It's all just so insulting Hmm

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/10/2014 18:26

Oh I agree 100%. The lady I got when I called the Samaritans, feeling suicidal last year, was not good. She huffed a lot and seemed annoyed but like she was biting her tongue...and she could only let me talk or ask very vague questions. No advice can be given etc so it felt pointless and I felt even more hopeless...so I hate that everyone's going on about TS's like they're a magic soloution Hmm Grin

I was better off ranting to myself than I was to a huffy stranger on the phone Grin

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 18:36

Yep ranting to ourselves is way better, I've just stopped doing it in public now GrinGrinGrin

SnowyMouse · 23/10/2014 18:41

I got told (by CPN) to hold my phone to my ear if I was talking to the voices out loud... Grin

Victrix · 23/10/2014 18:44

Good tip Grin

When I called the Samaritans, I said I couldn't explain my feelings because they hadn't been caused by a specific problem. The response?

"Well if there's nothing wrong you'll need to get over it"

Cheers pal Hmm

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 18:45

That is a really good solution snowy I'll have to remember that the next time I'm being insane on the streets of London Grin

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/10/2014 18:45

I'm a housework ranter... Grin Blush

So I'll angrily wash up and be ranting away. I find it gives me extra elbow grease! Had to stop posting on the other threads as they were making me want to angrily wash up my entire kitchen. Some people are just coooooold.

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/10/2014 18:51

Vix Wow, thought it was just me who got a bum call.

I spoke to this lady once. Told her my situation, she knew I had DS and I'd told her I sure I would off myself sooner or later as I was too ill to function at the time, and she said "well you couldn't do that to your DS could you" and was mostly quiet, which just made me feel even guiltier and even more alone. So it's annoying seeing lots of people suggest that calling them is the best option. They're no crisis team etc Hmm Grin

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 18:53

OMG victrix that's truly Shock but not surprising tbh. I'm sure the responses I got at the time were quite similar.

Victrix · 23/10/2014 19:03

Yes, he was a delightful man.

Only phoned once

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/10/2014 19:05

Oh and I'm watching American Horror Story. I love halloween Halloween Grin

DS is half american (his dad is from the US, we're not together but it's become a big event/tradition now) so it's a bigger thing for DS than most brits Smile

Mentalpsychiatrist · 23/10/2014 19:25

Evening all, I hope everyone has had an ok day.

I've resisted reading 'the threads' as I thought they would be bad for my blood pressure. The profound lack of understanding of mental illness never ceases to amaze and sadden me.

I cheerier news I've bought a ginormous pumpkin for Halloween. Can't wait to do some carving Halloween Grin

SnowyMouse · 23/10/2014 19:41

I had two fillings this morning. Apart from that it was an ok day Smile, relaxed in the afternoon.

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 19:42

Sounds good orchard enjoy Halloween Grin

MP wow a pumpkin Halloween Grin

Mentalpsychiatrist · 23/10/2014 19:44

Sorry about the fillings snowy, that's never fun. My DP is a dentist and bores me to tears talking about her work.

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 19:45

Ouch snowy gald ur afternoon has been relaxing Smile

SnowyMouse · 23/10/2014 20:06

They do try to make it as painless as possible, they put stuff on your gum to numb it before the injection, and wait for the injection to take hold before starting work - I'm fortunate that I am seen by the salaried dental service on the NHS, so I don't have the cost issue on top of the work.

Pyrrhagena · 23/10/2014 20:09

Ooo mp can you ask her a question for me? If someone is having a filling, is there a maximum number of times you can inject them with the numbing stuff? And a picture of your pumpkin creation please!

Sorry to hear about your fillings snowy. Hope it wasn't too bad.

Pyrrhagena · 23/10/2014 20:12

Oh and also a bad (?), unhelpful experience with the Samaritans here. Because I was at university at the time he was adamant it must be stress because I had so much work on. didn't want to listen to anything I had to say, just said I'm sure it's not that, it must be stress because the exams are coming up Hmm When in actual fact, that was the least of my concerns.

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/10/2014 20:17

Glad it's not just me with the odd S'Ms experience Grin Hmm

Sorry about the fillings. I hate the dentist. Need a root canal doing under sedation because she injected me 4 times overall and I could still feel it, and ended up totally embarassed, in floods of tears and hyperventiliating... Blush Hmm Get a gold cap though Grin

Mentalpsychiatrist · 23/10/2014 20:24

pyrragena yes, apparently there is a maximum number of times you can be injected but she says she never normally gets to that point except in cases where there's an abscess.

I'll also be sure to post a picture of my pumpkin creation. Hopefully the neighbourhood kids will appreciate my efforts.

Pyrrhagena · 23/10/2014 20:46

What's the number? Was given 7 last time, and felt beyond awful after. Took me three years to go for another check up. We're a couple of other things that happened. Just wanted to know how normal it is, or if I'm overreacting.

Pulledapart · 23/10/2014 20:50

Gosh root canal's were like an every month occurrence for me at one point orchard and they are bloody painful. I've got a gold cap though at the back of my teeth so no one notices thankfully. I've have had four teeth removed under sedation too Blush quite surprised I have any teeth actually Grin

Oh yes would love to see a pic of the pumpkin MP and I'm sure the kids will love it Smile

Lots of fireworks going off around our place so no chance of an early night Sad I think it's Diwali today.

Pyrrhagena · 23/10/2014 20:58

I'm likely to have to have a filling replaced soon and I want to say if I need more than 3/4 injections stop and try another day. Would that be weird?

Victrix · 23/10/2014 21:06

I made a pumpkin creation earlier today- soup Grin

There was also a butternut squash involved
