Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Hallo! I’m feeling more positive this week. 1lbs down and good energy levels. First day back at work today since mat leave and I was so busy I ended up doing a 20 hour fast without really noticing. I wasn’t as hungry and didn’t eat as much as usual at dinner time, so tomorrow should be interesting.

I occasionally feel nauseous @JamieFrasersSassenach. I found tea used to trigger it, so only drink coffe now. Lots of coffee thanks to the teething baby 😴

Pebbleinthesand · 01/07/2020 21:32

I've managed on just water during my fast last night and today so far so I think this may have been my first 100% clean fast. I didn't find drinking plain water too bad so I thinl I just need to get over myself and get on with it.

I've felt quite tired the last few days and can't work out of its fasting, being back in work every day with no real break or a combination.

The one advantage to work being crazy is I don't have time to thi k about the fact that I've not eaten.

LollyCake · 02/07/2020 08:37

Hi everyone, I've just started and I'm on day two.

Yesterday I was so ridiculously hungry! Even after eating I would be hungry after. I also ended up with a migraine towards the end of the day. I am prone to them and drink lots of water already. I don't drink coffee or tea so it wasn't caffeine withdrawal.

This morning I'm really tired and still have a lingering headache.

Is this all normal? I'm being super grumpy towards my kids 😳

Pebbleinthesand · 02/07/2020 12:14

Hi @Lollycake I've only been doing it since Sunday so I'm new to it too. I had a headache in Monday but have been fine since? When's your eating window? Have you considered moving or extending it to see if that helps?

WinterAndRoughWeather · 02/07/2020 22:35

Three days of fast 800 done - I’m bloody hungry around this time every night. In the morning I don’t feel hungry at all, so sticking to a 16-18 hour fast has been fine. It’s an hour or so after dinner that I feel famished.

Sticking to it though! 11 days to go, and have a day off to look forward to on Wednesday.

It better bloody work or I’ll be livid.

Sissy31 · 02/07/2020 23:09

@WinterAndRoughWeather i'm not doing Fast800 but i am always hungry of an evening, i think partly out of habit!
I close my eating window at 7pm then feel hungry around 9/10pm but i haventt given in to it! I put myself to bed then feel better in the morning haha!

LollyCake · 02/07/2020 23:22

@Pebbleinthesand I'm eating between 12 and 8. I decided on that so I could have a treat after the kids had gone to bed!

I ended up feeling really sick and lightheaded this morning, but while out doing some errands I was fine. Didn't actually manage to eat lunch until just after 1! I'm hoping it gets easier or I might go back to calorie counting.

ElspethFlashman · 03/07/2020 08:05

Well I've definitely plateaued like fuck! Been the exact same for about 2 weeks now!

On the one hand I'm happy I've basically lost a stone and I'm not gaining. On the other hand, WTF? I still have another 20 lbs to go!

So am re-examining portions and also the milk in my tea. Have to get it kick-started again!

Sissy31 · 03/07/2020 10:40

Weigh day today and i'm down another 2lbs! Smile
The last 2 weeks ive had no movement on the scales and now 2lbs down so i am very happy! As long as it keeps coming off slowly i am happy Grin

shallwethree · 03/07/2020 13:42

I've just found this thread. I've done 16/8 in the past and it works well - but then something derails me.

I'd like to start again but the current derailment is my three times a day medication 'with food' (naproxen) - how do you get round that? I'd rather not cram three doses into eight hours but equally don't want to take it without eating.

Regarding coffee first thing: I read that coffee with a little cream was ok (it didn't specify how 'little'), so I guess a dash of milk would be ok too ... but probably not a milky cappuccino.

Sorry if these points have been covered, I've only just found this thread and haven't read it yet (but will).

CaveMum · 03/07/2020 14:00

Another one stuck on the same weight as last week here 😤

Sissy31 · 03/07/2020 14:06

@shallwethree welcome to the group!
I take naproxen too (though not daily), i take it without food but i do know that some people suffer if they dont, luckily my stomach is okay without.

The milk/cream debate is a long one because ultimatly milk/cream is a food substance so it does break the fast, but i think if you cant go without it at the beginning then use a little to start with while you are getting used to fasting, then start a proper fast a week or so in Smile

Pandapotato · 03/07/2020 21:00

Hope you are feeling better @LollyCake? I’m prone to clusters of hormone related migraines and I actually find the fasting helps. There is a lot of evidence I think about it being good for hormone regulation. I think headaches are common as you adjust. You can try a pinch of salt if you feel you need something to balance electrolytes.

Pandapotato · 03/07/2020 21:13

Oops! Posted too soon!
It does get easier @LollyCake. But it’s ok if it’s not for you too.

Sounds like you are doing so well @WinterAndRoughWeather. Interested to hear how you get on.

Don’t despair @ElspethFlashman and @CaveMum! I’ve been on a plateau (or just not being very good during my window) for a couple of weeks, but I’ve dropped 3lbs this week. Combo of end of period and being a bit stricter within my window.
I think I need another 8lbs to be solidly out of obese, which was my starting goal.

Welcome @shallwethree.

Hope everyone has had a good day!

LollyCake · 03/07/2020 21:19

@Pandapotato Today was a little better, thanks. I wasn't so hungry in the morning but I still feel a little ropey this afternoon. Another headache, but not a migraine. My kids have been terrible today so it might just be them 🤣

Pandapotato · 03/07/2020 21:57

@LollyCake I have had a permanent headache since lockdown! They are so loud 🙉

Sissy31 · 04/07/2020 13:08

So i'm going back to work on Monday. I work in an office so sat at my desk most of the day.
I havent been to work since i started fasting but before lockdown i was always hungry at work, likely out of habit. At the weekends i could always easily skip breakfast but during the week as soon as i sat at my desk at 9am my stomach would grumble loudly and id have hunger pangs, which i would satisfy with cups of tea and a biscuit. I'm nervous going back to work and feeling hungry all morning when i'm fasting.
I plan to bring a light salad and possibly a bread roll some days (trying to cut back on the bread) to eat at 1pm and have a cup of tea in the afternoon then have dinner when i get home.
Anyone else get hungry at work? I know it is out of habit of being stuck at my desk but the hunger feels so real!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 04/07/2020 18:35

Offices are the worst for sticking to a diet. I don’t work in one any more but did for years. People are always bringing in cakes they’ve made, or buying chocolate and sweets for everyone (because they wanted it for themselves and felt less bad about it if they bought a load and shared it round). Plus we had a kiosk on our floor selling snacks. Nightmare.

Sissy31 · 04/07/2020 20:04

@WinterAndRoughWeather I know, my office is only small but there are always cakes, biscuits and chocolate around.
I think its more habit that i constantly snack at work usually Sad

WinterAndRoughWeather · 04/07/2020 20:05

Yes it’s the boredom too. Anything to get you through the day. Offices are shit.

KnobblyWand · 05/07/2020 07:41

I was hoping there was an IF thread on here! I'm on the facebook group for women but it's not very good at keeping you accountable.

I'm 5'4", 225lbs/16st Sad

I'm doing 18:16, breaking my fast at around 12/1pm most days getting in two good meals before 6pm.

REALLY struggling with water because on top of this, I've cut out pepsi max, which is a huge addiction for me! Anyone else cut out diet drinks?

KnobblyWand · 05/07/2020 07:41

18:6*

ElspethFlashman · 05/07/2020 08:56

I had a bit too much slimline G&T last night. And two small packets of crisps! We were up really late binging Succession, highly recommend! I used to drink a lot of wine, but have barely had any since I started 16:8 and feel much better for the switch.

I keep trying to push my fast to later if I have an evening like that, but I really can't manage beyond 11am. I hear all these brilliant stories of ppl pushing their window to 3pm to compensate or even doing an OMAD day, but it seems impossible.

ElspethFlashman · 05/07/2020 08:57

Btw I've joined the intermittent fasting subreddit on Reddit and it's hugely inspirational. People's before and after photos are amazing.

CaveMum · 05/07/2020 09:46

Elspeth I’d just say keep going and see if you can push your window a bit each day. The longest I’ve managed to go so far is about 19 hours, but that was by accident rather than design!

I’m trying not to get disheartened with the plateau, I’ve had to stop running for a few days as I’ve picked up a small injury so hopefullly o ce I can get running again that will help.
