Shiny new thread. xx

It's been chilly here today, what's it been like elsewhere? (almost feeling autumnal).

Mentalpsychiatrist · 06/10/2014 20:34

Chilly here too snowy and it was very wet earlier. The central heating's not on yet but the fire is lit and I'm having a medicinal whiskey to warm my insides.

SnowyMouse · 06/10/2014 20:41

Wet here too. I've substituted my sleeping bag for putting the heating on. Medicinal whiskey sounds nice, I'm looking forward to hot choc later.

Collardove · 06/10/2014 21:11

MP - glad your first day back went well for you :)

Snowy - are you feeling a bit better now after the earlier reaction to your jab?

It is very autumn like today. I have my fire on and am nice and cosy watching Grantchester.

Village is quiet today. Hope everyone i has had an ok day?

SnowyMouse · 07/10/2014 13:46

Yes, it's faded, thanks collardove I agree it's autumnal - sleeping bag and dressing gown over clothes here.

It's quiet today as well, how is everyone? I'm planning on some maths after lunch.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 07/10/2014 13:52

Day 2 of work done and dusted. Full clinic which I got through with no problems. Looking forward to an easy day tomorrow - a couple of home visits with my favourite CPN. Have no idea what to do with my afternoon now though. I might cook a nice dinner.

Sounds cold where you are snowy.

MySpideySenseTickles · 07/10/2014 13:54

It has been very quiet, I'm just back from my run which went amazing, did the whole thing without stopping, I've signed up for a 4k on New Years day so got to step up and push myself to be ready.
Not doing too bad at the mo, climbed mam tor on Sunday and wasn't even tired!
I have to think that excercise is helping my depression and giving me a bit of self confidence that I've never had before.
My incredibly tight "bought when I was the skinniest I've ever been" jeans are getting a little loose now.

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 13:56

Hi all, lovely autumnal day here too. Hope you're a bit better today snowy. Hi collar! Hope work going well mp? Good luck with appointment bipolarity x. How's obs fluffy?
How's everyone else doing?
Feeling spaced out from quetiapine, but getting uses to it. Too soon to know if it's helpful... Increase dose Friday night to 50,aim is 100 within a few weeks.
Trying to get myself together to make some soup for tonight. I usually love autumn, not feeling much love for anything atm but, looking at positives, the food is nice at this time of year!
Hugs xx

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 13:56

X post, well done spidey and you mp x

SnowyMouse · 07/10/2014 13:57

I get cold easily. A nice dinner sounds a good plan, I'm having fish pie for lunch.

Well done spidey! I'm still calorie counting, I wish exercise was easier.

MySpideySenseTickles · 07/10/2014 14:11

Calorie counting didn't work too great for me, I found I was becoming obsessive about every little thing I ate slimfast/tesco version is working out brilliant, a shake for breakfast and one for lunch, sometimes skip the lunch one and have a nice salad instead then basically whatever I fancy for tea, as long as it's under 600 calories it's all good. Can have three snacks a day of 100 calories each so a bag of crisps if I want, usually I just have fruit though.
Then one day a week I have tea with mil and eat whatever I want and we occasionally cheat and have a takeaway or chips. I've lost just over 2 stone since the end of August, I don't even really feel hungry much anymore.

Victrix · 07/10/2014 14:12

It's lovely here today, sunny but cool.

I think I might actually be a level 4 today, got up & dressed, used my nice new face stuff and put some make up on. Put some thought into my outfit rather than just sticking on whatever I had lying about.

Met my boss for a catch up then had a wander round the shops for a bit before heading home. I bought the most impractical white faux fur coat with a gift card- I love it Grin

Mentalpsychiatrist · 07/10/2014 14:36

Fur coat sounds fabulous victrix. You've reminded me that I need a new winter coat but the thought of traipsing into London to buy one just puts me off.

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 15:15

Hi again, I'm freaking out a bit re being on two meds. Never been on two at once before, feels like a big step?!? Terrified of the side effects. Part of me thinks meds are useless :-\ :-(

Mentalpsychiatrist · 07/10/2014 15:40

nethuns there's no need to freak output about the meds, really. Quetiapine is a great drug and some of us manage to get by on more than two meds. It's no big deal.

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 15:42

I know that logically, just feel v frightened in general about feeling so rubbish. Not been this ill in over ten years :-(.

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 15:43

I just can't imagine being able to function properly again.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 07/10/2014 15:48

You will definitely be able to function again. The sedative effects of quetiapine wear off after a few weeks and life gets easier again. If it helps, I take 800mg of quetiapine, amongst other things, and I function just fine. In the meantime I'd just enjoy the lovely sleeps you get from the quetiapine.

nethunsreject · 07/10/2014 15:50

Thanks mp. x

SnowyMouse · 07/10/2014 16:03

Impractical is good Grin That sounds good spidey - I'm not disciplined enough to have snacks in the house, although I suppose a yoghurt is 100 kcal. Well done on losing over 2 stone, I'm going by my clothes rather than weighing.

((( nethuns ))) I used to take 850mg of quetiapine, the side effects did settle.

Pulledapart · 07/10/2014 17:42

Hi all,
Been a few days again since I posted - sorry not intentional just not with it much as present so been lurking. School runs are about the only thing I'm managing to do without freaking out completely and usually in my pj's with my winter coat over it as I really can't be bothered changing or doing my make up or hair. I'm sure I'm scaring plenty of parents.

Have had my flu jab also as it's that time of year. Plus loads of blood tests for other anaemia as now I have a new problem to add to many which is uncontrollable muscle twitching Sad I really feel like giving up sometimes with my body.

Haven't caught up with thread properly but did read people getting new jobs and starting work again so want to extend my congratulations to u all Flowers well done on weight loss spidey

Welcome to the newbies (sorry can't remember names) hope u find the thread a great support like many of us have.

Oh nethuns just want to say like others have said please don't freak out over having more than one med. most of us if not all have been on more than one med at some point. You will get used to them and side effects will eventually subside. I know my rambles of self pity probably are not going to help convince you but do listen to others.

Hi to NN snowy collar MP spidey victrix lem kat fluffy and anyone I've forgotten hope ur all doing ok.

fluffydressinggown · 07/10/2014 18:11

Quick update:
I am still in hospital, coming to the end of my 28 day Section 2. I have been on constant obs for over 3 weeks but today I finally saw the psychiatrist who reduced them to 5 minute obs.

I am hearing God's voice telling me to kill myself and getting messages from the radio and TV. It is hard to ignore the truth. I feel strongly that I will kill myself but for now the staff are keeping me safe.

I have been referred to PICU (psychiatric intensive care) and will be going there if I make repeated attempts at my life on the unit, we shall see. I HATE PICU but it is hard to ignore my destiny.

They also have to make a decision by Thursday about the next step. The options are to discharge me, for me to agree to stay (not happening in a billion years), or to put me on a Section 3. I genuinely don't know what will happen but I would appreciate vibes that things go my way for once - ie no PICU, no Section 3.

I wish it was more positive but I wanted to update on things.

Pulledapart · 07/10/2014 18:24

Oh ((( fluffy ))) I'm so so sorry to hear things have been so tough and I really hope and pray whatever the decision this coming Thursday that it is the best for your safety & welfare xxx

SnowyMouse · 07/10/2014 18:26

(((( pulled )))) I empathise, I had loads of blood tests a couple of weeks back, and flu jab this week, it's horrible when it feels as if things are falling apart. I had a day's worth of blood pressure monitoring on top of that, should get the results at the end of the week.

(((( fluffy )))) if they do go for a s. 3, and/or PICU, it's only because they want to keep you safe.

fluffydressinggown · 07/10/2014 18:53

I don't want to be safe.
