They're just fat until I stand on tiptoe Caulk; I did that to make the bulginess show.

I'm incredibly fat on the top half - three sizes bigger Hmm

Wow, that's a pair of calves!!

Ennn · 08/02/2015 20:12

Thanks for leg compliments, I wasn't fishing Blush I would love slender shapely legs but am stuck with lumpy ones.

Up, it can't hurt to just chat with CPN, can it?

UpOnDown · 08/02/2015 20:23

Hopefully not, it depends what she thinks.

PollyPooic · 08/02/2015 20:24

What time are you seeing her tomorrow Up?

OP posts:
PollyPooic · 08/02/2015 20:29
Hmm
UpOnDown · 08/02/2015 20:31

In the afternoon

Ennn · 08/02/2015 20:36

Will be thinking of you tomorrow afternoon Up - I have a support group to go to then too.

HellinaHandbasket · 08/02/2015 20:41

Ugh, work tomorrow. I like it when I get there but the thought of having to get up at 6am isn't appealing.

Will de thinking of you tomorrow afternoon Up.

Millie2013 · 08/02/2015 20:41

rage. Aforementioned friend who persists in calling me, despite me telling her that I'm Fine and will be in touch soon, has enlisted friend #2, who has started to text me
Just. fuck. Off
(Sorry, rant)

UpOnDown · 08/02/2015 20:42

Thanks both Flowers I hope your support group and work go well tomorrow.

Oh dear millie, that is frustrating.

Ennn · 08/02/2015 20:45

Hey Hell does it bug you if people come in with specific ideas about what drugs they want?

OP posts:
Ennn · 08/02/2015 20:49

Thanks Up Smile It's slightly disturbing because one of the other people in the group is a woman who believes various things including that her head and limbs have been removed and sewn back on, and every week tells us about the awful people at the hospital who've been poisoning her because they're jealous of her being a famous singer/actress etc. (it's quite difficult to follow but clearly upsetting for her) and she appears to be under the impression that I'm clearly mad and need lots of help Blush which can get awkward.

Ennn · 08/02/2015 20:50

That does sound a bit annoying Millie - do you get the feeling it's done with good intentions?

OP posts:
HellinaHandbasket · 08/02/2015 20:53

It doesn't bother me Enn but it doesn't mean I'll prescribe what they're looking for. I try to take patient's preferences into account but I have to prescribe what I feel is best.

Millie2013 · 08/02/2015 20:55

I think some of it is done with good intention, but as DT pointed out yesterday, friend #1 is more interested in her needs than mine and friend #2 has likely been told to contact me by friend #1
Caulk, friend #2 is the one I thought you might know. I'll text her, as I feel bad just ignoring her, but I'd like to meet her without friend #1, who is just pushy. Meh

Ennn · 08/02/2015 21:08

Fair enough Hell Grin I don't think any doctor likes being treated as a script dispensing machine. Patient preference has to come into it for a lot of reasons, though, I guess - the ones I'm thinking of particularly are that the patient knows what's worked well before and what hasn't, that a drug the patient has chosen themselves might have a better effect just because it's the one they've chosen, and also because if you give them a drug they don't want to take chances are it will have zero effect cause they won't take it Grin I goess I was just wondering whether it was ever annoying to feel second-guessed like that, or like patients are trying to manipulate you into prescribing certain things.

OP posts:
HellinaHandbasket · 08/02/2015 21:14

I have patients try to manipulate me into prescribing all sorts of weird and wonderful drugs on a regular basis. They fail to realise that I've been round the block a few times. Patient preference has to come ok into responsible prescribing though. There's no point in me prescribing something that I know the patient won't take.

Millie2013 · 08/02/2015 21:17

Hellina, you sound like a lovely psychiatrist. I've had mixed experiences with MH peeps, but I've been lucky, overall

PollyPooic · 08/02/2015 21:18

what can I say/do that would induce a psychiatrist to give me some mood lifting substance that isn't made of lithium?

HellinaHandbasket · 08/02/2015 21:20

Are you asking for stimulants because that's an absolute no. I'd be thinking of something like lamotrigine.

Ennn · 08/02/2015 21:22

I thought some stimulants were prescribed in bipolar depression?
