All this talk of running makes me think I should take it up but I live in a place with very few streetlights or footpaths. Is this couch to 5k thing any good?

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 15:36

Very tasteful Mp.

I'm going to my parents' over Christmas as usual so no tree. They usually have one though. With pasta creations from 25 years ago hung on it.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 15:37

I am doing zombies run 5k.

Mitchy1nge · 13/12/2014 15:37

are you meant to wash mud off? Confused it just dries and falls off by itself?

Ooh I have fish fingers somewhere in the freezer, I'm sure of it.

It seems to be smeared on pretty hard.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 15:40

Are you too classy for tinsel Mental?

Mentalpsychiatrist · 13/12/2014 15:40

Far too classy for tinsel Wink

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 15:45

Has anyone seen the imitation game? I was planning on seeing it at the cinema before its run ends

Mentalpsychiatrist · 13/12/2014 15:45

Not me, I live miles and miles from a cinema, sorry.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 15:50

Looks like yesterday was the last day Sad No bigscreen Cumberbatch for me Sad

Mentalpsychiatrist · 13/12/2014 15:55

What is the Benedict Cumberbatch thing? I know I'm a big old lezzer but I just don't see the attraction.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 16:08

Probably at least partly the voice. That's the main reason I'd still do Patrick Stewart.

Er, cheekbones?

Mentalpsychiatrist · 13/12/2014 16:08

The voice I do get.

Mitchy1nge · 13/12/2014 16:41

Could not pick Benedict cumberbatch out of a line up but thanks to a thread on MN I do hear his name in my head to the tune of 'another one bites the dust' every time I see it

have heroically eaten the chips and fish fingers, the bridge is v exciting now, as a little side offering to the bigger story the nanny blatantly has munchausen's syndrome by proxy or whatever its new name is

I love factitious disorders, and conversion disorders (maybe I have the former?) and somatising and malingering. Friend has a patient with factitious schizophrenia. How can you confront someone about that? Or would you just dole out the drugs and pretend not to know?

OP posts:
Enpoid · 13/12/2014 16:43

Hang on, you can have a mental illness the main synptom of which is pretending to have a different mental illness?

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 16:46

I can understand maybe playing up symptoms of anxiety to get benzos.

Mitchy1nge · 13/12/2014 16:49

there isn't exactly a massive body of knowledge on the subject but yeah

would have to be quite fucked up, it's sad isn't it, but fascinating

OP posts:
Enpoid · 13/12/2014 16:52

How would you know if you were making it up, though? I only ever realise in hindsight that my episodes weren't just me being my usual self cause it all feels like my choices at the time and if anyone accused me of choosing to do the nutso shit, I'd probably agree with them. But then I don't usually experience psychosis so I guess that's different.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 16:56

I mean, sure, I guess you would know for a fact you were making it up if you said "I hear voices" when you don't, but mood stuff is a little bit more subjective and weird.

SnowyMouse · 13/12/2014 16:58

I'm liking Alan Rickman's voice at the moment

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 17:00

An excellent choice Grin

Mitchy1nge · 13/12/2014 17:17

if it's just for particular drugs it must be malingering - but if it's about, I dunno, validation? then it's factitious I guess

is a shame I'm dementing prematurely and have forgotten so much stuff but maybe I will enjoy finding out about them again Grin

if I was a horse with colic I'd find my gut noises reassuring Confused

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 17:26

Strange type of validation to want. Confused And a strange type of drugs to want, too. But then who said mental illness made any sense?

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 17:30

Ah who gives a toss. Beginning to not believe in the validity or predictive value of any psychiatric categorisation, especially given the high levels of supposed comorbidity. Which is more likely, that diagnostic categories are invalid or that everyone I meet with mental health problems has multiple specific mental illnesses? I think what you were saying before is right.

Enpoid · 13/12/2014 17:36

I am Enpoid, and I am Not Otherwise Specified.
