Third Time Lucky - Fast to goal

hollyblueivy · 26/11/2024 07:31

@Bubbles44
@Smartmove
@Everythingaches

This is the new thread to discuss us using fasting to get to our goal weight. Believe it or not but this is the third thread with the first from around 18 months ago!

No I am not at goal yet. I dare not look at what I weighed then as there is a good chance I'm about the same weight now having recently put back on!

Anyway. Now is the time to keep going. To allow for a bit on over Christmas and get a head start for the New Year. 2025 I WILL get to goal!

Anyone else is wearing to join.

My starting weight was probably 12:9 at heaviest. I'm just over 11 stone now and my goal is around 10:3.

Let's go!

Totally agree @Smartmove I don't enjoy the sweet treats any more. Much prefer when I've eaten healthy clean food. Really feel how sugar changes my mood and makes me feel so tired. Problem is when tired/emotional/ hormonal it's exactly what I think I need. Then I can't stop!
Hope you have a good day!
Run done, should be a good day!

Smartmove · 18/03/2025 15:42

Day going well! Feeling so much better for heating nourishing delish food!
huge bowl of mango raspberries yoghurts and walnuts
avacafo eggs and low carb bread
home made burgers with greens tonight

Apple snack . 7 of my 5 a day. Workout done 1400 cals

I like eating like this so why do I let myself have excessive sugar! And then feel bloated and horrible!

hollyblueivy · 18/03/2025 16:21

Also so far so good here, mostly eaten fruit and salad today although have had two lattes.

Workout done.

Not sure on dinner yet. Will try to keep it healthy.

hollyblueivy · 19/03/2025 08:23

11:1:4 today. Wont be in 10’s by end of week, I lose too slowly.

looks like next Friday is the ultimate goal as that will be the end of March - I MUST get there by the end of the first three months of the year, what have I been doing?!

OP posts:
Smartmove · 19/03/2025 10:30

workout done
really hungry today. Trying to ignore it! Have a big lunch of salad pulses and tuna planned so will have that at 12!!!
had my fruit and yoghurt

fingers crossed another good day. Weigh in Friday but expect I’ve gained as had 4 days of excess calories this week and pretty sure I can only get away with 2! But then hopefully back down by the Friday after …

@hollyblueivy u may get to 11? Just really focus today and tmrw….walk lots lots of water and lower carbs? Good luck!

Bubbles44 · 19/03/2025 17:07

Hope the day remained positive for you both?

All going ok here. I weighed today and the scale flicked between 9.13 and 10 then settled on 10. Hopefully by Friday. Then it's just keeping it up which is hard. In a good mindset at the moment so trying to go with the momentum before it changes!

Hope you can make 11 by Friday @hollyblueivy.

hollyblueivy · 19/03/2025 18:45

You’re so good at remaining steady and consistent @Bubbles44 even with your workouts. What’s you secret?!

Hope you managed to wait until lunchtime @Smartmoveand lunch filled you up.

I've eaten reasonably well today. Had about 1.5L water and a few coffees. Did a strength workout for a good hour. My mind is on something sweet though.

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 20/03/2025 07:07

Ah I definitely don't feel like I've been consistent with food! I found it harder since October with having too many sweet treats. Definitely feel in a better place at the moment. Hope it continues! I think with exercise I just know it sorts my mind out so makes me feel better. Joining a gym is definitely on my list to do this year!

Hope it's creeping down for you today @hollyblueivy and you get another good day!

Hope all is ok @Smartmove and you've had a good couple of days!

hollyblueivy · 20/03/2025 07:31

11:1:9

I honestly feel so stuck. I’d say my weight crept up from about October also with the biggest gain over Christmas and it’s just taking forever to get back to where I was.

I'm working out around 3 times per week so that’s not an issue. Generally I manage the weekdays ok.

it’s the darned weekends that set me back. Even when I have no plans I still go into weekend mode and feel entitled to have nice things as I’ve worked so hard all week. (Actual work and also work as in health and diet.)

life has to still be lived.

Thats my moan over and done with. I should be ok today. Tomorrow I’ll be out and not home for dinner so will try to make a good choice of if I can. Will also try to stay away from alcohol Friday and Saturday and just have one or two on Sunday.

The weather is going to be glorious today so I’ll use it as a run day rather than the gym. Didn’t sleep well last night so hope energy is there. Otherwise will do a walk or bike ride to still get out.

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 21/03/2025 06:59

9.13 so happy to finally see a 9! Busy day tomorrow, out with DH for the day. Will eat out. Really not interested in cake/sweet treats at the moment so going to try hard to avoid it as I know if I have some I'll start the craving again.

Hope you manage to stick to your plan for the weekend @hollyblueivy.

How are you getting on @Smartmove

hollyblueivy · 21/03/2025 07:33

Yay! Well done @Bubbles44How does that feel psychologically to move back into that stone bracket? Was it the staying away from sugary treats that did the trick? Have a lovely day out tomorrow, bet you’ll feel amazing in whatever you wear!

@SmartmoveAre you weighing today? Good luck if you do.

I’m 11:1:0 so about the same as last Friday and still just teetering on the edge of the ever elusive 10 stone bracket.

it HAS to be next week. I think it will crush me if I go into April still not there. It’s only my actions that will get me there though, so good choices where possible for the next 7 days.

I am also fed up of daily weighing so will be looking forward to Tuesday and Friday weigh only when I get into the 10’s.

Ive had a small bowl of cereal the last couple of days but put the bowl back in the cupboard this morning and will wait for lunch.

OP posts:
Smartmove · 21/03/2025 09:21

Yay fabulous @Bubbles44 !!! Well done. It’s consistency def which is the key-I think having weekends off allow maintence but def I found to loose I had to be on plan over weekends too . Well done for skipping that brekkie!

@hollyblueivy u can do it. Just pretend the weekend is the week and make the same choices. I think u can see u can maintain with weekends off too but if u want to drop this weekend will prob need some thought about it. U have done it before u can do it again!

I didn’t weigh. Not had the best week my cals are coming up quite high. I’ve walked a lot and worked out but pretty sure I’d be up. I’m planning on being totally on maintence cals this week and weekend (no real plans) and I’ll weigh mid next week maybe Tuesday and then sat and hope to be 9.12. Not cuttings cals very low just having 1600 which is prob my maintence I find I can eat. A lot in that feel full and not binge on sugar!

will work out sat and Sunday

I leave for holiday in 2 weeks I would love to be 9.11 for it! I only have lunch out for Mother’s Day before then so actually I could loose a pound in 2 weeks if I’m consistent..,let’s see. Fine with also leaving at 9.12 .

first let me get this bloat off that I can feel!

Bubbles44 · 21/03/2025 16:31

Thanks guys. I know it sounds silly but I think weighing my nuts has made a huge difference. I was eating for too many before especially, when I was trying to cut out sugar. Also, just being in a good mindset which as we all know, comes and goes! Just need a good weekend so I don't go straight up again!

Ah I know it's frustrating @hollyblueivy but you aren't going up so that's great.Hopefully a sensible weekend and not too much weekend bloat to worry about then straight on to losing that pound to get you into the 10's for next week.

Good idea of not weighing @Smartmove I think sometimes it can send us spiralling especially with the pressure of a holiday. Sounds like a good plan. Hope you get to 9.11 before!

hollyblueivy · 22/03/2025 22:18

I knew I wouldn’t be home for dinner yesterday so food wasn’t the best but could have been worse and no alcohol.

Turned down offer of drink and treats from food market today so that was a win. Although food at home was breakfast lunch and dinner with some sweet treats. No alcohol.

No exercise yesterday or today so will try to do something tomorrow. I probably will have a couple of drinks but will try to keep food choices good.

I may have to go to one tin of soup per day from Monday to Friday next week!!

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 23/03/2025 07:54

Yesterday was nice. 3 course meal but long run in morning and lots of walking. Feel so full this morning but straight back on it. Maybe Tuesday weigh in to make sure the weekend weigh has gone.

Great @hollyblueivy sounds like a positive weekend. Hard saying no to treats at markets!

hollyblueivy · 23/03/2025 10:41

Glad you had a lovely meal @Bubbles44sounds like a lot of steps for you yesterday. I just did a short walk as my exercise today. I have some bits to get sorted around the house so movement but not actual exercise.

11:1:9 today. Be good if o can keep it around that tomorrow so I know what I’m working with for the week ahead.

maybe I should forego the alcohol with dinner. Will see.

OP posts:
Bubbles44 · 23/03/2025 18:37

That's great to be that weight on a Sunday @hollyblueivy really hope this is the week for you. Did today go ok?

Today has been mixed. Good day but then got really hungry. Had a pitta and slice of cake. Nearly had loads more random things but stopped myself. Back in routine tomorrow which is needed!

Did you manage a good weekend @Smartmove?

hollyblueivy · 23/03/2025 19:20

Few drinks and quite a few carbs with ice cream for pudding.

just having a coffee and that will be me done for the day and ready to go again tomorrow.

Not sure if I would class today and a good or bad day.

OP posts:
Smartmove · 23/03/2025 20:13

@Bubbles44 mot stilly at all! I had also wondered if it was the nuts so nutirious but I always weigh mine !

so Friday I ended up out - I had 2 drinks and dinner so wasn’t best day. But I didn’t have pudding and I didn’t go into F it mode in the day and ate normally but I def went may over maintence cals

sat - great workout done. Maintence eaten.

sunday - good workout . Maintence eaten . Planned 1300 ate 1650 both days( which is prob a little over)

so for a weekend I would say that’s fine but I know I’m carrying some bloat from last week non stop sugar fest! So I should have been a few hundred below maintence to get rid of it

anyways tmrw I shall try again! 1350 ideal all week to get it off. Finding it hard atm! I don’t know why!!!!! Have holiday in ten days :/

@hollyblueivy spunds like the weekend was much better? I’m sure u will get to below 11 on Friday! Will keep everything crossed

im going to weigh tmrw or Tuesday. Will be up a bit but then really want to be back to 9.12 on Sunday am . Given up wanting to loose that pound for now!

hollyblueivy · 24/03/2025 07:33

@SmartmoveThat sounds absolutely fine for a weekend, a good mix of everything in there. Hopefully the week before holiday will be a good one for you.

11:2:5 for me today. I was 11:3:2 last Monday so slight improvement on last week.

Aim to be in the 10’s by the end of March so hopefully by Friday, but failing that Sunday at the very latest.

I just need to be mindful of every single thing passing my lips this week. May check in here a bit more for accountability.

I’ll try to get some movement every day this week even if just a walk.

what are your plans of action?

OP posts:
Smartmove · 24/03/2025 07:43

Great @hollyblueivy yes log on daily and tell us what u ate! We hear cheering u on haha!

im feeling better today , most focussed and ready to have a good week. Aiming for 1350 today and low carbs and then weigh tmrw

work out Wednesday sat and Sunday
lots of steps planned tmrw as day off

hoping 9.12 for Sunday. Then have a lovely Mother’s Day lunch planned. No plans till then so can def do it.

then I leave on holiday on Thursday and want to be and have to be 9.12 for then too!

im gonna come back massive with all the 3 course meals included in our meal plan!!!!

hollyblueivy · 24/03/2025 13:36

Mid day check in!

3x Coffee with milk, one sugar
1x Pint squash
Chunky Lamb Soup (240 cals)
Fat free cottage cheese stirred into soup (estimate 30 cals)
I don’t know calories of milk and sugar for coffee.

Will report back later after dinner.

Infracat · 24/03/2025 15:00

I've been doing 5:2 for 3 weeks and lost 7lb so far but got a lot to lose by end of June - another stone and a half 😬.
Today is a fast day. I've had:

1 x tea - 15cals
1 x coffee with 1sugar - 38cals
1 x tin of Minestrone soup for lunch - 182cals

Dinner is a deconstructed burrito from Lidl.
349cals

So 585cals altogether. I would like to try and get down to the 500 in future.

I'll go for a swim later too.

Smartmove · 24/03/2025 16:56

@hollyblueivy well done hope dinner was good. That’s not many cals u will loose on that for sure!

@Infracat welcome. Wish I could do even one day that low I just can’t stop eating!

today I’ve ended on 1650 which is my maintence again! My carbs were lower than my weekend but I also didn’t do a workout. I don’t actually know this is my maintence as over the weekend I’ve had meals out where I mega struggle to guesstimate calories so my nutracheck says it’s about this but it could be much higher or lower. Need a week at home not doing anything to know what I’m eating so can be accurate!

anyways def gonna weigh tmrw as think I need a kick up the bum to just have cals on lower side to loose some bloat before it becomes fat!

Bubbles44 · 24/03/2025 17:48

Hello,

That's a great starting point for the week @hollyblueivy hopefully keep you motivated this week. Will you daily weight until you get into the 10's?

@Smartmove sounds like you have a plan before your holidays. Hard finding the perfect balance. You were doing really well with weekend treats and maintaining.

So hard, I was flying with it all last week but feel a bit of a shift this week and thinking more about food. I guess it's the weekend sugar! Good day today though. Run, lots of steps and long fast! Birthday in the house this week so need to be careful as they'll be cake. Need to avoid as one bit might lead to too much. Aim is to remain in the 9's.
Hi @Infracat that's great, are you doing ADF?
