Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

I'm trying to mix it up - usually I eat lunch and dinner but this week I'm trialling with breakfast and lunch, and closing the kitchen around 1pm. I seem to lose more this way but I don't think I can do it all the time.

DownUdderer · 27/10/2020 22:07

Yes, when I've had really early dinner and then fasted I think I've lost weight easier. I guess eating at 4:30 was my earliest! I couldn't do it all the time but I think it can help shift a stubborn pound.

BrienneIsMyHero · 27/10/2020 23:46

Welcome to the newbies here Smile

@NorthGirl2 I would struggle not eating after 1!! Making everyone's dinner and not eating would be torture for me.

I'm 3 weeks in. No idea on weighloss as I don't weigh myself but clothes definitely fitting better and I feel great. I have adult acne on my face and am finding my skin is so much smoother! Yay

I have allowed myself a 12-8 eating window at weekend so that I could enjoy an evening glass of wine. I have also had some 17/7 days too..not been that hard actually as I have cut out my snack just before I start my fast window as I'm not actually hungry and was only eating out of habit. 'Get it in before I start my to fast' mentality is slowly disappearing. We have dinner pretty early in my house , usually around 5pm.

DownUdderer · 29/10/2020 01:26

I find drinking water instead of a snack really helps me decide if I'm hungry or just picking out of habit!

DownUdderer · 31/10/2020 00:08

If I don't fancy eating dinner I just have something to drink and have an early start to my fast. I'm nearing goal weight.

DownUdderer · 01/11/2020 01:50

I managed to wear my goal skirt yesterday! I was so shocked that it fit! What a lovely surprise though.

Gordonbennit · 01/11/2020 09:38

Well done Downudderer Grin You should be really proud!! Bet it felt lovey to finally wear that skirt. Gives hope to us all.

BrienneIsMyHero · 01/11/2020 21:24

Well done @DownUdderer !
I attempted a low carb day on Saturday and it's really not for me lol. Just wanted to give it a go as I eat a lot of carbs.

Going forward I will open my window with a low carb snack. Today it was a babybel and then we had curry with rice and naan bread. All homemade but definitely not low carb lol - I will try to chose lower carb snacks and have stocked up on cheese, yoghurt, cottage cheese and nuts .

Anyone following a more low carb style 16/8?

DownUdderer · 02/11/2020 02:40

Yes, I eat all low carb. Carbs just make me feel hungry after about half an hour, and craving more carbs. I prefer to feel full and satisfied after a meal or snack.

How’s everyone doing this week?

The fastic app has been really helpful is being a bit more engaged with trying to do this!
I surprised myself by pretty much managing to 16/8 over half term. Always find it harder when I’m at home.
That said, I felt pretty low and tired at the weekend so inevitable went to comfort self with cheese and tomato sandwich and lots of other snacks. Still, just one night out of a whole week...
As for losing weight..I think I’ve only managed a kilo - it’s hard to tell as I think I’m expecting my period in next week or so , so hoping I’m heavier due to that!
Guess I’ll know if this is working if I can keep it up for 3 weeks. Still feel like I’m eating load s in non fasting bit.

Well done Downudderer and Sunny

IF works for me without low carbing ,- cannot be doing with counting anything -carbs, calories or any sort of "points" like WW - makes me over focus unhelpfully on food. I do much better just avoiding refined sugar and bread as far as practical. Everyone is different obviously.

I'm doing a lot of walking when I can, which I'm finding helpful.

golddustwomen · 05/11/2020 11:07

Hi everyone,

Hope you're well? Hoping I could join please? Started 16:8 yesterday, eating window 10am - 6pm, planning on clean(ish!) eating during that.

I've been slowing putting on weight since having my second child 3 years ago. Monday my daughter took a photo of me and it was the smack in the face I needed! Knocked me for six.. spent Monday and Tuesday crying then Wednesday my big girl pants went on and I am excited to make some changes.

Just had a bowl of bran flakes and an apple. Kids have requested 'breakfast for dinner' so will have that around 5pm, minus the toast(maybe!)

BreathlessCommotion · 05/11/2020 21:53

Hi all,

I started 16:8 on Sunday 1st. Doing well so far, I do have a bit of milk in my tea in the morning, my eating window is 11 - 7. I find the mornings quite easy. The last couple of evenings have been hard though. Tonight I found I was hungry almost exactly as my eating window closed!

I'm sure I'll get used to it. I do find it easier that it is simply no eating in the evening, rather than picking trying to think of "healthy" or otherwise snacks.

BreathlessCommotion · 05/11/2020 21:54

Oh and I love breakfast so I have it at 11 instead of lunch! I have grape nuts, which is a sugar free, high protein cereal.

DownUdderer · 06/11/2020 05:02

Drink plenty of water, reach for water if you feel hungry and fill up with that. Sometimes you're not really hungry but you can be caught out by bad habits. I honestly rarely feel hungry now, I've been fasting for ten weeks. I think I'll be doing it for the next year to see if it helps maintain my weight.

golddustwomen · 08/11/2020 09:57

Its harder to stick too over the weekend when oh is home! I thought I was a snacker!

poshme · 08/11/2020 10:17

Can I join?

I have a stone to lose and no will power. I tend to snack in the evenings, too often with wine.

Hoping that 16:8 will help me to cut that out.

I'm going to aim for 11-7, and have got Fastic- thanks to whoever recommended that.

Now just need to explain to DH who is almost obsessive about eating breakfast promptly in the morning.

golddustwomen · 08/11/2020 17:17

@poshme my oh is the same! Second his eyes open it's bacon sandwich time.

I'm off the alcohol too. Been 7 days now, currently day 2 into my dds quarantine and this sounds bad but Jesus I would love a drink already!

SkeletonSkins · 10/11/2020 08:20

Hi all, hope I’m okay to join. I lost a stone doing this in the summer and it was the first thing that worked for me in ages but I still had a stone to lose and just fell off the bandwagon. Can feel myself gaining weight again so need to get it in hand. Must admit that it’s harder in lockdown with less going on but will keep myself busy. I know from before that after a few days my appetite decreases so just need to power though.

golddustwomen · 10/11/2020 11:53

@SkeletonSkins wow a stone, good going!! Can I ask did you eat whatever you wanted during your eating window or stick to low carbs or anything etc?

SkeletonSkins · 10/11/2020 12:52

I ate what I want, tried to avoid snacking though. I also tried to walk an hour every day.

poshme · 15/11/2020 09:46

So weekdays I find reasonably easy.

Sadly weekends aren't going well. Wine is my downfall. Sad

Lost 1lb which I'm pleased about. Now just to keep it off!

golddustwomen · 15/11/2020 10:40

Me too.. Friday night broke my fast and had 2 beers with a whole bag of sweet popcorn. Although there is 3 Cadbury doughnuts in my cupboard and I haven't touched them, usually I would have thought fuck it I've broke the fast let's feast but it didn't even cross my mind. So I'm seeing that as a victory!
