The Cybergarden - Midwinter Edition

Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

What is the Cybergarden for?

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 10:33

What is your interest , *Professor Sunny ? It's a long running but very small support thread and we don't tend to have visitors as it's a refuge in difficult circumstances.

Sorry about sleep problems , shodatin and your thoughts on ILs verey much appreciated -s o true about people acting contarary to own interests , don't we all have to fight that at time .Sorry to bang on about it

Hope you hear from DB & am glad to hear friends retyurned/ing
Of course Nilgiri retains her powers when her internet is down

ProfessorSunny · 12/01/2012 11:20

Oh right. I just saw it on the active threads. Sorry to have butted in.

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 11:44

And I'm sorry for being so aggressive defensive , Professor Sunny- all the best to you

ProfessorSunny · 12/01/2012 11:58

s'ok I will find a different refuge and keep my difficult times to myself.
I know when I am not wanted.

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 12:07

Brewand lemonbalmBrew all round . Hope you can see a light at the end of the tunnel re sleep and feeling horrible , upward

Hope you're feeling more awake now , shodatin . Hmmm , I too have been waking like that this week -could this be our body clocks adhjusting to seasons , or picking up on an atmosphere of people in neighbourhood being awake due to stress back at work after festive season . Has your blackbird started its spring song yet ? They haven't here.

Am hunting for the hand me down phone handset I've stored away sensibly Blush as current one is broken , & generally trying to start spring cleaning as big inspection looming in a couple of weeks

Will continue pondering your pros and ons , upward & hoping you can arange to discuss the issue with a staff member as you need to

Upwardandonward · 12/01/2012 13:59

I should be able to read here, even if I can't post. Thanks for everyone's support thus far, probably helped delay admission.

Upwardandonward · 12/01/2012 14:04

Bit nerve-racking waiting to hear back.

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 14:28

That's a lovely thing to say , upward , and thank you for your support at scariest time with MIL and since .

Hope they findd a bed v soon in a suitable unit . I think you're very wise too go in for necessary djustmentsd & look forwarsd to you feeling much better soon

We'll still be here as usual and will know you're around too ... time for some applewood in our stove
< birds singing in cybergarden >

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 14:28

sorry for shocking typos

shodatin · 12/01/2012 15:57

We've suddenly become a very small (what was the word you used hob? Went with "long-running"...) and I do look forward to hearing from you again upward, and with news that sleep situation is resolved. Nilgiri will find garden almost empty at the weekend, unless of course upward has a very brief stay with no med problems, always a possibility.
I used to think birds started singing spring songs on Feb 14th hob, but maybe that's a local myth. No new noises here at present, just longer days, although have memories of at leaST two horrificly cold Jan.21sts. Glad we have some applewood left for stove, always my favourite and almost worth having winter weather.

shodatin · 12/01/2012 16:02

Forgot to mention hob, but I have a couple of old handsets tucked away too, so let me know if you'd like one (ancient but perfect bt model, smarter French (blue) model but a bit "echoey" so never liked it, both free.

cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 17:58

Oh shodatin am flustered & sniffly at your amazing thoughtfulness. I'm sure mine will turn up eventually , so won't be troubling you for your carefully stored phones , which sound very good , and I am very touched by your kindness - also to upward , who really mustn't feel shy of telling us if there's anything she 'd like

Sorry for long gap - bit tired after afternoon of zombified determination , but at least have done other sorting whilst searching house now even more askew

Hope upward is getting setttled in and is able to manage a bit of tea - thinking of you and applauding your proactive decision < HF hops protectively onto upward's allocated bed > < fellow guests are relieved HF is hypoallergenic >

Hope you too are having rest and meal - I must remember to look at your Eggheads quiz around this time , being a fan too of general knowledge quizzes

Oh yes , I'd completely forgotten Valentine's Day is the traditional birdies date , and I'd say even that is quite early . You can tell the birds round here are pleased with warmer temps , though , from the tone of their singing , & increased activity .
Agree applewood almost worth winter weatherSmile

shodatin · 12/01/2012 21:24

Seems you've been very active for last few hours hob, while I've just been pottering, making fabric flowers to go on rather unisex hat, then eating while watching "Eggheads" and have just got up again- sounds a bit strange for an evening's entertainment, seeing it written down. Hope upward's food and entertainment were also pleasantly relaxing (and your own, of course), and also hope your phone has turned up - never know when you'll suddenly need another one. Keeping two is just hoarding, so will add modern one to charity shop bag, if you're sure about not wanting it.
Hope your special tidying-up effort goes well, but isn't it hard to know when to stop?

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 21:25

< waves to upward > Really hope there are no truly upsetting moments this evening , and you have a more comfortable night than you'd expect

I did far more than usual today , but still haven't managed a proper meal Blush Very pleased because the most intense part of DH's working week is over

Hope you've been having a pleasant evening , shodatin - are you interested in any of the Dickens programmes ? There was a good programmme about the earth's core I bet you were watching

shodatin · 12/01/2012 23:02

Maybe you could do less and eat more tomorrow hob?
I do believe in proper ingredients, if not large meals, and try to have something instant available.

Been avoiding Dickens for a long time, unfortunately, while appreciating the social commentary I don't enjoy it.
Watched programme Earthflight, about birds, with really wonderful camerawork, then forgot to look at Newsnight, which happens all the time. TV is on in bedroom, but I'm moving around the house most evenings, doing bits, checking threads, etc., although forgot to check upwardss other thread and hope no voices tonight.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 12/01/2012 23:06

Ooops sorry , shodatin , didn't realised I'd crossposted . Your early evening doesn't sound at all strange , & your millinery flowers sound lovely- what fabric have you used for them ?

You're very perceptive about my hyperactive tidying , which proved irresistible when I'm feeling better than usual- so much for pacing . It's nice to be nearer my incredibly modest goals Grin Hope you are feeling slightly recovered from extra tiredness earlier in the week

Hope upwardhas not been having too manyunpleasant moments . On a trivial note , hope she's had hot drinks available .
I know everyone in stressful situations tends to feel more daunted at night , so we're hoping you can feel our good wishes , upward, and can try to come silently into the summerhouse for quiet time

< adds a further little log of applewood as cybergardeners deserve an extra trweat today >

shodatin · 12/01/2012 23:17

Flowers are made from various fabrics, suede, wool, fleece, leather and in similar neutral-to-khaki colours, hat being off-white, and can be pulled down over ears so looks better with additional (non-Quaker) decoration. Plus, am quite enjoying cutting and sewing bits, of course, although it is partly displacement activity.

OP posts:
shodatin · 13/01/2012 00:40

Goodnight to anyone around

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 13/01/2012 00:43

Thank you for telling me more , shodatin , as that sounds like something I'd like to make , files plans away > . Oh yes , Quaker bonnets were meant to be stricty non -pleated , weren't theySmile

Hope we all have as peaceful a night as possiible < calming meditations & positive thoughts to upward > Goodnight

shodatin · 13/01/2012 09:32

Morning all.
Thanks for last post (!) with positive thoughts, hob, and flowers are really simple, hardly pleated at all, but still admittedly extraneous decoration.

Hope upward had a better night, despite problems with noise and heat, and that today is positive. Love, x.

cityhobgoblin · 13/01/2012 09:36

Oh dear heavens , lost two posts now - will < wave > at youshodatin and upward and try againBrew

cityhobgoblin · 13/01/2012 10:10

Good morning all , after my grumpy start there - Mn keeps going offline

When I wrote that bit last night "positive thoughts & meditations" I meant from us to upward , rather than urging relentless optimism . It will have taken huge effort of positive self - talk to admit yourself , and no doubt as much again to dd as recommended during the stay .

Hope it wasn't too noisy last night , but can't imagine your slept OK . Hope the doctors will realise how much of a problem it's proving for you & be proactive

Hope you have a sunny morning up there, shodatin , with all frost melted away if you plan any trips out

< HF brings upward & shodatin a miniature daffodil in bud >

cityhobgoblin · 13/01/2012 10:12

PS I was not looking at you askance for your frivolous flowers , fFriend Grin

shodatin · 13/01/2012 13:41

Am sure you were not, fFriend Grin

Thanks for good wishes - had a perfectly safe drive down coast and collected a few bits in sales, including two more of half-price item I got recently, remembering two birthdays due soon. Sun is still out, but sea was definitely winter grey and felt cold looking at it, so am pleased with couple of woollies I bought for self. Also very pleased to have daffodil bud, reminder of spring.

Not long now before Nilgiri will be able to rejoin us again, and am hopeful we might hear some good news from upward, who was indeed very brave and proactive herself, and does deserve to feel much better by now.
