I am getting back into fasting again and fancied a bit of support. I do a fair bit of 16:8 but after indulgent holidays I do a few 24 hour ones to reset me again i.e from dinner one night to dinner the next.
I'm doing one from dinner tonight so anyone else fancy joining in. Everything is easier with a buddy.

Oh how sad i'll have to just reply to myself. I finished dinner at 7.30 so will fast until 7.30 tomorrow. Good luck me!

Feeling a bit peckish so having another black tea. Beautiful day and lots on my to do list so the hours will fly by.
If no-one else joins I can use this as a sort of diary.😀

Broke my fast at 7.50 and am now relaxing with a cup of tea. I'll see what the scales say tomorrow 😇

2lbs down this morning so I think I'll manage to keep 1lb off by Monday.

Loving your thread😂 how often do you fast? I usually do every Sunday eve to Monday eve, every week

OnlyGreenClothes · 07/08/2026 20:50

I've been fasting 16 / 8 and I've lost 16lbs in 6 weeks! Mind I'm now on holiday and not being strict- I'll probably put lots back on!

QuinoafromKew · 07/08/2026 20:55

Yay! I have friends.
I do 16:8 twice a week and a 24 hour one every second week or three weeks in a row after a holiday @GreenEyesMillennial
If you do @OnlyGreenClothes then do a 24 hours one and you'll rebalance things.

I’ll join! Myself and @ihavenoideawhatmyusernameishave been chatting on another similar thread. I’m committing to 18:6 for the month of August to see how I feel on it and if I lose any weight. So far it feels really positive - I’m finding it easier than expected and feel sharper in the mornings at work.

QuinoafromKew · 09/08/2026 11:02

Welcome @Yesreallyitsme. I was looking for a thread but couldn't see one.
I'll weigh in tomorrow and do either a 18:6 or a 24:0 depending on how I feel in the morning.

I’ll join too!! 😃

sweetchill · 09/08/2026 18:18

Oooh I’d love fasting friends! I have had various periods of 16:8, used to enjoy a weekly long one and a Mn thread to chat about it. I’ve completely lost my fasting mojo with the school hols but plan to start again next week after they go back to school so I’ll report back then!

Ihavenoideawhatmyusernameis · 09/08/2026 19:18

I’m doing 16:8 to shift the last few kg - nearly 6st gone but struggling to move the last few lbs! Would like to be at goal before mid-Oct

QuinoafromKew · 09/08/2026 19:23

Yay @Ihavenoideawhatmyusernameis and @sweetchill Welcome to the thread. I love the many benefits of fasting and since I started doing it enjoy many a food and wine filled evening(like this one in the garden) as I know it's just a balance. If the scales show an increase then a decent day of fasting and it's gone again.
Btw - getting this out here at the start - I do sometimes have a little milk in a cup of tea if I really need it. I am not a purist but since my Covid 16lbs in 8 weeks as I stopped moving and starting eating everything in the cupboard - fasting has meant I lost over 2 stone and I now weigh less that I did before DD2 who is now 22 so it works for me.

Same i would add milk to my coffee in the morning! I think it’s fine!

OnlyGreenClothes · 09/08/2026 19:47

My morning coffee is now black with just 1 sweetener!

Well done. I try to have black tea most of the time but just occasionally I really want a tea with a splash of milk and so I have it. I was described as a 'dirty faster' and not doing it properly on a previous thread. 🙁

I'm doing Fast 800. 18lb's down since 14th July! Feel so much better already.

WeightForMe · 09/08/2026 20:34

@QuinoafromKew great job! I'm fasting so can I join? I'm on hour 29 atm.

Longest I've done is 44.

I've been a little too free with the sugar and I want to break the compulsion because I don't want diabetes like my DM!!

Happy to update weight loss, if any, per day if that helps :)

QuinoafromKew · 09/08/2026 20:45

I do think updating each other on weight loss is helpful as, though it isn't the main focus for some fasters, it is for many. Certainly motivational for me!
34hrs is the best I have managed so far so well done @WeightForMe

Hi team! I’ve never done fasting before but considering it. What are the rules as some of you have mentioned coffee and milk?

sweetchill · 09/08/2026 22:23

Evening all, thanks for the welcome. When I used to do it, I definitely found I lost more when I ‘clean’ fasted, but the main reason for me not having milk in tea was I found it gave me bad breath during a fast! But I only like tea quite milky, I can imagine if you just like a splash the effects are minimal. @BarbarianBabs, I wouldn’t say there are rules - you fast in the way that suits you, but the idea is that at some stage (after about 14hrs is it?) your body starts burning fat, and some suggest that milk or any calories takes the body out of the fasted state so you may lose some of the health benefits. I’d say not to worry about any of that to start, just try having breakfast a bit later, or stop eating a bit earlier, and see how it goes and build up.

When I was in the swing of it I used finish an evening meal 7ish one night, fast all the next day, then break with breakfast or lunch the third day. I loved it and felt so clear and energised on fast days. I used electrolytes when I did long ones which helped massively. But now I am off the wagon, that feels a long way off and I just plan to start with 16:8.

Placemarking 🫶

WeightForMe · 10/08/2026 05:15

-3 lbs @ 38 hours.

Yesreallyitsme · 10/08/2026 12:29

I’m not quite ready for longer fasts just now, but am sticking to 16:8 for all days of August. My plan for September is to do the same, but I’m also hoping that by then the 16:8 will be feeling pretty routine and I can start adding in some morning strength training a few times a week. My step count is good as I do a lot of walking for pleasure, but I want to build in more exercise time.

I found this morning quite challenging after a very busy weekend - just had a chicken salad and feeling good now though! I’ve also got chicken, potato and veg for dinner tonight and then will have something small to snack on around 8pm 🙂.
