Background in brief - history of abuse and lengthy depression, self harm, lots of therapy in teens inc psych ward stay. Now suffering from CFS (also known as ME) and having CBT as part of the treatment.

So, we were talking about low self esteem, negative inner voice etc, and she suggested doing this to gradually build up evidence against these thoughts. I've done similar briefly in the past but having done a lot of psychological 'inner work' this year I feel ready to make it stick and I thought doing a thread on it would make me more likely to bother!

I'm off to watch telly with DH in a mo (Big Bang Theory 6 arrived yesterday :o) so won't be back til tomorrow but if anyone wants to do this with me then jump in! Could be stuff you've achieved, nice things that have happened etc.

Mine are:

  • Had my consultation over the phone for the first time - was worried it'd feel weird but I stuck with it and found it really helpful.

  • Contacted a friend to arrange a meet up while he's visiting home (I hardly ever initiate anything like that)

  • Wrote in my treatment journal the same day as my session, instead of leaving it for weeks!

:)

Dd said 'mummy I love you soooooo much'

Ds tried really really hard with his homework. Am just so proud of him he has various issues and what his teacher said today really touched me and have wee tear in my eye now.!

For the first time since starting this thread I am really, really struggling :( feel horrible today after work made me really anxious, now snappy as hell and want to hide away.

Thinking hard for my 3 things:

  • had some nice bonding time with my teen DSD watching Big Bang Theory related stuff on youtube. Including unaired pilot which is both disturbing and hilarious.

  • actually made dinner which is a big achievement as I have trouble standing

  • managed to get up and showered in decent time so I wasn't in a rush and I could get the same bus as DH

...still feel pretty rubbish but this 3 things rule is helping I think. Dr said after a while it should become automatic and I will be much more able to counteract negative thoughts. Here's hoping it works for us all :)

Chin up, Fuzzpig.

Ordered some nighties for DD.

Friends over for sleepover.

When DD fell and hurt her chin quite badly, I stayed calm, didn't go to pieces and, most importantly, accepted that accidents happen instead of blaming myself. This is big for me as, according to CBT, I take things too personally and blame myself too much.

Fuzzpig - perhaps one of your things could be 'Came on the internet and said very wise thing that really helped Empross and SDTG.

Mine for the last day:

1 - yesterday afternoon I made a delicious chicken, bacon and red wine casserole for supper - and peeled the potatoes for the mash to go with (and enough over for roasties today), so I could then spend the afternoon in front of the tv, resting.

2 - got to shaping the second armhole for my cardigan that I am knitting.

3 - found a pattern for a top and skirt that is really pretty and in my size.

I'm going to join you all, after being pointed in the direction of the thread by fuzzpig :)

So, mine for yesterday are:

  1. Went ice skating, and had a really good practice ready for my lesson next week.
  2. Got home, by bus, in enough time to go and visit my granddad in hospital, with my gran.
  3. Was brave and went to said hospital, even though I really dislike them. Was also calm and didn't show any signs of worry when I saw how old my granddad looks now. Also didn't cry when he said that a surgeon was coming to see him on Monday, because there's "something" in his left lung. That's very good for me :)

Can I join in please?

I am struggling with some undiagnosed fatigue thing as well as chronic sinusitis and psioritic Arthritis so I get quite down at heart despite all my blessings

So this will be good for me

Yesterday
I tidied a HUGE cupboard

I rested and rested and rested Smile

I went to the theatre and saw a wonderful play by my friend Patrick Jones, Dandelions. It's about a group of elders in a hospice/nursing home and is really touching and heartwarming, full of laughs and prompting many tears and thoughts of my Mam who passed 4 years ago this month.

Welcome earthy and lollipop!

Those are some great achievements :)

Earthy, sorry I'm crap with names but if you haven't already do pop over to the Spoons thread (on general health board) as there are loads of us with fatigue/pain issues.

Lollipop I hope your grandad is doing ok. I don't like hospitals either. Lost my nan (to lymphoma) in July. It's ok to cry though, if you need to Thanks

Hello all!

Today's three things:

Had some LOVELY cuddles with DS.

Fixed DD's lunchbox.

Did a little prep for a meeting with my employer & HR tomorrow (I've been off work with anxiety since April).

I've had more bad things than good things today but it does help to at least identify some positives.
