Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

I’ve avoided milk completely on fast I know amounts are small but it’s carb/sugar going in

WendyImHome · 30/05/2020 07:31

Yes that was my feeling too - thanks myfirstborn

Pandapotato · 30/05/2020 08:58

Morning! After about 10 days of plateau, my scales shifted down 2 lbs today. Slow & steady wins the race I hope!

@WinterAndRoughWeather I think that anything that isn’t black coffe or water breaks the fast. Even no calorie stuff, especially if flavoured / sweet can get your insulin going.

@Sissy31 how was your 20:4? I’m among to work up to one or two a week.

@CanWeGoOutsideYet no idea about calorie counting. I find anything with counting calories / points really hard. The beauty of intermittent fasting for me is that you don’t need to count.

Lovely to see more New faces!

I think I’ve a long day ahead as the baby had me up loads in the night. I often eat crap when I’m tired, so keeping to my fast might be a challenge. I’m already thinking of what I can have at lunch time!
Have a good day everyone.

Sissy31 · 30/05/2020 09:39

@WendyImHome Personally ive avoided tea with milk and just drink water (because i have sugar in my tea too!) But ive read conflicting informatoon about it too. Ive read that you should have nothing but water and ive also read that as long as drinks are under 50 calories it doesnt break the fast Confused Not sure which is true, but ive been doing just water.

Pandapotato 20:4 is hard,i couldnt do it everyday, the last hour or 2 is a killer. I actually broke it half an hour early, so i only did 19.5 hours really. Id like to try and do it every so often, but for me it isnt doable everyday.

Its my birthday tomorrow so ive deceided to have the day off fasting. Ill fast early tonight till brunch tomorrow then give myself the day off as i am meeting my cousin for a BBQ in her garden (socially distanced) and drinks Smile

Then on Monday i will be back to normal fasting again Grin

Place marking

justanotherneighinparadise · 30/05/2020 09:41

I’m doing 20:4 at the moment and it’s not too bad. As long as I can eat once in the day I’m happy. Last year I was doing 36 hour fasts every other day and it was depressing 😬

WendyImHome · 30/05/2020 09:53

@Sissy31 Thanks - I guess with the conflicting information the best thing to do stick to water/black coffee as the safest option! would be gutting to ruin the fast and not realise.

Hope you have a WONDERFUL birthday tomorrow. Excellent weather for it!

Sissy31 · 30/05/2020 10:00

@justanotherneighinparadise Wow 36 hour fast! That sounds difficult!
Are you doing 20:4 everyday at the moment? Have you seen any additional benefits from 16:8

WendyImHome Thankyou Grin

upandsideways · 30/05/2020 10:25

Does anyone know if it's worth doing 14:10? I would really like to do 16:8 but it think it will be too hard with my lifestyle.

Sissy31 · 30/05/2020 11:25

@upandsideways Ive never personally done a 14:10 so cant say for sure but my fasting app says that 13 hours emulates the bodys natural clock by fasting from sunset to morning. So 14 hours would be just over that.

Id say go for it. Any change is better than no change Smile

Try it out and see how you feel, then maybe in the future you can extend it if you wish too.

upandsideways · 30/05/2020 17:03

Ok thank you 😊 I will give it a try. Maybe if I get used to it I will be able to extend it somehow

Hoolajerry · 30/05/2020 17:57

Hi everyone. I thought I'd been doing pretty well even though Thursdays are my day off and I had a chinese and 3 large gin and tonics. I only had a small portion of chinese and had fasted for 20 hours and done 2 long walks and a workout on that day. Then yesterday I had porridge, a cheese, chicken and salad sandwich, a packet of baked walkers and some. Leftover Chinese vegetables and a small amount of meat. Stopped eating at two.
Got up this morning and stupidly weighed myself and somehow I'm 2lbs heavier than I was on Wednesday and pretty much the weight I started at.
It's really got me down. I am definitely eating a lot less and I am very physically active. I've been doing this four weeks now. Normally I would have lost weight by now but I just don't seem to be shifting it. I only want to lose bloody half a stone. I feel constantly bloated amd heavy in my abdomen. I'm due an op soon (gynae) so Ive associated it with that but I'm starting to worry there's more to it. I suffer terribly from indigestion too.
Today I had a small bowl of porridge for breakfast. Then Turkey bolognaise and salad for lunch followed by an ice lolly. I've had some blueberries as a snack. Hopefully will feel a bit better tomorrow

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/05/2020 18:42

Hi can I join?

I've put on half a stone over lockdown and my clothes are starting to feel tight 😐 I started this diet Ystd with the aim of only eating between 10-6. I did okay but did have a yogurt with my dd at 7ish.

Today I'm determined not to eat anything else after 6, I might have to tweak the times once I'm back at work as will be rushed to try and eat before 6. It's tricky with teen dd as well as she likes to eat later 😕

Coconut80 · 30/05/2020 22:40

Hello ladies can I ask how long it took you ro loose weight on 18:6. I'm on day 8 scales haven't moved and I've come to bed so I don't eat. I am starving and hacked off normally I'd have some toast or some chocolate but I can't. It's very hard trying to remind myself why I am doi g it xc

Sissy31 · 30/05/2020 23:37

Coconut80 After 5 days id lost 3 lbs but since then ive not lost anymore and i am 12 days in now. Not sure if its down to me being on my period at the moment though.
i guess everyones differant and depends on how much you have to lose, your exercise and what you eat during eating hours maybe?
Are you just drinking water during your fasting hours?

ChangeThePassword · 31/05/2020 07:51

Why are you starving Coconut80? What are you eating in a typical day? When is your eating window? I'm only hungry for a bit before my eating window starts. You maybe need to look at eating more, even if it means changing what you are eating to include more fruit and veg.

My scales were a bit all over the place for the first two weeks (but then I do get heavier before a period), since then (and since drinking more water) I've been dropping steadily.

AnCailleach · 31/05/2020 09:06

Morning all, how are ye doing?

I'm on day 10. My body is definitely adapting, my appetite is lessening and I'm not feeling hungry in the fasting window. I did have a weird day when I was due on where I ate constantly in my window but I still managed to stop so didn't beat myself up too much.

I weighed myself on Day 7 and had lost 1lb. I'm trying not to get too caught up on weight and just get used to it all. I'm focusing on the other positives, my energy levels feel more balanced, my skin is clearer and I'm making an effort to cook some really lovely meals.

Happy Birthday @sissy31 🎉 hope you had a lovely day!

Coconut80 · 31/05/2020 12:31

When I saw starving I mean it is all in my head. I am eating 3 full meals in 10-6 on day 9 today I think. I'm so used to years of having supper and grazing in the evening that it is a hard habit for me to break. 3lbs is a fab loss. I am drinking diet coke outwith fast which I know won't help my sugar cravings will try to switch to fizzy water.
Scorchio here how is everyone's Sunday going so far xx

WinterAndRoughWeather · 31/05/2020 13:34

Hi everyone, it’s quite cloudy here - think you guys have all the sun. Still, good weather to do some gardening as it’s usually too hot.

On Friday I spent all day doing outdoor DIY tasks and accidentally caught the sun too much, while wearing a strapless top. So now I have a lovely tan that stops abruptly at the top of my boobs, while the rest of me is pasty white. It looks ridiculous.

Anyway, the tape measure seems to show about half an inch off my chest and waist this week. Not much change on the hips though.

We ate late last night so I’m trying to push through to 2 or 3pm today. only had a black coffee so far.

Thanks for the advice about multivitamins potato, I’ll stick to taking them during the eating hours. I wonder about painkillers, antihistamines, sleeping pills and so on - I quite often take one or more of them before going to bed, as there always seems to be something these days (ageing!). Do they break a fast?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/05/2020 14:04

Hoola, on the weighing front, I did Team RH last year (gave up because you have to weigh everything and eat shedloads of protein), and they were very keen on daily weighing and taking a weekly average. Because weight can fluctuate for so many reasons (water intake, hormone levels, a salty meal etc etc), it’s less dispiriting to weigh daily and see all the changes rather than weigh weekly and maybe all you see is the upward fluctuation. For all you know, yesterday you might have been down instead of up.

Myfirstbornisacollie · 31/05/2020 14:46

@Tooextraimmaturecheddar I’ve just switched from team RH too was great when my head was in the zone but the weighing food and targets every day I found such hard work so I finished the years subscription only a few pounds lighter than I started as I was on and off it over the months 🙈

@Coconut80 I’m pretty new to this but my plan is to miss at least breakfast while fasting and have either 2 meals or 1 meal and snacks in my eating window. I’m not sure you are going to see any significant weight loss in the short term if your food intake stays the same although fasting has other health benefits

CaveMum · 31/05/2020 19:25

Hello all, room for a little one?

Another one trying to shift the lockdown lbs, plus the stubborn baby weight .

I’ve been toying with the idea of IF for a while and figured now is as good a time as any to give it a go. I started a few days ago with the aim of easing myself in at 12:12 then shaving off an hour at a time to get down to 16:8 over the next week or so, however I’ve naturally fallen into a rhythm of about 15:9 already so hopefully I can keep that up.

I also restarted Couch to 5k 3 weeks ago (having last done it pre-DC) so that should help too.

Any tips gratefully received!

vanillandhoney · 31/05/2020 20:52

Hi - relative newbie here!

I've been going four days and I can already notice a difference. I eat 9-5 as I need to stop snacking constantly in the evenings Blush

I'm less bloated around my stomach and I'm already adjusting to the hunger - no longer feel starving when I wake up which is good! Been drinking iced green tea to get rid of any hunger pangs too.

justanotherneighinparadise · 31/05/2020 21:31

I’m now 26 hours in and going to eat tomorrow morning around 7.30am. It hasn’t been too tricky it’s just around mealtimes that things get a bit fraught 🤭

Hoping for a loss tomorrow. Doesn’t always happen but let’s see 🤞

Cooltalkin · 31/05/2020 21:52
