Background in brief - history of abuse and lengthy depression, self harm, lots of therapy in teens inc psych ward stay. Now suffering from CFS (also known as ME) and having CBT as part of the treatment.

So, we were talking about low self esteem, negative inner voice etc, and she suggested doing this to gradually build up evidence against these thoughts. I've done similar briefly in the past but having done a lot of psychological 'inner work' this year I feel ready to make it stick and I thought doing a thread on it would make me more likely to bother!

I'm off to watch telly with DH in a mo (Big Bang Theory 6 arrived yesterday :o) so won't be back til tomorrow but if anyone wants to do this with me then jump in! Could be stuff you've achieved, nice things that have happened etc.

Mine are:

  • Had my consultation over the phone for the first time - was worried it'd feel weird but I stuck with it and found it really helpful.

  • Contacted a friend to arrange a meet up while he's visiting home (I hardly ever initiate anything like that)

  • Wrote in my treatment journal the same day as my session, instead of leaving it for weeks!

:)

Hello! Been AWOL for a while-think I've been really better so perhaps living a bit. But I think it's good that I get back in the habit of doing this-it would be do easy to slip back into negative thought patterns.

  1. had fab evening with friends last night wearing a very cute dress that was braver than I'd normally wear. I'm starting to care how I look.

  2. two lovely coffee and cake sessions today with different combinations of my 3dc, something I would have dreaded a few months ago.

  3. teaching went well this week. Managing to keep up with planning and marking.

Hi iMe, that all makes sense. I'm glad you are feeling it's easier to get to 3 or more nowadays! Don't apologise for going over! Was just wondering how this thread started out. I think it's great you're still here, giving others hope that it can get better. I wouldn't say I'm in an awful place atm but definitely have days where I feel everything's going wrong.

OK, six for today and yesterday :

  1. Had lovely day out with DH, DD and friends
  2. Met new baby friend and got on well
  3. My friend seemed to like the birthday present I bought her
  4. Got DD to sleep in the pushchair (a new occurrence!)
5)Had my fave food ever (thin crust pizza)
  5. Realised my stomach seems smaller after cutting out lots of the fatty stuff I was scoffing before

hi again
well, it started off as three things. sometimes I break the rules and write more. On a really bad day, sometimes it can be difficult to think of even one or two positive things. To aim for 3, I think, is good, because in depression we tend to dwell on the negatives. Sometimes I hadn't thought of more than one thing, until I have to really rack my brains to come up with more for the purpose of this thread, so once I've come up with three I go away with a more positive mindset. 3 positives when one is depressed is maybe just a more realistic number. I hope that makes sense?!
so sorry for going over the 3 sometimes.., I feel I'm on the up now, so am finding more and more positives each day. I read a quote once that I've never forgotten: "happiness is infectious so lets start an epidemic".... I'm hoping that all my positives will help spread the joy.... but maybe hearing me so chirpy on this thread will make others who are really down just feel worse? I don't know. Maybe it's time for me to move on now? But this thread really helped me and I think it should be kept going. Where is everyone else, anyway? I hope they are ok. Ok, I'm waffling, Sorry.Blush
Anyway...

  1. got more work potential
  2. baked a cake
  3. had a lovely relaxing bath.

Sounds good, iMe!

  1. Called a friend who invited me round and went though didn't feel like it. Was really glad I went
  2. Went for run though didn't feel like it. Really enjoyed it (see a pattern here?!)
  3. Had nice walk with DD

Is it 3 things we list or just how every many we think of?

  1. work went well I think
  2. DH says the hole in our recent big purchase Shock Angry should be easily enough fixed.
  3. DD being more cooperative and DS starting to sleep a bit better again after his illness.
  4. looks promising for me getting an early night tonight.
  5. coffee date with a friend to look forward to tomorrow.

Just found this thread. Great idea OP and good to hear you're doing well. Anyone fancy reigniting this idea? Can't promise to do it every day but for a starter:

1)Did my plankuary challenge today without swearing once
2)Arranged to meet up with two potential new mum friends
3)Gave six-month-old DD some risotto and watched her in awe as she helped herself to a whole bowlful

  2. we're all mostly recovered from the nasty bug
  3. my procedure last week has not resulted in any nasty side effects yet
  4. having more good days than bad, i'm feeling quite positive and determined to come off ADs in spring/summer this year, all being well.
  5. I have some work starting and confident that I could have more if I want it and make myself available & manage to find reliable childcare

Merry Christmas!

Our dc were squealingly excited about the eBay gifts we bought them and lovely to each other

My dsis came for Christmas and I haven't spent Christmas Day with her for twenty years as she had fallen out with my mum (she had reasons and I struggle with my mother too). It was lovely.

Managed to be calm despite dd2 waking up at 3am!!!! Couldn't take he down as we usually would because Santa had been!
