FastingPhilly · 27/03/2024 10:19

Right so I got down to 13 stone 3 last year, and now am 14 stone 5. So annoyed with myself.

I am away on a holiday 24th April and want to lose a stone in 4 weeks through Fast800. I know I can do it but need that kick up the bum to start.

So am going to weigh in and post everyday for 4 weeks.

CW: 14 stone 5
GW: 13stone 5

Today I will have -
Black coffee x 2
1 cup of Bovril - 22 calories
1 Babybel - 50 calories
1:30pm - 2 eggs 2 slices bacon = 240 calories
Prawn curry, cauliflower rice, green bean, broccoli and cauli = 500 calories

And we're off!

What's NEAT @Yogatoga1 ?

Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.

so it’s general movement- walking, cleaning, just general movement in the day.

it’s been shown to make more of a difference to weight control and burn more calories than actual exercise.

when I think back to my younger days when my weight was steady I had a much higher NEAT- even at work I’d be up and down to the library, canteen, to speak to colleagues, then to the supermarket, physically going shopping for clothes, walking to the bus stop or shop etc.

now I sit on my arse with everything delivered to my desktop, speak to colleagues on teams, shopping all delivered, drive everywhere as I’m usually dropping kids off, it’s not surprising the weight is sneaking on, even with exercise.

EasterBunnny · 31/03/2024 15:21

I can’t do the really low calorie diets with exercise.

FastingPhilly · 31/03/2024 16:44

Welcome @VerlynWebbe and @WouldYouLikeMeToSpellThatForYou glad to have you join us!

I try to do 8000k to 10000k steps a day, but not too much exercise apart from that. It helps my MH to go on long walks but as I have U/C thyroid, CFS and Fibromyalgia I have to be careful not to wear myself out too much with exercise!

OP posts:
VerlynWebbe · 31/03/2024 17:59

Brilliant, thanks everyone. I actually would like to do some exercise, because I am too sedentary, but not enough to make me ravenous! At least not yet, haha.

I seem to have a real mental block about movement. I think I have been quite depressed and when I feel that way, I tend to stay still.

NEAT: have just done a ton of garden clearing!

FastingPhilly · 31/03/2024 21:59

My food today was -

2 babybels - 114
3 slices of ham 40

200g beansprouts 100 cals
Cabbage/spring onion/mushrooms/ soy sauce - 100?
Bacon - 50
Chicken - 250 ish

Fage yoghurt - 120
Frozen fruits - 50
Flax seed- 60

Total - 850 ish I think

OP posts:
VerlynWebbe · 01/04/2024 09:38

Right. I am 244lbs, just under (lol). I'm tall, but that's ridiculous.

Today's food will be (1pm) 2 eggs, made into a frittata with mushrooms and vegetables.

Green lentil dhal for dinner (home made) no paratha no rice but with extra veg in there.

A pint of water every 2 hours, couple of cups of tea.

I'm not super calorie counting because I've done this before and I know that's low enough and fine for me. That'll be a 17-hour fast, again, fine for me.

A walk for an hour (an hour I don't have and it's raining.)

I'm really bloody cross with myself. I "should" be something like 160lbs at my height, dear god. Thinking of all the lovely clothes I own and can't wear! What a fanny.

TinasLostHerSparkle · 01/04/2024 10:21

Good morning ladies. Please can I join you?
Long COVID and peri-menopause have been really unkind to me the past few years. My body and mind is not mine and I don't feel like me anymore.

SW: 12St 6

I hope to start tomorrow

FastingPhilly · 01/04/2024 10:32

@VerlynWebbe ooh I love the sound of your meal plan! A frittata is so filling isn't it. I dont really like eggs but force myself as they are so good for low calorie /high protein that fills straight away.

I just keep thinking - this is the LAST time I will ever see that amount on the scales 😁I don't want to keep doing this!!

Welcome @TinasLostHerSparkle ! Great to have you with us 😁I think the last few years have taken their toll haven't they with us all, so I get what you mean. We are taking back that "body control" 👊😁even with our tummy control pants on

Weigh in today -

SW 14st 5
CW 13st 12 - yayyy, half a stone in 5 days! Just have to keep focused now and not rest on my laurels (or self - sabotage as I am prone to do 😫)

Hope everyone has a great day and it keeps sunny for once 🌻🌞

I'm joining this thread. I have something on in 3 weeks and would love to lose 7-10lbs by then.
I'm also going to do some face and hair masks so I can look better.

HurryupHenry · 01/04/2024 11:02

Am I too late to join?
I’ve been reading about fast 800.

VerlynWebbe · 01/04/2024 11:05

@FastingPhilly "I just keep thinking - this is the LAST time I will ever see that amount on the scales 😁I don't want to keep doing this!!" - GOOD POINT!

aprilmapril · 01/04/2024 11:06

hello OP can I join? I could def do with losing some and need some group inspo. No idea what I am at the moment (too scared to look!) but will start with a couple of days OMAD then give it a go! :)

VerlynWebbe · 01/04/2024 11:10

Oh good, lots more people!

One thing I really like about Fast 800 (and then 5:2) is that it totally resets my appetite. When I did it before, I found that I actually couldn't eat a meal the same size as I had been. It took about 8 days to not feel absolutely ravenous but after that I was rarely even hungry. And then I was losing half a pound a day, then half a pound every couple of days...and then with blips it got less easy, of course. But I got down to a much more manageable weight and felt a lot better. I feel like a giantess right now! How have I let this happen to myself? 😭

coldcallerbaiter · 01/04/2024 11:16

I need to lose half stone in 2 weeks for a hol. I was under 10 stone last year and it has crept up by eating normally. I am about 10.9. I lose weight if I eat 1000 or less a day. I cannot manage 800.

To stop night hunger pains I take physllium husk, it swells.

I do not have anything apart from tea with tiny oat milk splash, after 6pm.

I eat breakfast at 10 am or after- so it is a 16 hour break from food.

FastingPhilly · 01/04/2024 11:25

Hi @AstralSpace @HurryupHenry @aprilmapril @EasterBunnny and @coldcallerbaiter

so happy to have you all join us!

Fast800 is such a good kick start, and I agree with what you said @VerlynWebbe I had forgotten, but it reset my appetite and cravings too last time I did it. Then changing to 5:2 was such a luxury and seemed comparatively easy.

We can do this! 💪

VerlynWebbe · 01/04/2024 11:37

I tend to find with hunger that it's such a passing feeling, but one I wasn't really used to. But it doesn't last! I was feeling hungry going to bed some nights and then I would maybe put on an audiobook and my attention would switch from my body to the story: no ill effects from that. This morning I'm quite hungry but it's on and off. Water does a lot to quell it. Just getting used to the sensation takes a little bit of work and diversion but then it becomes less pervasive.
(I can see exactly why people say don't do this method if you've had an eating disorder, though. I haven't and I feel fine with all of the above! I have just been eating too much - genuinely - and need to reset.)

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 01/04/2024 11:38

Can I join please?

Things getting out of hand..and have been for the last 2 years if I'm honest.

Just on way back from a weekend away in Devon, so lots of bad food consumed 😬 lots of walking though (although they say you can't outrun a bad diet so you certainly can't outwalk one!)

Will weigh tomorrow morning but I'm guessing 14st 10. I'm 5'4 so I need to lose 3st.

I will do this!

malachitegreen · 01/04/2024 11:38

Id like to join please. Can I suggest we keep a list of dates and weights to put in each post, so people can see how we are doing overall.

April 1 -14 stone 12 (😩)

I want to be 10 stone 7

HurryupHenry · 01/04/2024 12:10

@VerlynWebbe that’s exactly what I wanted to know! I’m definitely in.

I think cutting down on my tea with semi skimmed milk and one sugar will be hard although I have a few herbal teas and black coffee that I like. I don’t want to waste precious calories on tea!

I am away for work this week but hopefully I can stick to 800 calories/make good choices.

Yay! The one thing I would definitely do in your case is avoid that teaspoonful of sugar in your tea. I know it's not a lot but you're aiming to get into a place where you're not having sugar or other simple carbs, so your body switches from using instantly-available glucose to your stores of glycogen and then fat (not as simple as that I am sure!).

HurryupHenry · 01/04/2024 12:34

@VerlynWebbe thank you. I think that I’ll find it easier just to completely switch to peppermint tea and black coffee. It’s that first one in the morning that will be hard! Although I’ve stopped smoking this year so if I can do that I can give up tea too!

God WELL DONE on giving up smoking! That is such a hard thing to do.

AstralSpace · 01/04/2024 13:11

I'm doing omad today as we're having a family dinner later. It won't be 800 cals but it'll be a healthy ish roast with lots of veg. M tomorrow I'll do the 800 thing.

FastingPhilly · 01/04/2024 14:36
