Third Time Lucky - Fast to goal

@Bubbles44
@Smartmove
@Everythingaches

This is the new thread to discuss us using fasting to get to our goal weight. Believe it or not but this is the third thread with the first from around 18 months ago!

No I am not at goal yet. I dare not look at what I weighed then as there is a good chance I'm about the same weight now having recently put back on!

Anyway. Now is the time to keep going. To allow for a bit on over Christmas and get a head start for the New Year. 2025 I WILL get to goal!

Anyone else is wearing to join.

My starting weight was probably 12:9 at heaviest. I'm just over 11 stone now and my goal is around 10:3.

Let's go!

Great @Smartmove good motivation to keep going!

Not feeling quite so hungry today. Hopefully post holiday feeling has calmed! Run done fast until 4.

Bubbles44 · 12/06/2025 18:41

Good fast and lots of steps. Feel like I've eaten a lots in my window! Nothing bad but I've had more than usual. Feel like I'll gain tomorrow as carbs etc!

Smartmove · 12/06/2025 21:28

I think I’ll stay the same tmrw. Which is fine. Hungry right now but will continue fasting.
ending on 1300 and only 6000 steps but better than nothing!

tmrw should get lots of steps in and may attempt a workout but not sure I’ll fit it in. Am feeling like I need a glass of wine tmrw :/ but I’ll keep it in cals!

Smartmove · 13/06/2025 07:39

Back to 9.10 :)
just for the weekend

hollyblueivy · 13/06/2025 07:50

Morning @Bubbles44and @SmartmoveI hope you’re both doing ok. I’ve just caught up on the last few messages and it sounds like it’s going in the right direction for you both. I just don’t know how you do such long fasts @Bubbles44especially when you do so much running. @SmartmoveYou're smashing maintenance and seem to be really in tune with how to get the balance just right. How would you say your habits have changed since first starting?

im up to 10:12:8 but think thats only a couple of pound so as long as i have a week or so being reasonable it should drop back down. I still haven’t been to the gym but it remains on the agenda.

OP posts:
Smartmove · 13/06/2025 09:03

@hollyblueivy the 2 biggest changes to lifestyle are

if I’m going out I don’t have a f it day and eat crap all day! I’m still really good in day eat normally and then go and enjoy what I want to eat and drink but only for that one meal

and I consistently excercise now min 3 times a week I try for 4. I never did that ever! I think finding the Caroline girvan online videos are what has changed. I also try walk / park further way and keep a closer eye on my steps

hoping these things help maintain. In terms of food eaten and calories I already knew all that

I’m hoping bei bf this size tastes better than cake and keeps me focussed! I can’t take my eye off the ball though as my natural desire is to over eat and go for the sweet things

Bubbles44 · 13/06/2025 10:59

Hope things are ok @hollyblueivy well done for checking in and not going off the rails with food when things are hard and stressful!

That's fab @Smartmove well done for getting straight back to 9.10 especially after the mid week panic. You know what works for your body! Are you sticking to weighing daily?

Same again for me today. I think lucky as I felt like I ate a lot of carbs yesterday. Thinking about not weighing until Wednesday. Not sure yet as can't help myself usually!

Glad it's the weekend but need to not go off the rails. One blip and it's in the 10's for me!

Smartmove · 13/06/2025 11:34

@Bubbles44 no back to weekly now! And a slow withdrawal obsessing over weight but not taking my eye off the ball!

I don’t have many plans this weekend but I think having 1600/1700 over weekend and then dropping to 1300 over week seems to balance out well for me.

weigh next Friday again x

Smartmove · 14/06/2025 08:45

Yesterday I had that glass of wine a few chocs and a hearty dinner which was very healthy and I was good all day and did half a workout - kids interrupted me!

if I can do that once a week and maintain I can live like this! So today is a good day and a workout and hope I’m the same next weekend as it’s then my bday on Friday and will be cake all weekend!

Bubbles44 · 14/06/2025 17:38

Hope you enjoyed your treats @Smartmove sounds a very good balance and nice to go to a weekly weigh in.

Think I will do weekly whilst trying to get rid of the holiday gain. I had some chocolate yesterday evening. But a good day today. Need to resist cake shops tomorrow!!
Run and gym done today! Should fit in the same tomorrow too!

Smartmove · 15/06/2025 19:27

today has been a total flop! I was good all day then tempted at Sunday roast out and I ended up having a whole roast a full pudding and a glass of wine and then some icecream when I got in?!? I’ve prob have 2000 plus cals

gonna pull back in week as bday weekend !!!!!!!!!

Bubbles44 · 15/06/2025 20:24

Sounds lovely @Smartmove and surely on maintenance you'll be fine. Have a really good week and then ready for your birthday celebrations at the weekend!

Good day today. Really busy week coming up, so hoping leads to a good loss not stress eating! Need to get rid of these sugar cravings. Want a really good week!

hollyblueivy · 16/06/2025 07:48

Bubbles44 · 16/06/2025 17:21

Hi @hollyblueivy how's your day been? Hope it's been positive and you're feeling good. Well done for keeping in the 10s. Hope you get some movement. Sure it'll make you feel good.

Good day here. Will go to the gym this evening too. Not sure when to weigh yet. Maybe Wednesday or maybe Friday!

hollyblueivy · 16/06/2025 18:37

Food wise the day has been good, soup for lunch and a banana in the afternoon. I am hungry for dinner but not sure what to have. The family are having sausages so I want to avoid them. May just have mackerel and eggs or google a cannellini bean recipe.

No exercise as didn’t sleep great and just too tired. It’s now been two months since I’ve been to the gym and I will absolutely without fail be there before the end of this week, hopefully even twice. I know that I have stuff going on but I was so in the habit of going and once the habit was broken it has been super difficult to get back into it. I think consistency is the key, even if it’s only a half or half arsed workout it’s better than nothing.

How are you finding the gym? Are you noticing any change in your body composition?

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 17/06/2025 21:47

How's your week going @hollyblueivy? Are you daily weighing? Have you found it hard being more mindful or ready for it?

Good week here. Not quite as hungry so hopefully back on track. Will weigh in on Friday to keep me motivated.

Yes @hollyblueivy enjoying the gym. Feels like it's fitting in well. Feel like I'll soon need to push harder though as I guess it's quite easy to just do the same things each session. Yeah when I got to 9.9 I definitely felt better/toned! Did you manage a run or gym yet? I'm sure you'll make it part of your routine. Even if it's just aiming for once a week.

Smartmove · 18/06/2025 18:46

So I did I weigh in on Tuesday and was 1.5 up from weekend

yest and today been on maintence cals I don’t think if that’s enough to have dropped it back down . Tmrw I need to eat under. Wasn’t meant to be under but I really wasn’t due to picking at bits and cake in work for my bday today :/ (bday not today but cake seems to have started!)

i did a lot of steps on Tuesday and work out today so can hope!!!

hollyblueivy · 18/06/2025 21:13

@SmartmoveA day or two under should get you back to where you want to be before your birthday. Do you have any special plans?

@Bubbles44Great to hear that you’re enjoying the gym.

I finally made it to the gym today! I can’t believe that was a two month hiatus but it felt so good to be back and I’m hoping that is it now and I can get back into the habit.

I want to move towards a weekly weigh. I’m not quite weighing everyday but do weigh more often that once per week at the moment.

OP posts:
Smartmove · 19/06/2025 07:59

I’ve decided twice a week
once a Tuesday to remind me to behave !! Ow I think I’m at the weight I was on Friday
and once on Friday to check in back close to 9.10. I don’t know if this is obsessive ??? But I don’t care if it keeps me slim ish!

gym today
good food
am 0.5 over hopefully off tmrw

have 2 dinners with friends as we share a bday and a lunch with family and a hugeeeee cake!!!!!!

Smartmove · 19/06/2025 07:59

@hollyblueivy well done for gym xxx

hollyblueivy · 19/06/2025 13:46

Sounds like a lovely birthday weekend. If you can’t celebrate and have fun on your birthday then when can you?! Enjoy 😊

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 20/06/2025 07:02

Happy birthday weekend @Smartmove hope you have a wonderful time. Enjoy the cake and celebrations.

Well done for getting to the gym @hollyblueivy hope you feel better for it and you can build it back into your routine. Hope everything is going ok.

All ok here. Good week, I weighed in the week and still 9.13 the scale isn't budging.
But I've had good steps/work out so a bit frustrating. Woke up today and tummy is so bloated. So I didn't weigh as didn't want to get frustrated and eat rubbish all weekend. All I can do is trust the process and hope it sorts itself out!
Run done! Will get to the gym later.

hollyblueivy · 20/06/2025 07:42

Good idea not to weigh. I should have done the same thing as had pasta last night and felt bloated this morning.

10:13:7 - A whisker under 11 stone and I don’t want to go back there so today has to be a good one.

Aside from the pasta I also started taking creatine yesterday and it apparently holds water in your muscles and can make scale weight go up, so weigh ins may seem a little out of the ordinary for a while.

OP posts:
Smartmove · 20/06/2025 08:12

Morning girls
@Bubbles44 i find it usually takes 2 weeks post holiday to loose the last few pounds so don’t worry! It will come off

@hollyblueivy u done fab keeping below 11 esp as times of stress.

im annoyingly 9.11 so up one. I know this is maintence and it’s only 1!!!! But I was only 0.5 up yest! I did an intense workout and it is very hot so wondering if holding onto water. Or did I just eat too much?! I’m going to enjoy this weekend but try be mindful! I’ll be up on Tuesday weigh in and then need to get back down (but then have guests over the weekend and then before we know it summer holidays!).

Bubbles44 · 23/06/2025 06:38

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a great weekend @Smartmove and enjoyed your celebrations.

@hollyblueivy I'm interested to hear about the creatine. What made you give it a go and how are you finding it? Heard so much about it. Hope your weekend was restful!

Well diet wise mine was a disaster. After not weighing Friday to spur me on i had cake etc and too much chocolate. Saturday was good but yesterday another disaster as was at a friend's. And then came home and kept eating.
Plan is a good week and weigh on Friday and not beat myself up about the weekend!
