Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Wow I think I'd find it even harder to miss my evening meal. I've just woken up on my first morning of fasting. It's hard to not automatically go get my breakfast, it feels wrong.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/05/2020 07:47

Day 3! Last night my mouth kept watering weirdly between 7 and 8, despite the fact that I wasn't actually hungry. I think it was my body going 'eat something! Your eating window is about to close!' I ignored it because I had just had dinner and I really wasn't actually hungry.

Black coffee for breakfast - never really tried black coffee before but I actually quite like it. It's a lot better than black tea.

Food yesterday:
Mozzarella and tomato salad with 2 slices toast, slice of sultana loaf
3 cups milky tea
Spaghetti bolognese with grated cheese on top
Very small Twix (I swear the fun-sized ones are half the size they used to be!) and 2 gingersnaps with a glass of milk

fabricstash · 27/05/2020 12:59

I am on day 8 but determined to not weigh myself until 2 weeks. I have given caffeine the boot and am really enjoying earl grey roobois tea with no milk. I do keep forgetting to end my fast on the Zero app so it looks like I have done better than I haveGrin. Overall am finding it easy to wrap around family life and work

fabricstash · 27/05/2020 13:01

Sissy31 I agree about the teeth brushing - it's almost like I have fooled myself I have eaten

Sissy31 · 27/05/2020 13:11

@fabricstash Its strange isnt it? Makes no sense but if it works ill take it haha!

I'm having sugar cravings today, very much want to curl up in a ball on the sofa and eat sweets! Ive taken myself out for a walk to the park to sit in the sun instead !

Hoolajerry · 27/05/2020 17:07

Well done for getting off to such a positive start everyone.
I've had a day of all the carbs and to be honest I feel horrible because of it.
Muesli and coffee for breakfast. Fruit amd Brazil nuts for a snack. For lunch I had a cheese, spinach and prosciutto sandwich on thick malted bread with a packet of ready salted crisps. For pudding I made a strawberry bun cake. It was delicious but I am very bloated now and actually looking forward to my fast.
I was supposed to be going on a big bike ride with a friend but work have said we can't as we are on opposite teams and are on a rota system so we can't mix. Bit gutted about that but have done a HIIT workout to compensate.

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 27/05/2020 20:00

Lost 2lb in the last week! Since having DS my weight has been so sluggish in coming off, so 2lb in a week is amazing for me.

Fasted for 18.5 hours til 12.30. Had a spinach, cheese and bacon omelette for lunch and a small handful of haribo. A protein shake mid afternoon, and a Hello Fresh chicken and rice dish for dinner. I’ll have a small chocolate bar soon before my window closes.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 28/05/2020 01:36

I’ve had a lot of gluteny carbs over the past few days (such delicious bread!) and do feel bloated and shit.

Protein and veg for the rest of the week I think.

Needingsupportplease · 28/05/2020 07:51

Day 3 for me finding the fasts quite easy I'm doing 11-7, am trying to limit carbs too and not snack at all and cut down drinking. Did have a dominos yesterday though for husbands birthday. Going to try get alot of steps in today with dog and baby.

Brunch- scrambled eggs with salmon
Dinner- jacket potato with tuna
Banana for snack if hungry
And going to try atleast 3 litres of water sick of my clothes been tight.

wejammin · 28/05/2020 08:09

I posted on an older thread so will paste -
Hi!
I've decided I need to do something about this lockdown weight so I'm trying intermittent fasting, as traditional diets are awful for me and make me crave all the food all the time.
I've got a really full on work week plus 3 young kids so I'm starting small with 14/10 to try and get rid of the evening binge without getting headaches, then will work up to 15/9, then 16/8. I like to do things incrementally, I'm very easily flawed by overwhelming changes.
So this week my window will be 9:00am to 7:00pm.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 28/05/2020 08:28

Congrats on the weight loss, @MoonBabysMagicalKalimba

I've also been too carby in the last couple of days. What does seem to be a good sign, though, is that I've been feeling ridiculously bloated and a bit ill after meals that I would normally have eaten with no thought, so I guess that suggests my body is adjusting? Just need to actually listen to it and stop overstuffing myself!

Sissy31 · 28/05/2020 10:41

Trying to do another 20:4 day but struggling already - just over 4 hours left to go Sad

Going to try to distract myself with a walk in the sunshine

Pandapotato · 28/05/2020 11:13

Another one here who craved all the carbs yesterday! I stuck to my fast, but couldn’t stretch it to more than 16 hours and snaked quite a bit in the afternoon. I think I’m due on, but things are a bit all over the place with bf’ing.
Today feels better. Just over 17 hours now and feel fine. I’m usually one who wants to eat and eat when it’s hot, so we’ll see how the rest of the day goes.

@wejammin I worked up to it gradually and found it easier than I expected. It’s hard with kids around. Good luck!

Have a good day everyone.

FieldOverFence · 28/05/2020 12:28

Wow I don't think I could manage 20:4, are you getting results with it @Sissy31 ?

WinterAndRoughWeather · 28/05/2020 12:42

Does anyone know if a Berocca-type soluble multivitamin is okay to take during the fast (well, the Lidl own brand version)? There’s no calories listed on the label but I don’t know if taking vitamins breaks the fast.

I take it with an iron supplement so I’d prefer to have it in the morning, since I usually break my fast at lunchtime with muesli and yoghurt, and calcium inhibits iron uptake.

Sissy31 · 28/05/2020 12:55

@FieldOverFence This is only my second time doing 20:4 (usually just do 16:8) so i cant say yet. I want to try to do one every so often if i can to see if it helps. I read fhat after 16 hours of fasting is when you hit "fat burn zone" so if i can do over 16 hours i will try Smile

I use the zero app and its got lots of info on how your body works during a fast

PrincessHoneysuckle · 28/05/2020 12:55

Can I join pls? I'm doing 1200 calories plus 16/8 lost 4lbs in 2 weeks so far

CanWeGoOutsideYet · 28/05/2020 13:43

Can somebody @ me who knows anything about calorie counting please? I've never dieted, this is all new to me.

I've been doing this method for 1 week and a half and while I found it difficult to start with I'm settling into it nicely now.

I would like to reduce calories slightly to maximise weight loss, I find it difficult because I've been cooking from fresh.

How do you work out the calories? Maths was never my forte as you can tell Blush

Sissy31 · 28/05/2020 14:05

I use my fitness pal app to count my calories Smile

CanWeGoOutsideYet · 28/05/2020 20:54

Thanks sissy I'll go and check out the app now Smile

Sissy31 · 28/05/2020 21:26

CanWeGoOutsideYet No problem!
You can search or scan barcodes of ingrediants on there..
You can also save meals so you dont have to re input all the ingrediants every time, if it is a meal you make regularly Smile

LisaSimpsonsbff · 29/05/2020 08:29

Argh, fell very off the wagon yesterday (we had a takeaway and I was still picking at it at 10pm, after spending all day eating more or less Blush) and I feel really gross this morning. Put on an old dress and it really highlights how much weight I've gained on my tummy. Really cross at myself!

CanWeGoOutsideYet · 29/05/2020 12:16

I've got the app now, brilliant suggestion Smile

Lisa I know how you feel. I caved last night and ate half a tube of Pringles! Not impressed with myself at all.

Still.. that was 10pm and I've fasted since. I won't eat anything until at least 2pm.

WendyImHome · 30/05/2020 07:22

Hi - I’d love to join you all! I’ve been doing this for only a couple of day now, using 10-6pm window. Can I ask about milk? Sorry this has probably been covered before, but I’ve read such conflicting advice about milk in tea/coffee during the fast time. So far I’ve avoiding as that’s my gut feeling, but it would be great to know any results around if that does make a difference? Thanks all!

Myfirstbornisacollie · 30/05/2020 07:28

Hello 👋
Just found this thread. I started IF this week after reading Delay Don’t Deny and have been doing 18:6
I’ve found it pretty manageable on work days I think weekends home with kids are going to be more challenging
2 pounds down so far, another 20 or so to go
I’ve been pretty strict just having water, black tea and coffee on fast as otherwise I’d be necking Coke Zero all day and it makes sense that sweetners are going to impact metabolism. Really recommend the book I mentioned it’s short but gave me good motivation
