the rower I think was more satisfying, I find the bike too uncomfortable to sit on but if I stand it's too much of my vast weight for the injured calf to cope with unless I cycle really gently

in which case I might as well lie down and eat a sandwich

PollyPooic · 10/02/2015 19:07

so it's been nearly 10 days already, unless you count me making it worse on Friday

in which case it is abut 5 days, so by just over a week from now I could probably be going out for walks with some running breaks now and then

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:09

Interestingly the phenelzine is a more recent discovery than the worst of my depressions but it works on the mild-to-moderate ones, so why not? Am kind of hoping I've grown out of the horrible immobile depressions the same way I seem to have grown out of the horrible agitated depressions (I always used to get those multitrack speeding thoughts and interweaving earworms as a part of an agitated depressive thing, rather than being up and happy like I get now). No wonder they can't decide what the fuck is wrong with me Grin

I'm glad you managed a nice walk without pain Mitch - it opens up the options available to you for activities while your calf is recuperating, I guess? I only thought of bag work because I know it's incredibly intense cardio with a lot of upper body stuff, but I guess you can't really do it without bouncing around too Sad

What's the difference between a spin bike and a normal stationary bike?

I'm bloody starving and I know dinner won't satisfy me. I have the calories in MFP going spare so do I have the bar of chocolate in the cupboard?

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:15

Depends entirely what chocolate bar it is.

I dunno what the difference is really? I mean I know what the difference is with the flywheel etc but not how they differ in terms of the sort of workout you can do? I got a spin bike at home so I could do spin classes without having to go to classes (always booked, whichever gym am currently at, except on rare occasions when I go to mad jewish friend's virgin active gym with her then it's just walk in and help yourself)

it's easier to alter the resistance I suppose, with the little knob, they seem much smaller too, mine is quite compact anyway and easy to move around

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:16

Ah, thanks.

Like, if it's a Flyte or a Topic or some such shit, save the calories.

On the other hand, if it's a Boost or a Galaxy Caramel, I don't know how you're not eating it already.

PollyPooic · 10/02/2015 19:17

what's for dinner hell?

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:18

On a serious note, dinner will taste much better if you leave the chocolate bar until afterwards.

OP posts:
HellinaHandbasket · 10/02/2015 19:20

Dinner is all day breakfast minus the carbs. Chocolate is a Star Bar. You're right though, saving it until after dinner will make it all the better.

have some ginger tea and a cigarette

am on a mission to eat 1tsp of ginger a day for 10 weeks and see if it is true that you can lose over a kilo just through the magic of ginger!

am going to get SO FAT without running

if I thought I was fat before I will now have real fat to contend with

HellinaHandbasket · 10/02/2015 19:26

Ten weeks is a long time to have to wait to see if it works Polly.

PollyPooic · 10/02/2015 19:30

hopefully there will be other benefits from my increased ginger consumption

am just adding it, shredded, to things like my tuna steak - but can't help wondering if candied ginger would do the job just as well? could live quite happily on sugar alone I think

PollyPooic · 10/02/2015 19:32

a kilo of just fat is quite a lot though, I think? (that is what the article in women's health promised, as told to me by the mad jewish one) 10 weeks is no time at all

these things are meant to take time

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:36

I lost more than 5kg in two weeks once Hmm

They called and asked about distractions. Sad Sorry I'm being selfish on the thread at the moment.

Ennn · 10/02/2015 19:44

I haven't noticed you being selfish Up, and please don't be sorry, I like seeing you've posted Smile

Evening all. Glad to hear the CT have called Up. Were you able to think of any good distractions? I've been on a spa day with a friend today, I know these are much derided on MN but it was actually very nice and I had a very yummy and healthy lunch.
Just going to put DD to bed now.

Millie2013 · 10/02/2015 19:52

Up, you're not being selfish at all, I also like it when you post and you are very caring towards others when they are struggling too :)

UpOnDown · 10/02/2015 19:56

Thanks all. Smile
