Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Gonna start this. Woke up this morning and wasn't even hungry till 10am anyway

Klaudia14 · 06/05/2020 21:23

@Pandapotato Dog isn't himself so he's had a lot of snuggles but hopefully he's on the mend. Thank you for asking. Nothing wrong with Haribos, my favourite are the giant strawberries!

My day was hectic. Spent 3 hours power cleaning my paving slabs in the back garden, they were filthy. Because of that I didn't break my fast until 12:30! Food wise all good, had a roast chicken and salad for tea with a glass of my favourite white wine and we ate outside in the lovely sunshine. Since then I had some dark chocolate and yoghurt and fruit. Been very hungry this afternoon so listening to my body and eating.

@Impiz I'm not an expert on this and I'm just giving it a go to get healthier and more intuitive with my eating. I was same with snacking especially in the evening. I don't actually find 16/8 difficult but I am not counting or tracking any calories as diets don't work for me. I eat what I want throughout the day and am working on my intuitive eating by listening to my body and not restricting any food groups. I have on occasion broken my fast early as I don't ever want to be overly hungry. I am surprised that I don't want to eat in the morning! All I have is my coffee! That I could never give up

Pandapotato · 07/05/2020 12:31

Hello! Nice to see a few new faces.

@Impiz I’m exactly the same. Can do really well all day and then undo it all be scoffing loads in the evening. 16:8 definitely helps with that.
You don’t have to calorie count. I don’t. But, obviously, if you eat masses of calories in your eating window, you won’t lose weight if that’s what you want. I find that my appetite is way better regulated when I eat this way. The more I eat, the more I seem to want to eat!

Hope it’s going well for you so far @managedmis.

Hope the dog is better today @Klaudia14. Your diner in the sun sounds gorgeous. One of DH’s lockdown projects is to sort out a seating area for us in the garden. Hopefully it will be finished soon.

Quiet day here today so far. Broke my fast with a cheese and pickle sandwich. Although I feel a bit like we’ve opened a cafe at times, I am really enjoying having us all home to eat together 3 times a day at the moment. We are usually rushing about so much that meals tend to be rushed.

Have a good day everyone!

managedmis · 08/05/2020 02:08

Hope everyone is doing well : great to read everyone's idea, especially what you're eating!

Today has been easy - I did 10am - 6pm and tbh it was easy, BUT I did lie in till 9am, and had coffee before 10am, with just a splash of milk.

Food wise I ate - scrambled eggs, a big tuna and cottage cheese and chickpea salad, then BBQ chicken, mash and stir fried broccoli for dinner. Also had a glass of wine. I feel like I've probably had around 1500 cals, which is what I need to lose.

Ran around with the kids a lot and also did a 45 minute bike ride.

Good luck folks 👍

Klaudia14 · 08/05/2020 07:22

@managedmis sounds like you're off to a good start Smile good to see you're eating some filling meals.

@PandaPotato - I agree it's nice to have everyone at home and having meals together. Hubby is no longer stuck in traffic on his way from work (on the days he goes into the office) so it's nice to be able.toneat together. I love my lunch dates with DD Smile

Yesterday was hectic at work. Didn't break fast until just before 12 but had a big meal, a sandwich, yoghurt with granola, hula hoops and a banana. This kept me going until tea time, had pasta salad that I made with leftover roast chicken and lots of veggies and some mayo. I then had some hummous and crackers with a glass of white just before 8.

Have a lovely bank holiday Friday everyone

Hey, good to see everyone is doing so well!

I'm finding it remarkably easy to stick to. I've always been pretty rubbish at feeling hunger, I don't usually allow myself get to that stage (which explains why I need to lose weight Blush) but when I know that I can eat at 12, as much as I need to, I don't mind it. I'm feeling hungry now, but it's entirely manageable.

I'm trying to get organised. This morning I've done a month's meal plan (which I won't start till I get a supermarket delivery, as i don't have a car any more, since I moved I hardly use it, so I sold it), and will be using up stuff I have in my fridge and freezer till then, with maybe a small top up of fruit and veg if needed.

So now I'm away to cost up what I need to buy, and I think it could work out fairly good value. We'll see!

Hoolajerry · 08/05/2020 23:06

Hi,

Can I join in please? I have been doing this for 4 days now and I love it. Too early to tell if it will have good results but I feel like it's very manageable.
I started off doing 7 am - 3 pm. I'm not a big dinner person and I love toast and marmalade for breakfast. It worked really well. I had to swap yesterday as we had a takeaway for dinner so I fasted from 3pm until 12 so I could reset my pattern to

12 - 8. I'll stay like this for the weekend and then revert back as I want breakfast. I haven't felt I'm denying myself and can cope with hunger pangs as I know it won't be too long until a decent meal.
Today we had chicken fajitas for lunch followed by greek yoghurt with banana, Blueberries and granola. For dinner we had tuna salad. I've also had a couple of beers, a scone and a handful of nuts and crisps. This isn't normal but we went for a long walk and took some drinks and snacks. I've also done a 5km run and a workout in the garden so I don't feel too bad about the indulgence.
I don't have lots to lose but I think I must be peri - menopausal as I've put weight on in places I never have before; namely my boobs and tummy.

Pandapotato · 08/05/2020 23:22

I’ve had one of those days where I’ve barely sat down. I’d also forgotten how crap teething is. My usually happy baby was pretty upset today 😞

I stuck to my fast window and didn’t eat until 12, but then tonight I had some peanuts and 2 gorgeous g&t’s. I’m pretty sure I was done by 9, so I’ll try not to eat until 1ish tomorrow.

The more the merrier @hoolajerry. I’m finding it quite motivating to share my food on here.

Hope everyone is ok? Not looking forward to the promised turn in weather this weekend.

Mary1935 · 09/05/2020 08:32

Hi can anyone advise. I have been doing IF for 4 weeks but I’ve only lost 2ib.
I had two eggs for breakfast with 2 small slices of brown bread. Some low fat yoghurt and strawberries. Around 400 calories
Lunch two brown flat bread, lots is salad and hummus around 400.
Evening meal two chicken thighs. Roasted peppers and courgettes. Half a packet of ready made coccus. I think this is around 600 calories.
I’m 5 foot 3 and weight 12stone 9.
I have not fancied crisps or chocolate.
Prior to this I was having large portions of white rice, 2 bags of crisps, small kits kat and ice cream bars.
I thought it would fall off me - the weight that is.
Any advice.
Thanks.

Pandapotato · 09/05/2020 19:56

@Mary1935 I’ve never lost weight quickly with this way of doing it. More slow & steady. But it’s always stayed off.
I guess that you probably need to reduce your calories if you want to lose faster. I always think that is the most simpler way of looking at it. But I’m not an experts Maybe someone else will be able to make other suggestions.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Glorious here!
I fasted until I absent mindedly licked some cake mix off a spoon just before lunch time!

Hoolajerry · 09/05/2020 21:27

Pandapotato I have just done the same. My daughter made a cake and I just had a lick of the cream spoon. Oops!

I went back to my morning hours today. So ate from 8 - 4. I much prefer that than later in the day especially if I have a big lunch. I can cope with being hungry now as I know I'll be going to bed soon and I love my breakfast. Only a problem if I want a drink.

I've had a goodish day. Had toast, marmalade, coffee and a smoothie for breakfast. Then a large wrap with prosciutto, salad, edam and yoghurt coleslaw for lunch along with some crisps, houmous and fruit. I also a small piece of cake.

Mary1935 I haven't been doing this long enough to know if I'll lose any weight from it. Are you exercising? Could you maybe try reducing your carbs a bit. I fear that this will be my downfall as I just love bread.

Klaudia14 · 09/05/2020 23:21

@Mary1935 some great suggestions for you there. I haven't been at this long..only 3weeks in and feeling like my clothes are a bit looser and I have a lot less bloating and a lot more energy. I don't weight myself so no idea on any weight loss

I haven't had the best of weekends food wise. I realised today that I need to adjust my eating to 10-6 at weekend. I got HANGRY this morning and felt lightheaded and fed up. Ended up eating more than usual today and past my window...I made some my spag bol and just kept going back for more..this evening I had some of it cold as well! I did similar last night just didn't fess up on here..Blush - I will trial 10-6 tomorrow and have breakfast and see his it goes. I'm not beating myself up about it

Klaudia14 · 09/05/2020 23:22

@Hoolajerry your wrap sounds amazing! I love anything with coleslaw and Edam is one of my favourite cheeses

OP posts:
Mary1935 · 10/05/2020 10:08

Hi thanks all - are you mainly do two meals a day?
I’m having 3.
It’s so blinking easy to gain a pound isn’t it - but to lose it is a nightmare!!
I thought I had found a quick fix with this lifestyle choice. I will carry it on though. I’m enjoying it and I do not feel like I’m hungry or feel like I’m depriving myself.
I’ve had a lapse this weekend but restarting tomorrow.
I will keep an eye on this thread.
Happy Sunday

Hoolajerry · 10/05/2020 13:43

Mary1935 I'm having two but one of them is a big meal. So today I've had porridge with sultanas and a large coffee. I have just scoffed roast pork, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, peas and asparagus. Followed by a small piece of chocolate cake and a cup of tea. I will be hungry later but having such a big meal means I don't really fancy anything and definitely don't feel deprived.
I weighed myself this morning for the first time in a long time. I would love to lose a stone but realistically half would be great as I struggle past a certain weight.
I've been for a 6km run today and am doing a workout with my dd this afternoon so hopefully this will help too.

Klaudia14 · 10/05/2020 21:24

Today was better. I did 11-7 purely because we had a lazy morning and stayed in bed. How cold is is today?!

Had yoghurt with raspberries, granola a d extra almonds. Then we had gammon with new potatoes and peas. For desert we had Natas ( Portuguese custard tarts)
We then had a lazy tea of toasted tea cakes and strawberries. I had one of my home made granola bars before my fast restarted. I made a mistake and had a small glass of Fanta at 9pm! Thought it was calorie free...it's now! Oh well - not end of the world and I really fancied it! I rarely drink pop

How was everyone's day?

OP posts:
ChangeThePassword · 10/05/2020 23:22

Hey, definitely finding fasting till 12 much easier now. Didn't realise the time today till it was pretty bang on 12.

To answer your question Mary, for me it varies. Sometimes I'll have something light at 12, like a smoothie, in which case I might have a bowl of soup at 2 or 3, and then a main meal at about 7pm.

Other days I'll have more to eat at 12, and then maybe a snack in the afternoon, then a big dinner.

I think for me, part of what I like about it is not having the meals a day. It saves so much time missing one out.

Mary1935 · 11/05/2020 07:11

Thankyou for all the feedback I have received.
I am going to carry it on. I will add in more walking and that may shift it to a pound a week.
I’m happy with the lifestyle choice going forward.

Pandapotato · 11/05/2020 12:52

How is everyone today?
It just seems so hectic here all the time with us all home. The days are flying by.

I ate quite a lot yesterday. The teenager made a cake. And it was my mums birthday, so we sat outside their house for socially distanced cake. Then we had pulled pork for dinner and it was so delicious that I had to eat piles of it! Just had my lunch with some more in a wrap and a bowl of soup. I accidentally ordered 4kg onions instead of 4, so onion soup all round 😂

Your wrap sounds delicious @Hoolajerry.

@Mary1935 I generally stick to 2 meals and maybe a snack.

It’s so much colder today again! Ds was asking about his paddling pool at about 8am. Erm, I think it’s gone back in the garage for a bit mate!

Hoolajerry · 11/05/2020 18:58

I'm bloody starving today and I have caved a little this evening and have eaten a small piece of ham. Hardly 100's of calories but annoying still. I also slept really badly last night as I was hungry and kept dreaming of food!
Foodwise I had two slices of toast with with jam and peanut butter, a smoothie and a coffee. For lunch I had bean salad with green salad and pork fillet (leftovers) with greek yoghurt, mixed fruits and granola and linseed. I've also had a snack packet of nuts, an oat cereal bar, a nectarine, an apple and about 5 mint sweets.
I walked the dogs first thing but have pretty much sat on my arse all day at work. Off to play football with the dc now.

Pandapotato laughing at your onions. Luckily they keep!

Klaudia14 · 11/05/2020 22:24

@Pandapotato socially distanced cake-- for obvious reasons that made me feel a bit sad. Such weird times we're living through at moment.
I did have a chuckle at your onions...I did that with bananas a few years back...we had a lot of banana bread and frozen bananas as I was too embarrassed to return them to driver Blush
I love pulled pork! Yum
@Hoolajerry
The night time hunger happened to me a few times too but that's usually if I've not eaten enough. You might need 3 meals and snacks. Play around with it, it's not good to be feeling hunger like that.

Today I finally got set up to wfh and it will be long term if not permanent! I am quite excited about this new chapter in my working life...we shall see how it goes with food. I have a lot of goodie temptations at work so being away is not overly bad haha

Today I had a yogurt with fruit, granola and extra nuts. We ordered some lovely baguettes at work and I had one with Parma ham and salad and a frozen coffee and a homemade granola bar. For tea it was left over spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread. Had a pretty big portion as I ate it late and knew I wouldn't have time to squeeze in an evening snack.
Tomorrow I'm planning a long walk with the dog and to resume my popsugar exercise videos..it's been a while!

I just started 16:8 on the 10th of May so I'm busily reading the thread for recipe and food ideas. My window for eating is 11am until 7pm. That's ok for me as I hate and have always hated to eat breakfast when I get up.

I'm chugging 2 litres of water a day which is a bit of a shock to the system though! Shock

gingerbeerandlemonade · 12/05/2020 07:20

Can I join? My window is 10-6. Two toddlers at home so suits me well. As others have said I don't want to start dieting in front of my children and to be honest, I don't have the energy at the moment to weigh and measure so I think the fast style suits me. I started yesterday and had an egg on toast for breakfast, tomato salad for lunch with a homemade cake my toddler made after, beans on toast for dinner and another tomato salad.

ChangeThePassword · 12/05/2020 10:20

All welcome here!

Well, I have a top tip for you all.

Don't go for a long walk before dinner and then pop into the shop for some fruit and veg on the way home. You'll come out with crisps, sweets and biscuits too... (or maybe that's just me 😁)

I've been eating really quite well.. Till then. Ah well, still sticking to the 12 till 8 window and it's all good!

Need to figure out what dinner is going to be though. Might be a veg curry as I have some curry-able veg to be used up.
