@Benjispruce2 I know how frustrating it is. But you are really nearly there, and it looks like you're doing all the right things. Maybe you could add a third fast day next week, just to jump start your metabolism?

Benjispruce2 · 06/03/2021 09:42

Shock @Lilice I’m not sure I have the willpower. I could probably do a mini. Thanks for your support.

ListeningQuietly · 06/03/2021 10:02

Benji
AS your BMI drops the net effect of each fast drops to the rate of loss will slow - that's phyiscs for you.
One thing to work on it increasing the amount of "toning" exercise you do
as that will make you look leaner for the same weight

ListeningQuietly · 06/03/2021 10:03

I had a very bouncy email from BigChoc last night.
Her gym opens on Monday so she will be able to get back into lifting and toning.

Exercise will not make you lose weight
but it will have multiple extra health benefits

especially for those of us looking at menopause in the rear view mirror

My BMI is 25.1 and I was listed as overweight. What's an ideal BMI?
I'm really enjoying being part of this group. Everybody is so supportive.

ListeningQuietly · 06/03/2021 10:17

Hi Rara
Everybody has a different ideal BMI.
It depends on height and build and age.
These pictures are useful
height-weight-chart.com/

You have to take into account muscle mass, body fat, waist to height ratio.

For me, my ideal is 21, anything over 23 and I look fat.
A gym friend looks best at around 19 (she is very petite)
Another gym friend looks ill below 24
it really varies

@RaraRachael I use this www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/bmi-calculator/

Im still overweight too 😭 I need to lose 3 kgs to be in the normal zone again. But im aiming to lose a lot more than that

KobaniDaughters · 06/03/2021 15:34

Does anyone have a good way to check your body fat percentage without scales?

ListeningQuietly · 06/03/2021 17:14

Kobani
Not that are accurate.
When my gym is open I have access to a Boditrax machine^

but the 1970's Special K "pinch an inch" works for me ... if I can pinch an inch anywhere on my back or under my arms, I'm overweight
(belly is different because I've had kids!)

Ha ha i remember that ad! Today has been interesting as I’ve had lots of study to do and hours have flown. I’m s aim is to be in the middle of my bmi healthy zone, which is 21.5-22. I had a poached egg on toast this morning and I had a 200g baked potato with beans for lunch at 2 and I’m still really full.

Benjispruce2 · 06/03/2021 18:30

Sorry, need my specs!

20FlowerPower · 06/03/2021 20:24

Finishing up a Mini FD today on circa 970. Not been hungry all day and I'm wondering if I'm coming down with the inevitable cold that DS has already picked up after just 2 weeks back at school Hmm

Benjispruce2 · 06/03/2021 21:34

Get a Covid test!

20FlowerPower · 06/03/2021 22:08

We're in an area of Scotland where it would be VERY unlikely as case numbers are so ridiculously low (thankfully I should add!) No testable symptoms either - DS has a sniffly nose and I'm more than likely tired due to unexpected "period" bleed and the shift back to 5:2. Thanks though - and let's hope it's not famous last words and all that!!

Benjispruce2 · 06/03/2021 22:09

Fair enough. Just remember that levels of seasonal colds and flu are unseasonably low at the moment.

Lilice · 07/03/2021 10:07

I had covid back in January, I had to lie to get tested as I had none of the typical symptoms. Since then they've opened testing centers for asymptomatic people.
There were a lot of cases in my area anyway, we were several to have it the same week on my street. Shows how you can get it just by breathing the same air on the street!

Benjispruce2 · 07/03/2021 11:03

If I had cold symptoms I’d get a test. Luckily I’m getting twice weekly lateral flow tests at school at the moment.
Last night DH and DD fancied a burger night. We made homemade lean burgers and I had mine with lots of salad and I’m proud that I only picked 3 of DH’s oven fries.
No wine today. Hoping that will help me keep around 1200 .

ilovebagpuss · 07/03/2021 12:12

Hello I have been on and off this board in the past and was derailed by having Covid and losing my mental strength to diet the last time.
I am starting again on Monday as I know it works and is sustainable as a weight loss tool and for a healthier relationship with food.
I have about 3 stone to lose but will be happy with slowly chipping it away.
Anyway hope it’s ok for a yo yo er to drop back on Grin

ListeningQuietly · 07/03/2021 12:46

Hi Bagpuss welcome back.
I dip in and out too.
I'm back regularly because BigChoc handed me the baton Smile

ilovebagpuss · 07/03/2021 12:48

Thanks @ListeningQuietly thank you for taking the baton! It’s a lovely chat and very helpful.

20FlowerPower · 07/03/2021 17:34

Hi bagpuss I recognise your name from my own previous times on these threads (although I've since name changed). Good luck for starting back, and I'm sorry to hear you've been poorly with Covid.

I'm on a definite NFD day. Have even made scones Blush

Forgot to say in the week @ListeningQuietly that it was nice of you to share the update from BCF - I can only imagine how not being able to get to her weight classes and favourite cafes etc has been affecting her. I remember when she hurt her ankle (?) and was off exercise for a while and how challenging that was.

ginsparkles · 08/03/2021 06:18

Morning all, just been catching up after what can only be described as an awful week.

Dd back to school today so some form of normality is resuming. Not working until Thursday and Friday so am tracking calories and determined to keep below tdee each day.

Good luck Monday fasters !

Benjispruce2 · 08/03/2021 06:44

Morning all. After a good weekend with wine on 2 days only and under TDEE, I’m up 3lb! Not happy. Will need all my willpower today with all the children back in class.Hopefully too busy to think!

ginsparkles · 08/03/2021 08:09

I'm always up for a few days after vino, water retention I reckon. Don't worry, it'll disappear as quickly as it comes. There's generally a good 4lb between my heaviest weight of the week and my lightest.

I'm am stuck like you, waiting for a woosh to happen. I'll add in a third day once I'm back at work. Admittedly I am not being good on my non fast days right now. We can do this.

ListeningQuietly · 08/03/2021 09:07

Happy morning to all those with kids back in school

it will make the kids happier
and the parents happier
