I usually have:

fruity porridge with skimmed milk

a tube of smarties Hmm

a ready meal approx 400 kcal

2 98 kcal yoghurts

1 snap pot of heinz beans

I'm limited as I can only do what carers can sort for me. I'm wondering about replacing the yogs with slimfast to get more of the right nutrients.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 13:51

Or I could swap the smarties for the slimfast.

Mitchy1nge · 09/01/2015 13:55

but some fresh or even frozen veg would be better, and more quality protein - do they come in to cook for you?

do you take a multivitamin and mineral supplement?

CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 14:05

Am skiving afternoon at work due to tiredness and grumpiness and general lethargy of not enjoying it at the moment. So am playing on the wii and considering bathing and maybe taking down the tree.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 14:16

They do come in to cook, but it's a short amount of time so no cooking from scratch. I could look into getting some of that frozen veg that you just microwave, it's quite expensive though.

I don't take multivitamin/mineral supplement, I wonder what's best?

caulk, you're tempting me to get the wii out, I packed it away over a year ago. I wonder if I can find mario...A bath sounds a good plan.

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 14:17

Am skiving from gym/running/life and idly browsing through broadband contracts as Virgin have put up my contract price again - TalkTalk looks a fair bit cheaper than BT but doesn't have the wifi everywhere perks that BT has and apparently the customer service is appalling - and I need to go through TopCashBack but TCB is being recalcitrant on my (shitty) laptop. Unfortunately everything is in DP's name so I can't just get the fuck on with it; I have to wait until he's good and ready and do it all in his good time. And he wants to go to the gym so no can do. So, I'm going to ignore all that and kill some people on GTA for a while instead. Grin

Smarties are basically like tablets, so I'd count them as essential medicine.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 14:20

When I lived in the us I missed smarties so much. Smarties and sushi.

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 14:20

A relative of mine had council-provided carers for a few years; they really only had the time/inclination to wang something in the microwave, make a cup of tea, and tip the relevant medications out of the pharmacy-provided massive blister pack thing twice a day. I don't think they were even paid for the time it took to travel between clients Shock

CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 14:22

My mum has both private and council carers. They mainly help with washing, dressing etc but will feed her if she needs it. It's company for her which is important.

Mitchy1nge · 09/01/2015 14:26

but slim fast can't be cheap either - although maybe is good for you? I don't know, am just thinking of mental health rather than what is nutritionally complete

but if carers can organise some good protein at each meal and veg (I get through each week a couple of 500g or more bags of mixed veg that can't be more than £1 each?) am not sure how much eggs are as people just give them to me from their chickens but they are great protein with a long shelf life

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 14:27

Come to think of it she did have a carer who came to help her get up in the morning and wash/dress, as far as I know, but in terms of meals there really wasn't enough time for anything that couldn't be done in ten minutes in the microwave although to be honest she mostly only ate Rice Krispies anyway.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 14:27

That's the size of it, enpoid - I don't think they do get paid for travel.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 14:29

No, slimfast isn't cheap either, it's a tricky one mitch

They do me breakfast and lunch, which is why it's yog or beans in the afternoon because I have to get it myself.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 14:30

I could buy processed meat for snacks (e.g. chicken, ham etc).

Mitchy1nge · 09/01/2015 14:37

processed meat might be fatty, what about canned tuna? I love mashing it into avocado but I am a bit fucked up

#2 is pestering me to go to the embassy and sign an affidavit, under oath, so she can get her passport

I really really really can't be bothered to be helpful. Am also ignoring #1 and her unending demands. No wonder they all have mental disorders

Mitchy1nge · 09/01/2015 14:40

everything is annoying Confused

am tired and factitiously depressed (except when there is something I want to do, like run)

OP posts:
CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 14:42

I'm busy feeding the cat all the things he likes from my lunchplate. He isn't allowed people food, or just generally to eat here (technically belongs to a neighbour) but I worry about him not eating enough and therefore am fucked up enough to prefer feeding it to him than purging it myself.

How is #2 responding since the meeting on Monday?

Mitchy1nge · 09/01/2015 14:52

#2 is currently being the Mentally Normal one (she has more than served her time though) #1 is the one with 'a touch of mania' she is trying to make me help her get back to work this weekend but I just want her to take sedatives and lie down :(
#3 is the surprise autistic one who goes to a special school now

we are one of those families Confused

#2 is doing an extra year of international law and needs both passports to get in and out of US, a pain

OP posts:
CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 14:54

Oh yes, did know if was #1, think I typed 2 as she had been mentioned before.

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 15:18

Is tuna an oily fish? I have sardines.

I'm tired too, got the wii out but I'm rubbish, ah well Grin

Less than a week before I see CBT person.

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 15:59

Tuna is an oily fish, but I was told tinned tuna doesn't count as one of your weekly oily fish portions as it's not got much of omega 3 in it compared to fresh run a and other tinned fish. But it's still good protein etc.

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 16:00

Licking the knife clean after stirring up a fresh bucket of almond butter costs 200kcal Shock

SnowyMouse · 09/01/2015 16:06

Gosh, that's loads Shock

I wish pistachios were less calorific.

Enpoid · 09/01/2015 16:11

In fairness, I didn't scrape the knife clean first.

Those big buckets are really hard to stir, though - the bottom third is set like concrete and even once you've broken it up it sits in lumps.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/01/2015 16:11

I've just been big and grown up and responded to the ed referral letter and tried to make an appointment for an assessment. Thankfully no one was there but at least I tried.
