Fast 800 anyone

Iminthemoneylife · 21/04/2023 07:03

I need to lose 5 stones and I wondering if an 800 fast would work for me. I already feel tired all the time, I am assuming due to my weight.

Has anyone tired it? Does anyone want to do it together?

I'm still here! I've been on holiday for a week so haven't weighed in since 22nd May. I'm 1kg down and so pleased i still managed to lose because we ate out 3 or 4 times during the holiday (we were staying with family) and i was def more relaxed about carbs. I tried to stay strict about the intermittent fasting though. It puts my BMI at currently 30.4 so really hoping in the next week or 2 it will drop below the magic 30!!

mustbefunny · 03/06/2023 12:19

I've made a good start today (Day 1 enthusiasm 😂). I'm one hour off completing a 16hr fast and have re-started C25K.

Day1: 168.5lbs

L: home-made coleslaw, spinach and toasted pecans (379cals)
D: tuna, egg, beetroot, green lentil salad with dressing (414cals)
Plus some calories for an afternoon cuppa with milk.

DH is out tonight so much easier for me to eat early and then go to bed and read my book!

chalkyc2 · 04/06/2023 06:38

Sounds good!

Well done on the 16 hr fast - Its the one part I can't really follow - I do 3 smaller meals with prob more like a 12 hour gap between dinner and breakfast.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 05/06/2023 06:25

Starting Fast 800 - well started yesterday and did not do that well. Was around 1400 cals 🤦🏽‍♀️ but low carb at least.

Will aim to do better. I've got 2 stone to lose and would LOVE to have made a big dent in the next 2/3 weeks. In 2 weeks I've got a wedding and in 3 weeks we go on holiday.

SW: 12stone size 14
GW: 10 stone size 10

My downfall is evenings after toddlers bedtime, I want to sit down and hoover up loads of snacks. I also need to keep busy otherwise I obsess over food

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 05/06/2023 06:57

Waist 31.5 inches also!

LudicrouslyCapaciousBag · 05/06/2023 10:09

Checking in - I'm still here! I've had a few weeks off with some family celebrations and a holiday where I was very relaxed about what I ate so a pleasant surprise to see this morning that I have only regained 2lb, meaning I've maintained a 1 stone 7lb loss from my initial six week 'rapid weight loss'.

Moving forward my plan is to follow a 2:5 pattern: strict 800 calories in the week, more relaxed (but still within my TDEE) at the weekend. This feels very sustainable and I think having weekends 'off' (within reason) will be the key for sticking to this in the long term for me.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 05/06/2023 23:14

Wow so you've done 1.5 stone in 6 weeks @LudicrouslyCapaciousBag , that's amazing.
I'm just starting out, banging headache today , managed to get my carbs to 50g. It's hard going I desperately wanted a sweet treat so had a square of dark choc with peanut butter.

LudicrouslyCapaciousBag · 06/06/2023 09:27

Yes but @WhatWhereWhenHowWhy but that's mostly testament to how much I have to lose!

Good luck. Lots of water will help with the headaches.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 07/06/2023 20:08

Carbs below 50g but massive fail on calories again. At 1400 calories now

LudicrouslyCapaciousBag · 07/06/2023 20:12

That’s not a fail, @WhatWhereWhenHowWhy. Well done for keeping your carbs low; this will help you reach ketosis. Have you tried using a TDEE calculator? 1400 calories is almost certainly still a deficit.

chalkyc2 · 08/06/2023 08:20

I kind of approach it the other way - I have no idea how many carbs or calories I have had every day - I just pick recipes or options from the online plan which add up to 8-900 ish and eat those meals. I have a coffee in the morning and a cup of tea after dinner too which adds calories in milk but I'm trying to make it super easy - I just don't have the headspace to obsess over grams of carbs.

BUT I do try and follow the no snacking principle and try not to eat in the morning until at least 12 hours after dinner the previous night.

7 week weigh in and 12kg lost. Keeping going!

BibbleandSqwauk · 08/06/2023 09:51

Hi all. I've tried to get back on the wagon this week after having a couple of weeks "off". I didn't gain but didn't lose. Hoping to jump start again. I'm a teacher so actually find it easier in term time as the day has such rigid structure. I 100% agree that the key is finding what works for you. If you want snacks late at nigh, make up a plate of cucumber, carrots, a few nuts and some feta. Not perfect but better than crisps. Small changes. A really nice posh cordial with fizzy water might not be fasting technically but if it's a working substitute for a G&T then great.

CrispAppleStrudels · 20/06/2023 13:09

Checking in here. Weighed this morning and despite a gain last week (DH wanted a pizza for his birthday and i couldn't resist joining him plus i had some of DD's birthday cake 😋), i'm still a total of 1kg down this week. Which means my total is 9.5kg loss so far. But amazingly, i'm now JUST under the obese BMI category and back into overweight at 29.9 🎉🎉 There are 4 more weeks until my next fertility clinic weigh in so hoping for another couple of kg loss to be solidly under the 30 cut off and so move onto to the next stage. I also tried on a pair of size 16 trousers today, which were only just slightly too tight - so that's also my next goal. Hope everyone who is still sticking with it is staying strong and well!

chalkyc2 · 22/06/2023 09:18

Still around too - keeping going. 14 kg down. 39 to go!! It feels still like a ridiculously hard and long road ahead - I've not cheated or eaten off plan once in 8 weeks.
Oh well - onwards!!

sandyhappypeople · 22/06/2023 13:35

Hoping I can jump in on this thread to help keep me motivated? Sounds like you guys are doing great!

I've just started today, planning on doing the fast 800 for two weeks and see how it goes after that.

I lost 7.5 stone doing a similar thing about 10 years ago and managed to keep it off for ages, but living with DH and having a baby a couple of years ago has stuffed it all up and I put 3 stone back on over that time. I've tried quite a few times with different things but really struggled to get back into the mindset because my life is so different to what it was then but fingers crossed I can get my head around it this time!

CrispAppleStrudels · 22/06/2023 21:10

Welcome @sandyhappypeople ! Sounds like an amazing weight loss previously!! Well done you!

CrispAppleStrudels · 22/06/2023 21:11

Well done @chalkyc2 !! 14kg is a brilliant achievement 👏👏👏

RagzRebooted · 23/06/2023 20:12

Another new joiner here. Just read the whole thread, well done those of you who are still at it. Some great losses, which is good inspiration.
I started Monday. So far 3 days 800 cal, 1 at 1000 and today at 800 again.
I was already used to fasting and low Carb as done both before, fasting very recently but eating too much (especially carbs and alcohol) so not losing!
I'm finding it quite easy, but that's possibly because DH has been away so I've only had to cook for DCs and myself and temptation of wine isn't as high if drinking alone.
Weighed this morning and already 2kg down (I'm doing kg because I'm too emotionally attached to st/lbs after many losses and gains over the years).

BibbleandSqwauk · 23/06/2023 20:47

I'm still here but really struggling to stay disciplined enough to keep losing. I lost ten pounds weeks ago but ground to a halt. Not sure why, no real dramas. I need to refocus. Well done to those doing somewhat better!

I think this happens to about 80% of people on any diet, TBH. The initial phase is all new and shiny and motivating which gets you through the first phase, then that wears off and you have to try and keep up a new but difficult habit that's very different to how you normally live.
I think the key is finding new 'new bits' to make it more interesting (maybe a new recipe book or a new exercise) and look for extra motivation either from revisiting why you're doing it, or looking at clothes you'd like to buy or doing a really strict few days and seeing the results in the scales.

I lost 50lbs 6 years ago when I did low Carb (started with a few weeks of 800cals then didn't calorie count) pretty consistently for ages. So I know I CAN stick to something, but it's pretty much the only time in my life that I managed it! So this is the advice I am giving myself.

Thank you 😊 I found it quite easy last time I did it but everytime I've tried since having the little un I just haven't been able to stick to it, I'm hoping this time will be different!

My DH has just had a little health scare a couple of weeks ago (nothing serious as it turns out) so I'm trying to get him on board with the healthier eating too.. he's such a bad influence!

This is fantastic, you should be really proud! It's amazing how fast time seems to go, until you're on a diet and then it seems to go so slowwwwlllllly!

Hi👋sounds like you've had a great first week! Well done! It's funny you should say that about the KG things, I'm using a tracker app for meals and weight etc and it records everything in KG and it doesn't mean anything to me at all, which I decided was a good thing! I've been fluctuating for the past two years and seem to get 'stuck' at certain points, so I'm trying it this way instead!

If you're maintaining then that's great! I think diets do get really monotonous after a while and it becomes really quite hard to maintain, I had to condition myself when I had some success last time to just see food purely as fuel, I didn't bother cooking fancy meals or new recipes, all the joy had completely gone out of eating, so twice a day I just shovelled something quick in around 300/400 calories, and then didn't think about it till next meal, but because I was eating so little I didn't feel hungry in between, I've found it so frustrating not to be able to do it since, but back then I lived on my own, no one else to think about, I do think that's why I've had such a problem with it since, with a DH and toddler to cook for too! Maybe I should kick them out! 😎

RagzRebooted · 23/06/2023 23:52

@sandyhappypeople I've always said that when all the kids leave home I can just cook and eat healthy food, have no junk in the house and be slim. Plus have time and energy for exercise!
However, I want to be fit for my 40th in 2 years, so I will have to work around them as the youngest is only 13 so not going anywhere for a while.
Until a month ago, DH was at home all the time and doing all the cooking in the week. So I'd come home from work to my dinner made for me, which was lovely obviously but DH's dinners were very beige (with the occasional excellent chili!) and not all conducive to weight loss. Now he's working and isn't even here for dinner, so I've been making my dinner while cooking for the DCs. Middle child is into food and fitness and actually asked to eat what I'm having, so that will help as I've got someone here keeping me on track and appreciating my healthy meals.
