Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

@MoiraRosesWig Its great that you arent finding it as difficult as you expected! I find it easy now i'm used to it but there are hungrier days - which is totally normal btw!

Ive seen some groups which are very extreme too! But just do what makes you feel good Smile

1 week in and 1lb down! Hoping it continues. Slow and steady wins the race I guess :)

KnobJockey · 03/02/2021 08:10

Hi! I'm trying to combine this with 5:2, finding they generally work well together, though the scales are being very slow in moving!
I generally do 1-9 or even sometimes 2-10 fasting, but I think that needs to stop. We don't tend to eat til half 6, 7ish (just logistics) and then we tend to have something sweet in bed about half 9. I think that probably needs to stop, and if I want something sweet then do it straight after dinner as a pudding- hopefully should be rather full by then so won't eat as much.

I do drink a fair whack of tea with milk while fasting though, does that actually ruin the health benefits? I'm trying at least to match tea with water with lemon/ lime at the minute, to up my intake.

Started at about 13.10, now I'm atv13.2, slowly moving down

Can you change the times you fast from/to or do you have to stick to the same every day?

Sissy31 · 04/02/2021 09:01

Hi @KnobJockey Technically the milk (and sugar if you have it) will break your fast as the body recognises it as a food substance. However, i know people sometimes ease themselves into fasting with 1 or 2 cups if tea with a little milk for the first few weeks before stopping completely. Personally i just have water until i break my fast, then i break it with a cup of tea with 1 sugar Smile

@Fembot123 Yes you can, as long as you have a minimum of 16 hours between meals. For example if you usually eat between 12-8,pm you can deciede to start your fast at 6pm instead, then you can eat again at 10am the next day - if that makes sense? Hmm

Gosh, I haven't posted in ages. Fasting went out the window over Christmas and the continued as times for really stressful ..I did however stop drinking alcohol for 7 weeks...was hoping two months but gave in last weekend!
Anyway, back on my 11:30-19:30 eating window since the weekend and already feeling the benefits!
Nice to see the thread is still going!

@MoiraRosesWig love the name! I'm with you in the strickness with some people.. I am in this for the health benefits and just to generally feel better without the need to follow any diets. I find I just eat better when fasting and cutting out the evening snacks makes a huge difference to me! I have learned to enjoy black coffee in the morning and have a nice full fat milky latte late afternoon Brew

Hope everyone is having a good week

Sissy31 · 23/02/2021 07:20

@BrienneIsMyHero Its great that you're getting back on it. I had a break over Christmas too, from Christmas Eve to New Years Day pretty much! Blush But i had a great christmas!

How is everyone else doing?

lazylinguist · 24/02/2021 11:47

Hello all, ok if I join? I've tried 16/8 before, but didn't stick to it. My new approach is to fast between 8pm and midday the next day - so lunch and dinner only. I'm also not eating snacks.

For me, what makes me give up on diets is having to think all the time about what I eat, and feeling I'm depriving myself of foods I like. So I'm giving myself permission to eat whatever and however much I want at lunch and dinner, but nothing outside those times at all. I figure that even with eating what I like, I'll still consume fewer calories than if I were having breakfast and snacks.

BrienneIsMyHero · 24/02/2021 22:09

@lazylinguist most definitely, welcome! I can't give up my snacks Blush but trying to make better choices like hummus and veggies, fruit, nuts, yoghurt etc.

I have upped my exercise this week, lots of walks and YouTube workouts at home. I don't weigh myself and just want to feel better overall. Hoping to tone up a bit!

lazylinguist · 25/02/2021 14:57

I'm honestly finding that if I eat until I'm full at lunch, I don't feel the need for snacks, especially if I remember to drink plenty. It seems counter-intuitive weight-loss-wise to just allow myself to eat lots and whatever I like, but it feels very liberating actually, and I think it's helping me to break out of the diet/rebel pattern.

Exercise-wise I do quite a lot of brisk walking (big, energetic dog!), run 5k (very slowly) twice a week and do a bit of yoga most days (often just a 10-15 min post-run/walk session, but a longer one once or twice a week).

lazylinguist · 25/02/2021 15:01

Meant to say- I don't weigh myself either. I don't need to know what I weigh to know if I'm getting slimmer or not. And tbh the whole weighing, measuring and monitoring thing is part of what I'm trying to avoid by just having a couple of simple rules to which I don't have to give much headspace!
