Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Yes! Very interested. Been thinking about intermittent fasting for a while.

TheStuffWasBad · 26/04/2020 11:10

I'm on day three. I'm doing 12 till 8. My sleeping is pretty rubbish though, so I'm awake usually by 6, and I'm feeling pretty hungry right now! But less than an hour till lunch. Or is it breakfast 🤔 😁

Klaudia14 · 26/04/2020 11:18

Brunch Smile

I had a banana to to break my fast and about to make spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread and salad for lunch! Looking forward to it so much

TheStuffWasBad · 26/04/2020 11:38

I've got leftover leek quiche for lunch. Haven't decided on dinner yet. Might be pasta, might just use up some stuff from the freezer.

At the moment I'm just using up stuff, but I'm planning to go back to a more wholefood plant based diet. Which largely suits me. I rarely want meat or fish, but I agree with you about intuitive eating (I'm not good at it though) and so when I do feel like it, I will have it. It happens so rarely that I'm pretty sure I'm needing a boost of b12 or omega 6 or whatever.

Klaudia14 · 26/04/2020 21:42

I love quiche ...it was one of my forbidden foods in the past. Need to get some this week Smile
Today was good. I finished off my bottle of wine this evening and my energy has been good. As I went straight to lunch from breaking my fast ( apart from the banana) I found myself very hungry less than 2 hours after eating a huge lunch. I had some yogurt and fruit. I don't think I'm eating enough so still working through it. I don't want to go down the route of counting calories

TheStuffWasBad · 26/04/2020 22:18

I went for pasta tonight. Tried a really easy sauce I hadn't made before, like a spinach pesto I guess. Just blitzing up spinach, cashews, garlic and oil, and heating it through with the cooked pasta. I added salt, pepper and cheese after. Was rant nice, I'll definitely do that one again.

Had no fruit at all today, so my plan tomorrow is to start with fruit or maybe a smoothie, and take it from there. I usual have a vague meal plan for the week, but I couldn't be bothered to do one yet for this week.

Itshotoday · 26/04/2020 22:50

This has really worked for me in the past.

Back on it again today so tagging.

Klaudia14 · 27/04/2020 21:48

Leftover pasta day for me today. I ended up being extra busy at work and didn't eat until 12:15! That's over 17 hrs fasting though a colleague brought me a cappuccino at 11 so I guess that would count . I ate more than usual this afternoon as I was hungry. Still feeling great and my face seems smoother and generally I look a lot less tired in my face. How was everyone's day?

OP posts:
TheStuffWasBad · 27/04/2020 22:23

I ate badly today, although I stuck to my hours. Had half a pomelo at 12, followed by a frozen battered fish fillet, peas and oven chips. Dinner was the last of the quiche with more oven chips. I was going to have pasta, but then realised I needed to finish the quiche. Oh, and a salted caramel haagen daazs ice lolly and some crackers and cheese ... Blush

But I thought about having a glayva (have been reading the favourite liqueurs thread), then realised it was 9pm so resisted. So that's a positive!

Tomorrow I will eat better!

TheStuffWasBad · 28/04/2020 20:30

I was bad today and baked bread and a cake.

But... I've been struggling with a writing task I had been given on Friday. And taking a break from it to do that seemed to do the trick! While the cake was cooking I managed to do an entire first draft! And I had honestly been tearing my hair out these last few days trying to make headway. So it was all worth it!

How have you guys done?

Klaudia14 · 28/04/2020 22:40

Nothing bad about baking bread and cake! It did the trick like you say and you got your work done. Smile

In my opinion, and what I'm really trying to stick to is no food restrictions of any kind! Today was good but I was feeling hungry this morning. Managed it until 11 but only just. Had two fried eggs and toast and then homemade tomato soup with crusty bread. Oh and an egg custard tart. I need to eat more tomorrow! I definitely didn't eat enough and tummy is rumbling just now Sad I went food shopping and for lots of nice food including a quiche

Can I join?
Back ok 16:8 after a couple of years off. Found it great in the past for helping regulate energy levels. And weight if I didn’t pig out in my eating window!
I have a 6mo superchunk who I am bf’ing. But he’s eating solids Like a boss now and I’ve been slowly increasing my fasting window over the past 2 weeks.
I have a few stone to drop, but mostly want to stop unhealthy habits of reaching for food when I’m bored or tired. I really enjoyed 16:8 in the past as it feels less restrictive and I like to eat the same as the rest if the family for our evening meal.
Today I had a black coffee first thing. Scrambled egg and cheese wraps for lunch with cut up veg, a pear mid afternoon And a cheeseburger, oven chips and corn on the cob for dinner followed by some Greek yogurt with oats and honey. It’s the first day in ages that I haven’t dipped into the kids sweet stash for an afternoon boost.

So I'm going today starts like yesterday. I only got hungry at 11.30am, which was amazing!

Because I made bread yesterday, today will start with a fruit smoothie and toast with lime marmalade. I usually start with something more 'lunchy' but the marmalade needs to be used! I have some spinach, so that will go in the smoothie too.

I accidentally froze peppers at the back of my fridge, so I'll be using them up later. Maybe a veg stir fry with rice. But I'm open to ideas!

Now for some water. I know how to push the boat out, me 😉

Pandapotato · 29/04/2020 13:47

I’m right there with you @Klaudia14 - we have a teenager & I don’t want her to see me eating differently. Low carb has worked for me in the past, but that won’t work with our family meals. I don’t think you can do it while bf’ing either.
Definitely try more filling meals. I tend to eat big portions, which are a downfall if I’m not fasting. Love an egg custard tart!

Stir fry is a great idea @TheStuffWasBad. I drink loads of hot water in my fasting window.

Boring here today so far. Just a cheese & tomato roll with some crisps and an apple. I think the lockdown is going to help me with the fasting - with everyone at home all the time, I hardly have time to eat!

I’m trying not to weigh myself often, but this morning showed I have dropped 4lbs in about 10 days. Not bad at all. I think I’m pretty much back to pre baby weight. Shame that still leaves me overweight!

Klaudia14 · 29/04/2020 16:25

Much better day so far and I agree lockdown is helping me not to binge as DD is always home and I'm definitely eating better!

So far I broke my fast with Greek yoghurt topped with raspberries, granola and almonds. Then I had a sandwich with pastrami and coleslaw and a bowl of leftover soup from yesterday plus a banana. This has kept me going all afternoon and for tea we're having chicken fajitas with side salad and one of the carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that I baked with DD this morning.
Have also taken dog for his two daily walks

Klaudia14 · 29/04/2020 16:28

@TheStuffWasBad probably too late but if you don't want stir fry maybe you can roast the peppers and have it in a soup?

Water is key for me and keeping everything working Wink and getting rid of the bloating. I tend to drink more when at work as I talk all day but not been doing too bad on my days at home. Have a full glass first thing while I take my vitamins and then keep topping it up with each meal

OP posts:
TheStuffWasBad · 29/04/2020 20:37

I did think about soup, but I have carrots I am planning to make into soup in the next day or two. The stir fry wasn't bad though!

I was very sensible (for me), I sliced up the cake and froze it, so I can take out one slice per day. Otherwise I'll be trying to use it up in three days while it's still fresh - and there's only me here...

Definitely finding it easier to fast till 12 a few more days in than I did initially.

Panda, I wish I didn't have time to eat! That would make it so much easier Grin

Klaudia, your breakfast sounded great!

Pandapotato · 29/04/2020 21:17

Carrot cake cupcakes sound delish @Klaudia14. I would struggle not to eat them all in one go!
Freezing cake in portions is a genius idea @TheStuffWasBad. There are 5 of us here now all day, every day. My maternity leave is panning our very differently to what I expected. Can’t say I don’t miss the quiet days of just me and the baby!
We had an hours walk and I carried the chunky one in the sling, so a decent bit of exercise. Dinner was spaghetti with tomato & veg sauce and garlic bread. All 3 kids wolfed it down, thank god! I had a bit of Greek yogurt with honey too. Could murder a g&t and some snacks, but going to hold off.

TheStuffWasBad · 30/04/2020 07:52

Panda Potato I've changed my mind. I'll stick to living alone and being not very busy at all! I like being busy, but not so keen on the idea of living with four other people Grin

Pandapotato · 30/04/2020 13:40

@TheStuffWasBad I have a VERY TALKATIVE 4 year old you can borrow if you’d like 😬
Hope everyone is getting on ok today?
I was really hungry this morning. Weird how it’s ok some days and then not others. But I managed not to break my fast until 11, which was actually 17 hours since I last ate.
Dh had to brave the supermarket this morning. He brought me home a brownie! I’m equal parts delighted and disappointed with him!

TheStuffWasBad · 30/04/2020 14:32

Oh what a shame that lockdown prevents me from taking you up on your very generous offer Wink

I've had cake the last three days, so just enjoy your brownie!

Klaudia14 · 30/04/2020 16:16

@TheStuffWasBad I love baked goodies!

@Pandapotato I agree strange how some days are harder than others. I was much better last night as I ate a lot more filling meals in the day but was hungry this morning. I'm at work today and had an activia yoghurt at 11 with some granola and almonds. Followed by a sandwich and mid afternoon I had leftover fajita mix ( chicken peppers and onions) just to keep me going until I get home. Having quiche for my tea
I have had a few chocolates at work! Boss keeps bring some in to keep us going...I'm not complaining...I love sweet treats. I have 8 cupcakes left at home though so might 'need' one this evening. Haha

I'm going to be moved to homeworking in the next week or so....sort of dreading it in food terms as I feel more in control when working in office. It will definitely be an adjustment for me.

On a plus side I can feel a difference in how my clothes fit. Jeans not as tight and t-shirts fitting a bit looser Smile

Klaudia14 · 30/04/2020 16:18

@Pandapotato good for you for not giving in to a g&t ....it's my long weekend as off tomorrow so I might have to open the bottle of red I have at home.
