Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

Oh well, not a great morning - named nurse at the day service wasn't up to date (or hadn't found out at all, as it's only my second day) and told me to go back to the ward and he said I didn't need to talk with him. Which would be fine if I actually still was on the ward. It was someone I didn't know so I was pushing it anyway to go and ask. I'd already been asking for help as I couldn't find him before I went, only perservered because they said I had to talk to someone as the weekend was coming up.

At least it's the weekend now (almost!)

I lost 3-4lbs whilist in hospital thankfully, I was only aiming not to put any on so that's good - just sub 12 stone now :)

What is everyone up to today? I'm going to try to teach myself to take off nail polish ;) (I don't usually wear it).

Nilgiri · 02/03/2012 13:20

Uff, how annoying after you'd gone to so much trouble. Grrr.

What fab news about actually losing weight!

I'm drinking tea about to have another go at yesterday's paint job. Expected it to take 2 x 15 min bursts in yesterday's bright sunshine. Hah! Why do I never learn? Cleaning and preparing the patch of wall - and then the radiator since I was there - took most of the day. So by late afternoon I was painting white over white in poor light... (No prizes for guessing how that turned out...)

cityhobgoblin · 02/03/2012 13:46

Don't like the sound of that nurse's attitude at all, upward and well done for persevering
Heh , what colour nailpolish were you persuaded to try ? I think you can buy polish remover pads les (I know it's wasteful , but less likely to go flying than a bottle ) at budget prices in discount shops
Fabulous to "see" you wake up at home this morning , ( after a reasonable sleep I hope ) and hope you enjoy a peaceful afternoon

Hope you're feeling a bit better tday , shodatin , and able to enjoy some time outdoors

Oh bliss and joy at your link, Nilgiri- Dh's great childhood favourite ... & HF was christened Noggin when we first met her

Brew - what an effort with your painting , & how frustrating < medal for patience >

Sorryto be so late , everything taking ages today - Dh blushes deepest shade possible at all your very kind wishes , and is feeling much better , enjoying family history research on day off
< Dh & HF and wish upward a very happy homecoming>

shodatin · 02/03/2012 16:06

Am probably too late with advice on removing nail-polish
(been seed-sowing etc) but hope you remembered to use plenty of hand-cream after removing polish and washing nails hob. I remember being warned that it was not the polish which damaged nails, but the acetone which dried them out, so to use as little as possible and then moisturise. Good for you, trying something new and fashionable, and hope you enjoyed the novelty.
Also hope the named nurse was full of apologies and is well up-to-date for the rest of your relationship.
Must be lovely to be able to make own plans for the weekend without being restricted by ward rules, and hope you have something good to look forward to.
Congratulations are due for losing weight while on the ward, you've done really well, and will no doubt soon be down to target weight (and needing new summer wardrobe).
Feeling sorry for Nilgiri, being a bit optimistic about painting task and continuing despite exhaustion. Must be near the end now, so hope it looks ok in some lights and won't need further coat. The good weather tempted me to do some sowing/potting up, but like you, felt I had to continue and finish the job and am now tired. Wish I could remember name of furry, silver-leaved annual which has sprouted but lost part of name, a something-flower...

Good to hear that your DH is having a happy birthday with the ancestors hob, and what a co-incidence about HF's original name. Did you choose a new one with a similar sound I wonder?

Evening allBrew
< HF brings upward medal of impossible achievement for weight goal > Really incredible that you managed that , and hope you will enjoy your food at home

< HF/ Nogs brings pink primroses to hardworking , high-achievng cybergardeners >
Thank you for lovely post when so exhausted , shodatin , and I agree about handcream on nails

Really sorry , will have to post properly later
Hope we all have our feet up by now

shodatin · 02/03/2012 23:22

Hope you enjoyed your DH's birthday hob, although it seems to have been a bit tiring for you, and that you do have feet up now and are able to relax. Glad to have pink primrose from HF, and really appreciate kind thought.
Hope upward not too tired after first full day back at home, and that enough helpers were available. Can imagine it will be a tired-out sleep tonight, and really hope you're not doing too much too soon.
I did have just enough spoons for today, and pleased to see big improvement in back border. No big losses to frost so far (fingers and toes crossed), and hope all Nilgiri's small shrubs have survived this year.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 03/03/2012 00:54

Ooh, we talked about silver foliage last year, didn't we? I think artemisia was mentioned, but I don't know a common name with "-flower". We're all suckers for finishing a job with the very last of our spoons, aren't we - but it's so satisfying!

Thank you for kind thoughts of my shrubs - most seem to have survived although a few are still dubious. I was bracing myself to tell you the eryngiums had been under snow for a week - but huzzah! they seem fine!

hob, so very glad DH has had a good birthday - indulging his addiction in family history research! He so much deserves a break and a rest. I do hope things ease at work for him, as you have so very much on your plates.

Shock at coincidence of HF's first name!

Upward, hope you've had a peaceful, de-polished afternoon!

And wishing us all a peaceful and restorative night's sleep.

shodatin · 03/03/2012 11:08

Morning all, hope upward's sleeping well in own bed and that we're all refreshed. I forgot alarm and need more yoghurt (blank space on shelf last shop) so this morning's about gone and have to drive into mist - ugh.

OP posts:
shodatin · 03/03/2012 15:21

Had another look at seedlings with silver foliage, and wonder if they're cornflowers? Had these last year, but forgot to plant in succession right along back border and leaves were negligible, so they're a possibility. Not coneflowers definitely, but shame part of label's faded.

Remembered to buy some cut-and-come-again lettuce this morning ( friend of a friend gave me some last year, and was amazed at wonderful, clean and un-nibbled crop, grown in containers and raised on platform-affair on patio.) Will organise similar system in cybergarden, tucked away in a corner like RL so we should never run out - if I'm reminded to keep on sowing..

My first Skype message has been and gone, advising us there was lots of background noise (although inaudible to us) then suddenly cutting off and telling us they would reconnect, just as usual in fact. DB skyped DSis last week, being advised she was calling him, while she was actually outside near pool and not even thinking of him - and she pays for this! Huh.

Hope people have something nice to look forward to, and that upward is still enjoying homelife.

It was purple polish, hob - actually looked better than I thought it would. Thanks for the hand cream tip, shodatin - I went and bought some today.

It is lovely to be home, I'm trying to remember to take it easy as I overtired myself on Friday.

I'm glad your shrubs survived, nilgiri

I'm sleeping okish at present, waking up a bit - I hope everyone else had good nights last night.

Cut and come again lettuce sounds a good plan...

I'm trying to get my head round a 3-day hospital stay next week, I've got an operation. I've got as far as pyjamas... :) Being at day services will use time - I know I should go, but a few days to sort myself would be good too ;)

Nilgiri · 03/03/2012 19:55
cityhobgoblin · 03/03/2012 20:52

Thank you Nilgiri , just what was needed . Hope your day has been pleasing

Evening , good people . So , so sorry for being so being rubbish this week . Lots of sleeping ( had of course checked our thread before dozing off accidentally on sofa ) and I've been trying to catch up with myself- does sometimes take all day to cobble together a few words , but am always inspired by the way you all manage to post -especially when you manage a concise but cheering greeting

Oh my goodness , what a week you are having , upward, hope op will help . I wish the mh hospital would be a bit more flexible - I know they're trying to keep an eye on your well being but not helpful if you're going to be extra tired . Couldn't your GP / specialist nurse /consultant tell them to let you have a day or two off ? I know you'd be reluctant to "trouble" them but they want their patient as rested as possible for optimum recovery .
Hope you can get your things ready without unduestress < HF turns up to help >

I love purple nailpolish < hides nasty frayed fingetips & resolves to stop picking at them < shudder > >

Very relieved you got back from drive in the mist , shodatin.
hmmm , I'm wondering about your floral mystery ,, though far less expertly than Nilgiri.
Those Skype mishaps sound most annoying ! Hope you've been feeling reasonably OK.

Been very sunny here & have managed to scythe down some of the jungle the agent was looking appalled bySmile

shodatin · 03/03/2012 20:56

Thanks for the Brew Nilgiri, and hope you managed to finish your latest painting project.
Am not surprised that Friday was tiring upward, as you suddenly had to do everything yourself, or at least organise it, and there's so little one has to do in hospital.
Hope you're not too tired this week, getting ready for yet another hospital stay, and quite agree you could usefully use the time at home, rather than at hospital day services. There might be something interesting or entertaining provided this time, despite all the cuts in funding- I do hope so.
I used to use nail-polish and have manicures when I was working, just as part of being groomed, and nothing like as fancy as present-day designs. Nowadays I only use natural-looking polish on toenails during the summer, in fact I've just started again for this year, and will just add extra coats as it gets chipped, rather than removing it all with the strong chemicals every time. Did you enjoy the polish enough to buy some for yourself upward?

OP posts:
shodatin · 03/03/2012 23:51

Skipping through to find place here, I see I typed hob instead of upward when mentioning nail polish remover, so sorry for elderly moment (and you were both too polite to mention it).
Hob does have good idea of asking specialist nurse or similar to help achieve time off from day hospital, due to imminent operation, and I wonder if this would work for upward? I do hope all goes well with operation, and that you have immediate and excellent result. We'll be thinking of you if you manage to let us know the date, but realise you will probably need all available time for the day-to-day stuff (remembering how much easier life was when part of a couple at these times).
Off to bed now, so goodnight all, eyes closing. Hope you have better sleep experience upward.

Argh , just missed you again , shodatin _ peaceful sleep to you

Good idea to minimise the unecessary harsh substances such as polish remover .You always sound as though you still make the effort to be groomed , now no longer in formal work , though I'm sure youvv 'e found the quickest & leat tiring methods . Am an absolute scarecrow myself , & determined to improve this year !( though I recall seeing on that thread , Nilgiri , the womaan who'd been sanctioned by job centre for not being manicured wetc - argh )

I know upward needs [penty of peace & quiet ( brillian to hear sleep has improved quite a bit ) but I saw one of these the other day & thought a display of such makes a nice qqquiet celebration of upward's homecoming -

Much to be getting on with here ... good to see so many daffodils out and blossomy trees at the correct time , rather than just after Christmas

Hope rain clears for us all

Upwardandonward · 04/03/2012 14:20

Daffodils here too, though today is a bit wet for getting out and about.

I'm sorry to hear about your web issues, hob. I hope site stuff can help. I could jOin the scarecrow brigade myself - trying to make an effort at the moment.

Hope everyone, hob, nilgiri and shodatin is having a good day I'm having a quiet one and will have one afternoon to sort myself for hospital.

cityhobgoblin · 04/03/2012 15:13

Thanks upward , I'll finally investigate it later .
So pleased you're having a quiet afternoon , and hope you will have all that's neded for your stay - please remember something frivolous to take with you !

Glad you have daffodils out round your way & hope it's less wet & you get a spot of sunshine , as we have now

Great flurry of cleaning round here today , then visiting MIL ...

Hope you've had some good chatting / Skpying , shodatin , without frustrating false Skype statuses ( is that right ? )
and that Nilgiri has been able to enjoy some of DP's famous weekend cuisine

shodatin · 04/03/2012 16:00

Reasonable day thanks hob, and luckily no Skype today for a change. The false statuses and cut-offs happen more often than not, so am trying to use email. phone and even snail mail where possible, but other people like it more than I do, which makes it difficult.
Hope you enjoy the visit to MiL and find her still enjoying the social side, also hope you don't run out of spoon s after all the cleaning.
I don't normally do chores on Sundays,- like the day off -
but been pottering quite happily and getting stuff done, as it does seem like change of season now. One more round-up of smaller and warmer clothes and will have enough space in wardrobe, I hope, ready for spring.
