Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Glad you’re loving the scales @Sissy31! I know what you mean about wanting to know body fat %, that and visceral fat is something that fascinates me. I remember watching a programme which talked about people being “skinny on the outside but fat inside” due to high visceral fat levels and how dangerous that type of fat is.

Sorry about the stalled weight loss, mine definitely goes in fits and starts and I’m currently in a stalled phase with very little loss over the last 2 weeks.

WouldBeGood · 04/08/2020 20:58

That’s been nearly a week now and I’m definitely starting to feel a bit better. Also trying to eat better in the window.

Sissy31 · 05/08/2020 07:04

I'm hoping if i change my diet more, it will help. I just worry that if i restrict myself too much ill break it and binge.
Thankfully, i feel alot better in myself so ill 100% not be quitting Smile

Does anyone else use My Fitness Pal and be willing to exchange usernames so we can support each other and/or get meal ideas?
My username is channyangel97, feel free to add me if you wish

MsMiaWallace · 05/08/2020 09:13

Still no weight loss for me here :(
I'm clean eating. I'm doing 9-5. Drinking lots of water & walking lots but nothing

CleanQueen123 · 06/08/2020 12:46

Has anyone else found they've dropped down to one meal a day and their fasting window has gotten longer?

I'm just not hungry. I've found I'm happy with one small protein based snack around lunchtime and then my main meal around 4PM. Then nothing but water until the next day.

That's a huge change from constantly feeling the need to stuff my face a few weeks ago!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 06/08/2020 14:54

Yes we only eat one proper meal a day now, and our appetites are much lower (which we forget sometimes and overeat).

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 06/08/2020 15:01

My appetite has definitely reduced, really significantly. I get full so easily now, and stay full for longer.

Sissy31 · 06/08/2020 15:07

My appetite has also reduced significantly.
I still tend to overeat at times and feel sickly afterwards but i am getting much better at it.

I was away for the weekend with friends a few weeks back and had a cup of tea and toast at breakfast time and had lunch and dinner i felt so tired and sluggish allday and went to bed at 9pm! It took me a few days to recover after that but i just felt awful!
Im away this weekend and will 100% be sticking to my fasting window

CleanQueen123 · 06/08/2020 16:21

I'm such a gutty mare usually. If you'd told me a month ago I'd be eating one meal a day and not chewing off my own feet due to hunger I'd have laughed in your face.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 06/08/2020 16:25

Same! This is why we keep accidentally overeating at weekends. We’ll cook up our Saturday night feast - maybe a Chinese meal or pizza - and have some peanuts or olives with drinks first. Then find we’re pretty much full from the snacks, but eat the meal anyway. A few months ago we’d have guzzled the lot without it touching the sides and we haven’t quite got used to the change. Also our portion sizes are way smaller.

CleanQueen123 · 06/08/2020 18:04

I'm finding my portions are still probably on the large side but given that my meals are mostly veg I'm not finding myself feeling overly full.

If I do have carbs then it's a far smaller portion than I used to have.

I've found the benefits are so good that I'm not really struggling to turn down "treat food" when it's offered because I know how much worse I'll feel for it.

WouldBeGood · 06/08/2020 18:09

I’ve just started really, and am not trying too hard: just getting into the habit of eating in the right hours. I’ve actually found that pretty easy. It has focussed my mind on not eating rubbish, and as i start to feel better I’m planning to focus a lot more on calories within the window. I do tend to eat when I’m bored/fed up/anxious and I think this could help me reset that urge.

CleanQueen123 · 06/08/2020 21:44

@WouldBeGood that's what I've found. Instead of eating anything, anytime I'm making sure I'm eating the right things within the window to keep me going until the next window.

And I'm drinking so much water. Maybe too much actually because my legs are achy and I'm sure I remember reading that that's a symptom of over hydration.

Pollyputthepizzaon · 07/08/2020 06:33

Week 1 - 2lb down
Week 2 - 2lb down

I eat 12pm-8pm but usually actually don’t eat after 6:30pm as after dinner I’m full.

Themadcatparade · 07/08/2020 09:04

Hello can I join you all please?

I’m on my third full day of fasting due to needing to loose weight and get in to a better routine with food.

A bit about my situation - I’m vegan for two years. I liked about three stone on before this due to medication, I lost two of that stone to a healthy weight over the year when I went vegan. I’m very happy with my diet, I take supplements and so far all healthy blood tests. However- it seems my body has gotten used to the change now and During lockdown I’ve gone from being 10st to just over 11! Confused

I’m fairly active, I hike and mountaineer a lot, but I’ve recently hurt my knees the past few weeks so I can’t do anything too intensive to lose weight.

I’ve found that I’m not too hungry now I’m fasting (with the exception of first 2 hours of my eating window!), I usually have very large portions at meal times and no snacks between but I only ate about a quarter of my plate last night I just wasn’t hungry at all! However I am having some issues...

  1. I’m trying to eat slowly in my eating hour but I’m getting stomach pains whilst I eat. It’s like I’m struggling to digest any intake.
  1. The last hour of fasting has been a struggle for me regarding lightheaded ness and dizziness. I’m at work today and my eating hour isn’t until 12pm - but I seem to be having difficulties today with dizziness... to the point I’m considering breaking it with an emergency dextro tablet... it’s only 9am.

Does anyone else suffer with the digestion and dizziness issues? Does it get better in time?

Pollyputthepizzaon · 07/08/2020 21:44

Yes the first few days I felt sick in the morning until I could eat. I drank a lot of water and black tea and by day 4-5 I was fine.

Themadcatparade · 08/08/2020 16:30

Was so much better without the dizziness today and just completed my 4th fast!

nudelipstick · 09/08/2020 19:46

I've been doing this for a bit over a month, with calorie restrictions as well. I'm not sure this would work so well if I wasn't restricting, but I have lost 7lb so far. So I now weigh 145.5lbs - still an overweight BMI as I am only 5'3 so my target weight is 133lb as I would like to be 9.5 stone as a maximum. Not sure if that's achievable though so we will see.

I don't feel I have lost weight though which is strange, but the 7lbs must have gone from somewhere.

magnarocks · 10/08/2020 08:40

Restarted today, saw a photo of myself from the weekend and wasn't happy. ☹️

Onwards and upwards. Currently drinking 2nd mug of black coffee, planning to hold off eating until Atleast half 10.

Spotsandstars · 10/08/2020 16:56

I've been doing this for nearly 4 weeks with only 1.5lb loss. Only two meals a day, I don't eat refined sugar etc anyway and only drink water in my fasting window. No reduction in measurements either. Not sure why it's not working.

Sissy31 · 11/08/2020 12:31

Hi @Spotsandstars i havent had a huge amount of weightloss either and ive been doing it for a few months now, but am feeling more healthy and energetic in general.
Do you have much to lose? Ive heard that more stubborn fat takes longer, especially if you are not "overweight"
Youve only been at it 4 weeks and in general they say 3 weeks is the average amount of time it takes people to ajust (though i think it took longer for me)
Also you could look at what you are eating in your eating window or extend your fast longer each day?

Themadcatparade · 11/08/2020 18:07

@Spotsandstars

Maybe increase your fasting time? From what I have read it does make sense to eat less carbs too to aid it so maybe have a look at what foods you are actually eating.

I’m on day 7 now and managed 17 hours, I’m going to push it to 18 tomorrow 6pm-12pm and see if that works for me too. I’m finding I’m not too hungry so I know I could go comfortably longer. I think I have a half a kg loss as well, but I want to double check tomorrow morning to verify it. It’s not a lot but it’s a start!

I climbed a mountain on a 16hour fast and in the heat on Sunday and I was surprised at how much energy i had!

magnarocks · 11/08/2020 19:40

What does everyone eat on a typical 16/8 day?

Today I've had;

An apple
Leftover portion of homemade chilli with a small amount of brown rice, and some cheese
A few olives
A salmon fillet with some oven roasted new potatoes and zingy coleslaw
A bowl of strawberries and yogurt

It sounds quite a lot having written it done. 🤔

Sissy31 · 11/08/2020 20:48

@magnarocks
Today ive had:

Raw Carrots, cucumber and cherry tomatos. Mixed bowl of strawberries grapes, blueberries and raspberries

New potatos and veg (swetcorn, carrots, peas, green beans) and gravy for dinner - sounds like an odd dinner but i'm trying to have a couple of days without meat per week
An orange
Small amount of ice cream for dessert

2 cups of tea and sugar free squash throughout the day (in my eating window obv)

1275 calories in total - though i try not to focus on calories too much!
My eating window today was 12pm-6.30pm which is becoming my normal timeframe recently
