Yes I’m weird checking portions against labels and weighing. I only walk daily and never eat back cals. Today I’ve had 1100 cals. TDEE for sedentary 9st 5 is 1467. I only ever eat that on Fri, Sat and Sun. I can feel loss and see it , just stopped showing in the scales!

Benjispruce2 · 09/03/2021 20:51

Always not weird!

ilovebagpuss · 09/03/2021 21:37

Well my Monday fast was ok for a first go back came in around 700 but I’m being gentle on myself.
Going to go for 600 tomorrow just off to plan what to take to work. Possibly a cup a soup and apple.
Dinner is homemade ragu and small portion on pasta.

ListeningQuietly · 09/03/2021 21:41

benji
in a normal year
(pre covid)
I'm a gym bunny
so, over the summer holiday when childcare stuffed my habit
I'd put on up to 3 inches around my waist
while not moving on the scales
because my muscles went blerugh

if you can stay active your frame will become leaner
and in the long run you will reach and stay at a happy weight

Hello all, yikes it's been a while since I was here. Lockdown and a sports injury last summer have meant I've been eating too much and have been too sedentary. I was meaning to start up again with the new year and then with the kids being home from school put it off.

But I always say that Spring is a better time for resolutions and new beginnings.

Monday was my first day back, and I've just completed my B2B with 641 yesterday and 481 today. I've forgotten how much I like some of my fasting day recipes! I often check in and watch the chatter as a way to get through hunger waves so thank you all in advance.

I have 9 kilos to loose. I'm hoping the first half comes off quite quickly so that I can start running in ernest again. I've tried a few times and it's so hard - like trying to run while carrying 6 bags of flour Blush

I don't normally mfp, but I think for the first 2 or 3 weeks I will as part of my wake up call. Off to go check what my current TDEE is

ListeningQuietly · 09/03/2021 21:55

Hi Killing,
Welcome back to the gang
and yes, spring is a good time to restart

I’m hoping for a sudden loss. Still a little sluggish in the digestion department. Will give it another week.

MazDazzle · 09/03/2021 23:22

That’s what I’m aiming for Benji. I managed last week Sun-Thurs, but drank the next 4 evenings in a row.

Lilice · 10/03/2021 10:26

Morning everyone! Who's fasting today? I hope it will be easier for me today after Monday's struggle 🤞 I havent planned my meals though. I think it will be an aubergine and brocoli, with a boiled egg. I should really put more effort into it.

What is mfp?

Lilice · 10/03/2021 10:27

I'm weighing myself tomorrow 😱 the last time was a couple of weeks ago, so im hoping to see a loss 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

KylieKoKo · 10/03/2021 10:39

@Lilice I am also fasting.

My main meal is some salmon cooked with olive oil sprat with a huge salad of spiralized courgette and tomato, dressed with lemon juice and salt and pepper.

CycleGirl20 · 10/03/2021 10:41

Hello 👋. Any tips for me just starting the fast800? I've had a bit of a diet disaster over the past 3 months and plateaud in spite of a herculean effort. I think I might have overdone the fasting (water fast Mon-wed evening, wed dinner, water fast Thursday to Friday evening, Friday dinner, normal weekend). I lost 5kg in Jan, then 1kg in Feb. I think my body might not be too happy with extended fasts so I'm gonna try the fast800 as it's a bit more consistent and I can focus a bit more on my nutrition.

Anyone had any experiences where you've tried really hard on one diet and it not really worked but had success on the fast800? My BMI is currently 30.5 and I'm desperate to get it below 30 in the next few weeks so my fertility doctor will stop writing that I'm obese on my paperwork 😅

harriethoyle · 10/03/2021 11:56

@Lilice if I can give you one piece of advice (which I often don't take myself!) is PLAN your FD's - a) it's much easier to avoid temptation when it's set in stone b) having the food in and ready means you're more likely to stick to it. I'm much more likely to go off piste if I haven't planned and bought my food in advance. Fingers X for weigh in tomorrow - you can do it!

Benjispruce2 · 10/03/2021 12:09

Mfp is a calorie counting app. Pod to use to get used to correct portions.

Benjispruce2 · 10/03/2021 12:27

Good not pod

KylieKoKo · 10/03/2021 12:40

@CycleGirl20 I have never tried fast 800 as the idea of eating only 800 calories a day for weeks scares me!

There is a separate thread for it which might be more useful for you www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/4063831-blood-sugar-diet-fast-800-thread-22

PrancingQueen · 10/03/2021 12:56

Hello all 👋🏼
I’ve got around 4 stone to lose and started 5:2 four weeks ago after getting weighed at the doctors...suffice to say it was the kick up the arse that I needed.
I’m tall at 5ft9 and have a big frame, but 16 1/2 stone. Yikes!

So I’ll join you all if I may?
I’m fasting on Mondays and Wednesdays, eating 500-600 cals in the evenings only.
I’m relying on calorie counted ready meals on fast days as it’s quick and easy.

I’m getting weighed again on Monday so I’ll post back with the results. I’m not counting on NFDs btw.

KylieKoKo · 10/03/2021 13:00

Welcome @PrancingQueen!

I don't count on NFDs either. Which was working for me but in the past month I slipped into the bad habits of takeaways, wine and crisps so I am cutting them out in the week which has been reflected in barely and weight loss (although I see not gaining as progress from where I was). I am cutting those out in the week to see if that kickstarts my weight loss.

PrancingQueen · 10/03/2021 14:31

Thanks @KylieKoKo Smile
Sounds like a plan. It’s such a flexible way of eating isn’t it?
I’m trying to make better choices on NFDs, but I want weekends to be relaxed so I can stick to it, sustain any weight loss and it’ll become a long term habit!
(Fingers crossed)

KobaniDaughters · 10/03/2021 14:57

Welcome @PrancingQueen

@CycleGirl20 have to say I’ve never tried the bloody sugar diet either - the thing I like about 5:2 is flexibility and only being super strict 2 days a week, I find that easier to stick to

harriethoyle · 10/03/2021 15:05

I think I've got a tapeworm... can't stop eating... HELP!!

Might attempt a FD tomorrow to rein myself back in, frankly!

harriethoyle · 10/03/2021 15:08

I wouldn't like 800 cals every day either @KylieKoKo @KobaniDaughters. Sometimes the only thing that gets me through a fast day is the knowledge it's only one of two. Doing the equivalent of a mini every day would not be a sustainable WOL for me...

Lilice · 10/03/2021 17:10

Your salad sounds delicious @KylieKoKo I love salmon. Do you cook your spiralling courgettes or eat them raw?
So far, I've had 2 eggs and an aubergine. Im starving. My husband made cauliflower rice, ill have some for tonight. You're right @harriethoyle I need to plan my meals. I manage to stick to my FDs but I'm often miserable and waiting for the day to end... wishing time away... not good.
I dont count calories on NFDs either, because otherwise I'm constantly on my phone entering data and I find it annoying. I've successfully lost weight on the 5 2 in the past (basically after each pregnancy) and I never counted calories on NFDs so it's not a problem for me. I find that I'm less hungry anyway and way more conscious of how many calories it all adds up.
I couldn't do the 800 either. The only way I can survive the 5 2 is knowing that I will be able to eat whatever I want the next day. That's why I love this diet, it's the only one that works for me.

Lilice · 10/03/2021 17:12

@KobaniDaughters does it help to drink it with a straw? I might give it a try. No coffee is toooooo hard

Lilice · 10/03/2021 17:14

Thank you @Benjispruce2 , I thought it was some dieting term I didn't know lol
