It's my fault that the NHS is too expensive

and I can't do anything about it :(

I don't. I found some of two of them under the bed.

So you've been on your own, no one to get stuff in or prepare food/drink for you?

Have you eaten/drunk at all today?

madmouse · 14/02/2011 16:07

Snowmash have you now gone and cancelled surgery because of your false belief that you cannot use the NHS? Sad - please lady don't do that kind of stuff. Or tell me who you are in rl so I can get you some help. You can't carry on like that xx

snowmash · 14/02/2011 16:13

I don't understand why people are talking about false beliefs and inventing things when I'm not :(

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 16:15

Sorry I sounded like an interrogation. What I mean is, is there anything you need help with, like getting your meds or food? And is there anything we can do to get you that help?

Cos we like you. And we'd love it if you'd stick around.Smile

madmouse · 14/02/2011 17:23

snowmash you are not deliberately inventing things but we can see what you can not and that this that you are not thinking straight. To use the correct term at the moment you lack insight in what is going on. That's the whole problem. To you it seems totally normal that you are not allowed to use the NHS. We on the outside can see that you are acting irrationally and putting yourself in danger as a consequence. And that's why you need proper psychiatric help.

snowmash can you possibly confirm that you are still taking the anti-convulsants that I assume you've been prescribed. They are dangerous to just stop xx

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 19:28

Right, definitely time for dinner. We've expanded our suet pudding repertoire after the triumph of the lemon pudding, and have moved onto Spotted Dog (per Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander.)

So I have classy leftovers to reheat today. What's everyone else having?

snowmash, do you have stuff in - will your carers be able to shop for you tomorrow?

snowmash · 14/02/2011 19:28

madmouse both the meds I found under the bed are neuro ones, enough for the next few days. I've just taken some of the anticonvulsants as it doesn't look like I did earlier, because I can't risk ending up in A&E because that is expensive.

I can't work it out though. I was thinking about ringing to ask if I have a GP appointment this week (can't find paper), but there's nothing about private prices on their website and they go on about their commitment to free care :(

It's really difficult - I thought that might work.

I went and bought some bottles of drink and hovis biscuits so fine til tomorrow thanks. Your puddings sound nice TIANC.

It's fortunate DP (pudding chef extraordinaire) is only here at weekends, or we'd be spherical by now...

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 19:42

Oh that's right, your GP does Tues & Weds, doesn't she? What a good idea - once you've got an appointment you can discuss private care, or whatever you agree is appropriate.

Glad you found some of your drugs, too.

snowmash · 14/02/2011 19:51

I could ring tomorrow and see if I have one or not (they will be booking her appointments for March now, so can't if I haven't got one).

I really only need the two neuro drugs so I can taper them, but what if she's like my old GP? (he said it was ok the few times I should have paid for work things, but that can't happen now). I've just found a website that says you can only get a private prescription from a private GP or if the drug isn't available on the NHS. So maybe I can't ask.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 20:24

You can always ask. In fact, it's always good to ask - websites are so often out of date or plain wrong.

I hope you will be able to see your GP. If not, you could ask to see the practice manager or another member of staff, because they can also tell you about going private, if you explain why it's important to you.

snowmash · 14/02/2011 20:29

That's a good point TIANC - just need to remember to ring between 10:30-12ish - don't like doing it as I feel thick/time wasting for not having written somewhere, but I think I did have an appointment for some time after I got after hospital.

OP posts:
snowmash · 14/02/2011 20:34

Just trying to work out if I need to tell her anything other than I shouldn't be treated on the NHS any more. I need to stop the tablets, but I guess that's part of that.

wish my head was less slow.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 21:33

Heh, at my worst, I couldn't remember why I'd gone into the kitchen, never mind what I was trying to write down, on the pad-with-pencil pinned to the wall so I couldn't lose either. Blush

For the doctor's, you could print out this thread like you did before. That will explain what you're trying to say, whoever you end up seeing.

Btw, not surprised things your head's feeling slow at the moment - sounds like it's taken bit of a battering in the last few weeks what with procedures and drug changes. Hope it's just a temporary effect, and in a few weeks things settle back to normal.

ThisIsANiceCage · 14/02/2011 21:34

And now definitely time for another Brew.

(I know, my life is predictable. But I'm happy! Smile)

shodatin · 14/02/2011 21:35

Hi snowmash, glad you found some more meds, but you'd feel better if you had the anti-depressants too, and they're not expensive anyway.
I'm sure GP will find time to speak to you tomorrow, even if you don't get appointment, and surgery could always give you a repeat for the ones you left at the hospital.
Hope you soon feel better anyway (but I don't fancy your Hovis biscuits, whatever drink goes with them)

I could get triaged by a random GP over the phone if I wanted to talk to someone - can't do that because it's not like I need urgent medical help.

Brew tomorrow
