Non-alcoholic beers work out at 200-300 cals a bottle (I think) and they are empty calories. Maybe it’s a good idea to ditch them for a while.

I’ve been on here for years, so I know all of the tips, tricks and rules. Struggle to stick to them myself though! Blush

Smashed my PT session this morning and still on the black coffee. Can’t decide if I should fast today or tomorrow. I’m thinking if I do it tomorrow, I won’t drink!

KylieKoKo · 11/03/2021 12:27

@Lilice I don't think it's reasonable to expect weight loss in your birthday week Grin

I would see non-alcoholic beers as being like any other fizzy drink, only for an occasional treat if you want to lose weight.

My weakness is Fenton rose lemonade but I'm avoiding it at the moment.

KylieKoKo · 11/03/2021 12:28

@MazDazzle if I were you I'd get it out of the way today if you're feeling ok on just coffee so far.

Lilice · 11/03/2021 12:28

@MazDazzle my non alcoholic beers are 39 calories per bottle ( blue becks)

So how do I calculate my tdee? With my pre pregnancy normal weight or my actual unhappy weight?

Lilice · 11/03/2021 12:30

You're right, I should either drink real alcohol or water 😁

Lilice · 11/03/2021 12:34

Which calculator should I use to calculate my tdee? Could someone please recommend a reliable website?

KylieKoKo · 11/03/2021 13:01

I don't think 39 calories would make that much difference unless you're drinking loads of them.

MazDazzle · 11/03/2021 13:12

If you use the TDEE calculator linked in the opening post, try it for both weights and see what the difference is. For me, the difference is only 200 cals between my current weight and my goal.

You’re making those Blue Becks sound appealing! Maybe I should try them. Might help me cut out the wine intake.

Lilice · 11/03/2021 14:42

@MazDazzle thank you, I just saw that page with all the info. I hadn't seen it before. I need to sit down and have a proper read through it.

So I calculated my tdee and you're right, there's only 100 cals for me between my normal weight and my actual weight. Bit I'm surprised how high my tdee is: 1659 (using my pre pregnancy weight of 57 kgs ( im 64 at the moment) and light exercise even though I exercise more, if I selected moderate I had 1870). Im pretty sure that I stick to my tdee but you're right and I will enter the data in my food diary for a whole week to see what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to change the way I exercise as well, after speaking to a friend of mine. He said I do too much endurance and that I should do high intensity training instead. So I'll give that a go as well.

inthethickofit19 · 11/03/2021 14:45

Here I am again.. life is just turbulent at the moment but my weight is stressing me out.. so here goes again.

Starting weight 64.1kilos.

Not sure if I'll fast until Monday but I will try to make better choices till then.

Benjispruce2 · 11/03/2021 16:06

Thanks everyone. Can’t believe my mood is being dictated by those little digits on my scales!
@Lilice I use sedentary happy TDEE. Then you’ll know that if you miss exercise you shouldn’t gain. When you reach your happy weight, then you can eat up to the higher TDEE with exercise.
Today I had a small amount of turkey steak with sauerkraut for lunch(100 cals) and loads of water all day.
Still going strong and not sure what’s for dinner yet. I’m still cooking for DH and DD every night so I try to fit around that. Will have a think.

KobaniDaughters · 11/03/2021 16:10

FD here too with you @Benjispruce2 agree it’s annoying having to fit around cooking for others. At the moment I have PT on Thursday evenings so DH is in charge which makes me life easier to fast (though have to admit fasting through physical therapy isn’t ideal)

Have planned out and inputted my calories for today. The binge mentality has come back to me so I’m looking forward to today and will do a proper TDEE day tomorrow

KylieKoKo · 11/03/2021 16:20

I NEVER cook anything for anyone else that I am not eating on my fast days. Sometimes I will cook a double portion and DP will sort himself some rice or whatever to go with it but we normally fend for ourselves on my fast days.

I don't think I could bear to delicious calorific meals for DP and eat 500 calories.

Benjispruce2 · 11/03/2021 16:24

Perhaps my willpower is pretty good then. Just trying to keep things normal for my teen DD. DH happy to cook but I’m home now and he’s not back until 6.30.

KobaniDaughters · 11/03/2021 16:32

Key is not to cook them something delicious @KylieKoKo Wink

Or I make a yummy meal that fits within my calories and is bulked up for the rest of them with rice and pasta

Benjispruce2 · 11/03/2021 17:30

Ok I’m making omelettes for all. They’ll have more cheese and some chorizo in theirs and eat with oven chips and salad. I’ll have mine with stir fried broccoli.

KylieKoKo · 11/03/2021 18:02

I think your willpower is amazing @benjispruce2. I don't think I could look at a chorizo on a fast day, let alone cook one for others. I'm in awe!

Benjispruce2 · 11/03/2021 18:26

I just think of the calories Grin.

Lilice
My thought is that your NFDs are letting you down.

It might be worth mixing it up completely by doing a week of
happy weight sedentary TDEE
tracking on MFP
to see where you'll be when you get to happy weight
