Fast 800 anyone

Iminthemoneylife · 21/04/2023 07:03

I need to lose 5 stones and I wondering if an 800 fast would work for me. I already feel tired all the time, I am assuming due to my weight.

Has anyone tired it? Does anyone want to do it together?

How is everyone doing? Yesterday i did another weigh and i lost 2kg last week, which takes my total to 5kg so far. Very chuffed as it takes me into the next stone bracket i think!! 🎉

I'm definitely finding that i am a lot more conscious of food now and actively stopping myself snacking, which i've never really done before. DH has been doing WW for a while (he's about to move from overweight into normal weight, which he is really pleased about!) but he is saying that he thinks Fast 800 is easier to follow and less faffy recipes.

Next target is another 4kg to take my BMI down into the next category. Really hoping for a good couple of weeks to get there in the next month or so!!

cloudjumper · 09/05/2023 16:43

First weigh in today, and I lost 3.2 kg in a week! Very pleased with that, hoping it'll continue on that trajectory. After week, I would say that I'm still trying to find my feet with this, but I am managing better than I expected- the weekend away was tough, but I didn't fall off the wagon, yay Smile

I still am hungry/ravenous a lot of the time, when does that ease off?!

chalkyc2 · 10/05/2023 08:07

I find fizzy water takes the edge off the hunger...I definitely feel way more thirsty at the moment.

Nearing the end of week 3 here - weigh in tomorrow but my god it's been slow this week - it will barely be a kilo which I feel totally cheated by! Feels like it shouldn't be this hard to lose a kilo a week. But will keep going because it's better than putting on a kilo a week which is entirely achievable!

LudicrouslyCapaciousBag · 10/05/2023 09:40

Hello all. No weigh-in for me until the end of the week but a nice non-scale victory today as I have ordered a pair of 'inbetweener' cheap jeans from Sainsbury's as my size 20s are now ridiculous clown pants.

@chalkyc2 I have found the same. I think we underestimate how much off our fluid intake we get from food. Fizzy water really helps, and my Sodastream has really come into its own over the last few weeks.

50FootWave · 10/05/2023 15:52

Hello all - well done on all the losses, and a general well done for just keeping going!

I'm away now until Monday, will try my hardest but it's not going to be easy to stick to the plan whilst away.

Wish me luck!

chalkyc2 · 11/05/2023 08:30

Feeling a bit down. - 0.8kg in a week. Same weight for 4 days (actually went up). Is this a plateaux?!? I don't like it. I haven't cheated, my only vice is 3 cups of tea a day.

Oh well. Keep going I suppose but it's a bit dispiriting especially when there's a good 7 stone to shed.

cloudjumper · 11/05/2023 18:01

A week and a half, and I'm really struggling with low energy levels. I have scaled down the intensity of my training a lot, but I still feel flat, esp in the second half of the day, and training is a struggle - nothing in the tank! I sleep more than usual (going to bed earlier to avoid the late night snacking), but it doesn't help Confused Do I just have to accept that I'm going to feel like this for the next 2 and a bit months?! They do recommend exercising in the books... but I'm not enjoying exercising feeling like this, it's demotivating.

BibbleandSqwauk · 13/05/2023 06:49

Hey everyone...sorry you are struggling @cloudjumper and @chalkyc2 . I know what you mean about the weight loss slowing down . we're not far enough in for this to have become the new normal yet so it feels like a lot of effort for little return but remember the long term goal. A while back I was using Noom and one of their things that they often emphasize is that loss is not linear..it does go up and fuen but the overall direction over x months will be down if you stick at it. I just know that I've spent the last fifteen years vaguely trying to lose 4 stone and I'm exactly the same as I was, so I'm determined this time, that before I'm 50 it will be gone (three years away). I have to keep reminding myself to drink water but no breakfast is a habit now and I genuinely am finding I don't want to muck it up with treats ..even if other people do keep trying to get me too (why, why do they do that???)

Anyway, I'm away this weekend for a walking trip so that will be interesting on the exercise front. Might be difficult to keep to 800-1000 just out of availablity of food but we'll see. Good luck everyone, and have a great weekend 👍

chalkyc2 · 18/05/2023 10:08

Checking in!! Still going and 4 weeks in. 1.3kg down this week and that makes 8kg in total. I survived a night out on water and was able to select great options from the menu - grilled prawn starter and steak main with green beans. Didn't mean that I wouldn't have loved to have the fries and Prosecco and dessert though!!

I do have to admit that my body feels better having cut out either the white carbs/gluten and/or sugar. I had my gallbladder taken out a year ago and since then have been super...errr...gassy - particularly in the evenings. Now I'm not and my digestion feels better. I was worried about the relatively high fat content and no gall bladder but that seems ok at the moment.

Hope everyone still good and holding strong! My plan now is to up the exercise. I have the peloton and manage that 2-3 times a week. I want to investigate a personal trainer for weight training - apparently the thing for women reaching peri/menopause. Also I might try running soon - I used to love running but a- the earth might move at current weight and b- Achilles/plantar fasciitis issues particularly when heavier.

BibbleandSqwauk · 21/05/2023 20:14

Glad someone is still here! I've stalled this week but pretty sure I know why...basically a couple if hefty v&ts every night..tough week. I took my dad out for lunch today too so I'm blowing it off today and having wine and chocolate but I'll saddle up again tomorrow. Actually was reading a thing about how some studies have shown a 2/3 week on and 1 off approach actually achieved better overall loss..that's what I'm telling myself anyway!!

CrispAppleStrudels · 23/05/2023 09:22

0.6kg loss for me this week, which takes my total to around 7.5kg. A little bit disappointed but the online programme did say to expect plateaus and to not be disheartened. Plus i had an afternoon tea at the weekend with a prosecco! 🤭

So will really be trying hard this week before we go on holiday next week! I need to lose another 3kg before July to qualify for our fertility treatment so feeling hopeful that i can still make that work!

wednesdaynamesep · 23/05/2023 13:08

Joining you all. 1 week in and beginning to struggle for meal ideas. I haven't weighed myself yet at all either. It's not been as awful as I thought it would so I'm concerned I might be doing it wrong! I'm not eating until lunchtime - just black tea or coffee or water. And then trying to stick within 800 limits until bed time. Does that sound about right?

chalkyc2 · 23/05/2023 19:19

Hey @wednesdaynamesep - well done!! Do you have any of the books or app? There's loads of recipes and they explain the 'free' veg concept too which is super helpful! As long as your 800 Cals come from mostly protein and veg you're on the right track....

chalkyc2 · 23/05/2023 19:21

@CrispAppleStrudels I'm sure you can do 3kg by July!! And that's a pretty strong incentive right?!

Yddraigoldragon · 24/05/2023 21:14

Evening all, glad to find this thread! I started on the 800 on 30/4, have lost 11lb so far, a few ups and downs along the way. Kids birthday party, BBQ and cake :( was lovely but it took me a few days to recover.
I am using Slimfast this time for convenience (I lost a few stone a few years ago, reversed my type2 diabetes etc but then life got in the way and I am back needing to restart). I alternate a shake for breakfast with omelette, or cold meat and salad, it seems to work.

My top tip is fizzy water in the fridge, with a dash of lemon or lime juice, really refreshing. Also, ruby grapefruit are lovely!

chalkyc2 · 25/05/2023 10:13

I second the fuzzy water with lemon/lime - this constitutes a treat these days!!

Another week another kg down. So 9kg in 5 weeks. I bought the keto cookbook so I'm going to have a look through that at the weekend.

chalkyc2 · 25/05/2023 10:13

Fizzy. Fizzy water!

tanoshii · 25/05/2023 11:40

Fizzy water with apple cider vinegar is also great. Be sure to use a straw though, as it's not great for your tooth enamel.

I've also discovered chocolate purition meal replacement shakes, which I have for lunch with Plenish almond milk, Greek yoghurt, celery, 1x frozen strawberry and lots of ice. It's super filling and has no nasties in the ingredients list. Wish I'd discovered it earlier as thought it was impossible to lose weight after going on HRT.. lost a stone so far in 4 weeks, with perhaps another stone to go for my happy weight - which I had always thought would be impossible to achieve in my 50s..

mustbefunny · 25/05/2023 12:21

Hi! I'm lurking around these threads as a pre-cursor to doing the very fast 800 throughout June and July. I have a holiday next week to get through first but am taking small steps by increasing water intake. I also have a Tesco order open which I'm adding in anything I hear recommended - have just added fizzy water!

Yddraigoldragon · 25/05/2023 14:07

I would also recommend going low carb if you can for a week or so before. Focus on meat n veg or salad, have butter or oil but no spuds, pasta cake, sugar etc. I find the removal of carbs AND the calorie reduction too much in one go, so a low carb week or two prior to 800 helps to break up the pain. It helps me anyway, it will certainly help if your diet is sugar heavy.

tanoshii · 25/05/2023 14:14

Yep - agree, low carb and calorie reduction works. I always maintained my weight prior to menopause by being low carb, but think those days are behind me..I'll probably have to do 5:2 & low carb or similar to maintain in the future. I already do intermittent fasting.
Walking at least 10k steps a day also has been great for me. Planning on doing more weight training too going forwards when I've shed more fat and can increase my calories a bit..

mustbefunny · 26/05/2023 18:30

Thank you! That's a good idea. I can definitely take or leave the sweet stuff but do like a carb (and wine!). I'll try and ease off over the week. I'll definitely be doing 10k+ steps a day on holiday so that's a good start.

chalkyc2 · 01/06/2023 08:18

Anyone still here? 6 weeks and I'm determinedly keeping going. 10.5kg down.

My plan is to continue on what I'm doing now (loose fast 800) up until I go away on hols mid August, relax for a couple of weeks and then back on it in September.

43kg to go....😳

mustbefunny · 01/06/2023 10:07

Hi @chalkyc2 I'm here, preparing to get started properly on Saturday once I'm back from holiday and my healthy shopping arrives! I've been looking though the F800 recipe book and trying to make a meal plan for next week. I don't want to cook separately for me so I'm trying to think of things where I can swap out a carb for something else e.g. I'm going to do Turkey fajitas but have mine in lettuce wraps instead of wraps and I'll do meatballs but have a load of veg or zero noodles instead of spaghetti. I've also had to buy new scales which don't arrive til Saturday so I'm not actually sure yet what I currently weigh 🙈

chalkyc2 · 01/06/2023 13:27

Sounds a good plan - there's loads where if you have a small version of the protein and add veg the recipes work for the family! I make my husband eat what I'm having but I usually feed the kids separately in the week as simpler!
Good Luck!
