:42

Great that you are not getting side effects from the Q but is it helping you? I have been taking the Olanzapine for just over 2 weeks but they want me to be on it for at least another 2 weeks before they will let me adjust it. I am able to get out of the house which is just as well as DP goes back to work next week. I am feeling better but definitely couldn't work as I feel that my brain doesn't work properly. Have you felt more motivated to do stuff?

Cmblue · 01/05/2018 16:06

It's working to some degree but some days I suffer set backs greatly, I still get the feelings of not feeling right. Iv been to the shops and saw my friends Saturday the first time in a while. Is your Dp ready to go back to work? Will you be OK at home without him?

OP posts:
Babettesidsefreyaallthescandi · 02/05/2018 10:54

Seeing a friend sounds positive. I don't think DP is ready to go back to work but he has no choice. I think that I will be alright when he goes back as I have been out by myself. I am getting very lazy as the olanzapine is making me so lethargic.
