Oh wow, bear, I did the Shakespeare half last year! You might be local to me! 😀

onanothertrain · 10/10/2018 20:09

1200 calories and 35g carbs today, RI30 day 7. Does anyone have any ideas for low carb desserts? Not chocolatey ones though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/10/2018 20:25

Dungarees I’m about 15 miles from Stratford but it’s my nearest one!

Onanother I love frozen raspberries with Greek yogurt, or also mascarpone cheese with a few berries is also nice, very rich so you don’t need much.
Or my dad makes baked apples - you get a whole cooking apple, core it, leave the skin on and bake it, you can stuff it with raisins/ cinnamon (not exactly BSD friendly but only a few) and bake it in the oven. Serve with cream?

I’ve had a good day today, helped my dsis clean her new house. Took my own lunch, dinner we had turkey mince in tacos and I had one corn tortilla, but otherwise all BSD friendly.

No calorie counting, 15k steps (6.5km run)

Tomorrow might not be so peachy- I’m baking 75 Hallowe’en cupcakes and gingerbread for the PTA disco on Friday, so we’ll see how that pans out....

Thanks for the suggestions bear. I have tasks and Greek yoghurt for breakfast during the week. I have a tub of mascarpone to use up and thought I could make a dessert for OH who has had a rubbish week at work. It would need to be like a proper pudding though! Maybe a lemon mousse type thingy...

onanothertrain · 10/10/2018 20:49

Rasps not tasks!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/10/2018 20:53

I suppose you could use the basic mousse ‘theory’ and leave out the sugar? Egg whites whisked, cream, lemon?
I’ve done Jamie Oliver’s chocolate mousse this way, just omitted sugar, and it was fine, but obviously it’s chocolate! You could use any fruit instead I suppose. I made a nice crumble topping once with peanut butter and crushed nuts on fruit but it was about a million calories a portion!

I'm going to try lemon, mascarpone and raspberry ice cream. I'll report back.....

Oh that sounds amazing, please do!!

Hello all, thought I'd pop my head back in. Congratulations on the brilliant progress everyone.

I did about 10 weeks of BSD and have been easily maintaining the (nearly) two stone loss for about two months despite reintroducing pasta and bread. Plus lots of work trips to the US where even the savoury food tastes sweet.

I still have a lot to lose so need to get back on things and start a new cycle....but why is it so hard to get started again??!! I found the first round so easy but getting back into it is so hard! Many failed attempts at a restart.

My plan is to plan plan plan ahead and set a clear start date and introduce an achievable exercise goal. Any other ideas on how to find that missing drive to get committed again?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/10/2018 09:00

Polpette I agree, second round is always harder. My only advice is just to have a really strict week, track calories and keep busy.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/10/2018 09:01

And well done on your loss and maintenance, especially if you’ve managed to reintroduce a few things and travel too. Do you limit carbs still?

OP posts:
onanothertrain · 11/10/2018 09:38

polpette I find it helps to write everything down. I also started with a pile of clothes I wanted to fit back into and try them on every couple of weeks. There's lots of items that fit and are now in my wardrobe and the pile is much smaller

Polpette · 11/10/2018 18:26

I'm back on the carbs but only in a small way - wild rice, wholemeal pasta, sourdough bread etc. I will severely reduce them when I start BSD round two though. I think planning is my downfall, so you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to starting with a strict week.

Also like the idea of having an outfit to try on weekly, I know the exact dress too so thanks for that idea too.

I think Christmas looming is also a good motivator.

Great to see you're still running Bear sounds like it's going well.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/10/2018 21:51

Had a really poor day today after a terrible night (only 5 minutes deep sleep according to Fitbit!) and as I was baking for school I ended up going til about 4pm only eating occasional tastes of icing and a few chocolate buttons, and s slice of cheese. That’s not very good is it?? My dinner was nice though, and BSD friendly. Then I went for a 5km run.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/10/2018 13:12

Good start to the day, nothing to eat until after my run (which was grim and wet and windy) and then I’ve had calamari, prawns, crushed peas and feta cheese. Yummy! Weighed in at 10.2.4 this morning, so that’s the last of my cruise weight gone. Not bad: 4 days on, 4 days off!

Planning a quiet weekend with lots of jobs to do so hopeful for a focussed food weekend too. I now have 2 clear weeks with no social arrangements or family things, and my target is so close I can practically smell it- i want those 9’s !!!

OP posts:
Polpette · 12/10/2018 18:57

Good luck with reaching the 9s Bear, you're so so close.

Being antisocial seems to be the key to success - I long for a stretch of zero social engagements so that I can really focus (not that I'm really complaining but when it comes to BSD it does help).

quince2figs · 13/10/2018 10:06

You’re doing amazingly, Bear. Glad the cruise was great.
I am plodding along with, I would say 80-90% of food on plan, and the rest usually something sweet at the end of a long work day, when exhausted.
This is still resulting in a very steady loss - not a huge drop as per the plan should be, but am now at 12 kg loss over 10 weeks, which I am so pleased with. Clothes are looser, will need to buy new bras(!) soon, and several people have commented. Pleasingly, seem to have lost most inches from round my middle (which was out of proportion to even the rest of me), and my cheeekbones have started to reappear.
So glad to hear several of you are maintaining your loss on a less rigid plan.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/10/2018 10:39

Quince that’s about 3lb a week, hardly plodding along!! Well done!

I have to admit I’m struggling to get my focus back after last weekend, and I’m expecting to be back up a few pounds after the weekend, I know it’s mostly water but the water retention is caused by my not exactly following the plan. I struggle with the 90:10 ratio as in that 10% I can eat a LOT of calories and carbs. I feel like I need a clean detox week I think!

Waiting for this hideous grey rain to stop before I head out for my long run, hopefully to do 10 miles, although I am not going that far if it’s still raining. It’s truly miserable here!

We’ve got roast pork and crackling and loads of veg for dinner tonight, one of my favourite meals!

A pretty good day today, had a nice omelette this morning, then roast pork for tea, just had a Cadbury’s highlights hot choc (not BSD friendly buy only 40 calories and I’d prefer that to one measly square of chocolate!). I haven’t counted calories, but everything has been on plan except the highlights. 18k steps, including 12.5km run.

I’m going to calorie count this week, at least until Thursday or Friday, just to get my head back on track. Weirdly, I think the impact of my hypno has been that I’m being rather forgiving of my off plan eating, so rather than not doing it, I’m just not feeling guilty about it. Obviously that’s a good thing, but isn’t quite what I intended, although it has eased my ‘once I start I can’t stop’ mentality a lot. I’d be keen to see if now I have that side of it sorted whether I can now regain control of the calories and carbs to finally get those last few pounds off.

Menu planned for the week ahead, shopping list done ready for tomorrow, and a busy week planned too so hopefully I can keep on top of it this week!

Have a great week everyone!

Hi all, still haven't got letter with official all clear (mammogram recall), it will be 3 weeks since recall appointment tomorrow. If it doesn't come in tomorrow's post I will phone. Trying to count blessings but actually fed up with it hanging over my head is the truth.

Weighed and measured this morning, lost 1 1/2 lbs, haven't been calorie counting but sticking to BSD foods other than rye bread a couple of times. Feel much better than last week, getting back into it again. Bear mentioned goals for Christmas and I've been thinking about it. Decided on a new weight goal and more importantly a waist measurement of 28". My waist was 37" on 1st Jan and is now 31". I do have 28" jeans I used to wear so it should be possible. So, started food diary again this morning and will give myself 1,000 kc max and see how the week goes. Family occasion on 4th November and I know what I want to wear so that is a nice short term goal to aim for.

onanothertrain · 15/10/2018 18:26

Reporting back on the mascarpone, lemon and raspberry ice cream.
Turned out a cross between a mousse and ice cream, was ok for me as I'm not sweet toothed but doubt is make it again.
Did make an aubergine bake that was lovely. I'll post the recipe for that.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/10/2018 18:38

West wing FlowersI don’t know much about these things, but I would imagine that if there was a serious issue then you would have heard, so try not to worry. Although, I completely understand, I’d be rattling around in my own head just the same. Hope you hear from them soon

Onanothertrain that sounds nice, although I do find that substitute puddings never quite cut it. I made Jamie Oliver chocolate mousse once and just omitted the sugar and it was quite nice, but then dark chocolate does still have sugar in it. Would you consider using stevia or something in it just to take the edge off?

A good day for me. Ran this morning in the miserable rain. Ate leftover stew and sprouts for lunch which really helped fill me up- must remember that now it’s getting cold. Spicy chicken, broccoli rice, and veg for dinner , and will probably have a 40 cal hot choc for supper (it feels like a treat and it does satisfy my cravings for chocolate, although it’s not really BSD compatible!)

OP posts:
Westwing1 · 15/10/2018 20:14

Thanks Bear, I agree, if there were something bad I would have heard by now. Duck, lentils and peas for dinner, comfort food.

onanothertrain · 16/10/2018 17:45

Weighed myself today, I've only lost 2 pounds in 6 weeks. I'm so disappointed, I know I was on holiday but I've followed the BSD. Going to try and take measurements this week to see if they are any better Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/10/2018 20:43

Onanother yes do your measurements, I bet you’ll have shrunk!

Another ok day for me, although I didn’t quite manage to calorie count. Looked after my little niece all day which was fun but very busy, then went to circuits tonight. Lunch was salad, I ate some prawns at about 4pm, and then my dinner was a smoked basa/prawn/seafood mix in a cream and Parmesan sauce with veg. Very rich and cheesy and calorific, but I only had a small amount. Then dessert was a spoonful of peanut butter! So all in all it’s been a good day!
