Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Until yes. It works like those machines you see in Boots, et al - you step on, it sends small electrical pulses through your body then sends the readings to the app on your phone.

So don’t get on it with wet feet 😂

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 30/07/2020 10:24

CaveMum thanks! Interesting... We don't have a scales at all at home atm (I have a teen daughter and don't want her obsessing over weight like I did as a teen - she's lean and sporty but doesn't know what she weighs) and I am just going to weigh myself once per month at work, but these scales do sound interesting... Hmm

CaveMum · 30/07/2020 10:26

Here’s a partial screenshot from the app. You click on each reading and it tells you whether it’s good/bad and where your reading should be for your height/age, etc.

How many times a week do you guys weigh?

CaveMum · 30/07/2020 10:28

Sorry, I used he wrong term - it’s not bone density, but bone mass. My mistake.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 30/07/2020 11:24

MsMiaWallace once per month. Weight fluctuates especially in women so once per week is meaningless, daily at the same time to give a weekly average (not to compare today with yesterday) or once a month gives meaningful information.

Sissy31 · 30/07/2020 11:38

@CaveMum ivr just ordered them! 26.99 Grin

CaveMum · 30/07/2020 11:41

😂 I’m a bad influence @Sissy31

Sissy31 · 30/07/2020 12:16

I used to weigh myself once per week but read somewhere its better to weigh yourself at the same time everyday then work out the average as weighr fluctuates so much, which i think i need to start doing

Pollyputthepizzaon · 30/07/2020 13:37

I use the app Happy Scale where you can input weight every day or week or whenever. It finds the average and flattens the curve to give a much more accurate weight loss representation.

It also predicts what weight you’ll be in a months time based on average loss. Or by a set date. I really like it. It was free but I paid to upgrade for a few more features.

Hi, I'd like some advice. I just started this diet, I'm only on day 4.
But now I have to take a short course of medication, 4 days. I have to take 1 tablet 3 times a day, with food.
Are there any innovative ways I can do this, or will I just have to abandon the diet for 4 days?
I really don't want to do that after just starting, but I do need to take this meds safely.
Has anyone found a way around this? Thanks

WinterAndRoughWeather · 30/07/2020 21:13

Honestly when I have to take meds I just don’t worry about it. It’s only four days. Eat something small and no gluten/carb for the ones you take outside the window and don’t use it as an excuse to go nuts. You should be able to get a 12 hour fast in if you’re taking the meds three times a day, which is good.

Freddofrogshop · 30/07/2020 21:34

Thanks, I guess just a piece of fruit can't be too bad. I think its to help the meds absorb and not make me feel nauseous.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 30/07/2020 21:46

Yes it will be, or some meds can irritate the stomach lining.

Fruit might spike your blood sugar though, especially if you have something very sweet like a banana. A hard boiled egg, hummus with carrots or a handful of nuts might be better.

Freddofrogshop · 30/07/2020 22:59

What about some porridge made with milk? Would that be ok?

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 31/07/2020 00:04

Freddofrogshop if you take the medication at 9:30am, 1:15pm and 5:15pm with whatever food you want and stop eating by 5:30pm you can still do 16:8. That makes more sense than eating porridge outside your window.

Freddofrogshop · 31/07/2020 06:16

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme Unfortunately that wont fit on with my work pattern. I work 930 till 6 and can only eat in my designated lunch break at 12 or 1.
I've been trying to eat either between 12- 8 or 1-9, depending on the work schedule

MsMiaWallace · 31/07/2020 07:33

Well now I've put 2lb on.
How does this happen??
I've been really good, stuck to everything, minimal carbs.
I'm so upset

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 31/07/2020 09:05

MsMiaWallace you've only been doing this a few days, it's really easier if you stay away from the scales, otherwise you set yourself up for an emotional rollercoaster which isn't remotely helpful. Are you drinking enough? Is it hot where you are? It's probably water retention or normal monthly fluctuations. Stick with it for a month and stop weighing, drink 3 liters of plain water or more per day and clean fast (black coffee, green tea, plain water outside your window) and you'll feel your waistbands getting looser within two weeks.

WouldBeGood · 31/07/2020 10:56

Hello, please my I join? I really need to get on top of my weight and am trying this method.

My usual routine has been ruined by lockdown and no gym so need to concentrate on eating less and this seems a good way to do that.

Pollyputthepizzaon · 31/07/2020 17:27

Welcome @WouldBeGood I recommend the free app Zero to log your fasts.

I’ve just done week 1 and lost 2lb which I’m pleased about as it hasn’t felt hard at all. Maybe this is the one diet I’ll stick to! I’m not hungry and after 3-4 days adjusted easily to no breakfast without even being hungry.

WouldBeGood · 31/07/2020 19:41

Thank you, I’ve downloaded that. I’m really trying to limit the time I can eat as a start. Probably won’t be so good on the wine..

nudelipstick · 01/08/2020 17:02

I've been doing this for a few weeks now, and I've been sticking to the hours very well. I've lost 4 lbs but I don't feel like it yet- my tummy still feels horrible and blobby.

My problem is I think I am eating too few calories - probably 800-1000 a day at most. And if I eat what I deem too many at lunch I start my fast immediately - today I had an avocado sandwich on white bread as I was so hungry, which is probably around 450-500 calories, after having breakfast (scrambled egg and tomatoes and fruit). I panic that if I eat any more the pounds will come back and if I eat too much I open the floodgates to eat more - once I start I can't stop and I think 'fuck it, I've given in for x so I may as well abandon it and do what I want now'.

My question is- if I am losing on 800 calories a day, will I gain if I start eating 1200 or so a day as my body now used to 800 or so calories?

CleanQueen123 · 02/08/2020 07:39

Hi all Smile I'm on day 7 of 16:8 and I feel so much better for it. It's actually amazing.

Before starting I was really struggling with being hungry all the time and reaching for snack food to eat whilst working from home, washed down with endless cups of tea.

I think I've had about 2 cups of tea all week and yesterday I actually only ate once because I simply wasn't hungry.

I've gone lower carb. Not properly low carb but ive ditched all the bread, pasta, crisps etc. And I've really upped my veg in take.

I don't think I've had any significant weight loss yet. I don't have scales so I'm going by how my clothes feel. But I already feel healthier so I'll be powering on.

Good luck everyone Smile

Sissy31 · 04/08/2020 07:56

My weight loss has stalled and i am not 100% sure why. I certainly feel better fasting but my weight loss has been minimal. I wasnt overweight to begin with but defo had abit to lose to make me feel better. Ive been fasting for 76 days and only lost 4lbs in total Confused
So ive started this week trying to clean up my diet a little more. Less sugar, little/no bread and trying to have a couple of days per week without meat - i know i should hacve done this when i started fasting but if i would have changed it all at once i would have been more likely to quit.
Also going to go back to doing 18/6 as id fallen back into 16/8 over the last few weeks.

@CaveMum Love these new scales! Ive never known my body fat percentage or water weight but always wondered. I love that they go into so much detail!
