Very, that is brilliant. You should be so proud of sticking to it for the full 8 weeks, and 30+lbs of weight loss is amazing.

I finish on Monday, and I am planning to relax the rules a little bit (mostly a Med diet 5-2) for a few weeks before starting again on the strict plan after Easter. I'm hoping that will give my body chance to settle into its new size and food expectations, and it will give me chance to enjoy things like Easter and my birthday without worrying too much about food.

Might be worth thinking about a little break where you let yourself have more calories in the day for a while, before mentally getting to the position of being ready to start the strict plan again? One of the things that's really motivated me has been knowing it's 8 weeks, a time limited project. Obviously you don't want to go crazy or undo all your hard work, though!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 28/02/2018 09:45

very what a brilliant loss! You should be so proud. 30lbs is a massive difference. You are a Star
We are all locked in the house today because the weather is horrendous and the schools are closed.
I'm trying to refocus on BSD this week and have had home-made soup for lunch every day. I'm also going to dig out some of my old meal planners and just work through them again.
Lots of great losses on here - well done everyone!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/02/2018 14:04

Very that’s brilliant, well done!

I’ve just done my last run for February, and totalled up my numbers- I challenged myself to run 50km in February, I’ve actually done 69.4!! (Really wish I’d pushed myself the extra half k today now, but hey!). So looks like my challenge for March is 70km. I am really noticing my body shape changing as a result, I’m not quite in smaller clothes but the ones I’m in are definitely fitting better, I don’t look so pregnant have a poochy belly anymore. So even though the scales are only creeping down, it’s definitely doing something. Not to mention how much my mental health is improving. I am totally converted!

Is anyone doing this De-chox thing in March that’s been advertised? (It’s like a charity sponsored BHF thing?)

As for today, I’ve got dc off school with a sick bug. It seems to be going round them all, as both boys seemed better but then were ill again last night. Dd has the constitutional an Ox so she’s unscathed, as am I.

I’m about to go into the kitchen and batch cook some mince-based dishes to have tonight, and freeze for later. Any inspiration other than bolognese or chilli?

Thanks all! Really appreciate all the advice and support I've gotten here - has been SO SO SO helpful.

bridget that's good advice. I may take a wee bit of a relax for next few days, general Mediterranean, before diving back in. Very stressful time at work, so not being quite so stringent on food probably a good thing. As long as I'm careful not to let food become a reward for getting through stressful things.

Ugh just been out this morning and it really is icy and awful. Definitely soup on the menu here too!

bear maybe some form of moussaka as a mince-based option? Have to change the white sauce on top to be more cheesy instead, but that's not exactly a sacrifice in my (cheese-loving) book!

bridgetreilly · 28/02/2018 16:56

Some kind of burgers with the mince?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/02/2018 17:24

Mmmmm should have done burgers! Instead I split it into 2/3 and 1/3 quantity and did a child friendly, no bits bolognese and a grown up’s beany chilli using some of the million tins of beans in the cupboard. Ours should split into 4 portions of 250 calories each, so that’s 2 meals in the freezer for another time.

Moussaka also a good idea, except I don’t like aubergine. The texture of it just doesn’t agree with me. Perhaps next week a courgette moussaka type thing will be on the menu!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/02/2018 19:56

Closing the kitchen on 915 cals, 79g carbs (although 23g of that was fibre)- that’s the effect of all the beans added to my taco chilli mince (it was delicious though, so it’s ok!)

Had a really positive, good day today. Felt like I was really ‘on it’ again, did my run and just generally felt really positive. That’s a nice feeling!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 28/02/2018 20:25

bear 69.4km is brilliant. You definitely seem to have found an exercise regime that works for you.
I know I'm a bit late with the mince questions but my favourite mince recipes: are meatballs; a low-carb version of Korean beef; Joe Wicks' cottage pie.
Our supermarket delivery was cancelled this evening because of the weather so I have no fresh meat, chicken, etc. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be just as bad (if not worse) so cooking will be an interesting challenge. I'm thinking frittata, soup then tuna fish pie.

londonista · 28/02/2018 20:30

Good one Bear! 👍🏻

And nice job Very - and i completely agree re the advice on this thread.
So much I rely on. Got home starving - had a slice of ham. Just had a glass of hot squash. Started losing more weight after introducing more fat in my diet. Every problem solved!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/03/2018 07:42

Weighed in at 11.6.5 this morning, woo hoo! So 2.5lb off this week, and it’s actually proper loss rather than
re-loss! Those 800 calorie days really do seem to work!

Today: kids off school, one poorly, one snowed off, and one who is always off! They’re arguing already! I am going to put something animated and loud on the TV and find some very important jobs to do upstairs, probably sort my wardrobe.

Wrap up warm everyone! Place how’s conditions where you are? The big snow is set to hit here about midday and snow for several hours.

OP posts:
bridgetreilly · 01/03/2018 08:56

I caved and had some chocolate last because I was cold, and snow makes me really anxious, and I'm also feeling a bit demob happy. Still seem to have lost 1lb this morning though!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 01/03/2018 10:30

bear by 5pm yesterday we had over 4 inches of snow. We now have approx 8 and it's still snowing! Sometimes light flurries; sometimes almost a blizzard. All schools and nurseries closed. Even the 24-hr supermarkets were closed by 7pm last night.
We're in a red alert area and are still waiting to find out if school will be closed tomorrow or not. It is beautiful but very cold. I hope it's not too bad when it reaches you.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/03/2018 11:24

Oooh place, hope you’re not snowed in for long! We’ve had constant light snow, but it isn’t really deep. Roads are treacherous though. Apparently grit doesn’t work below -7 so they just haven’t gritted at all. Both schools on our road are closed. Even Dh has taken a snow day which is very unlike him, so it must be bad.

Just escaping from the kids to make some roast squash soup!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/03/2018 14:24

So.....kids are making flapjacks** I know I know. Torture. I did suggest we made fat feeders for the birds, but my idea was swiftly vetoed. However I am pondering the possibility of some sort of seed bar, porridge oats perhaps, raw nuts, peanut butter??? No sugar (obvs). Would it hold together? Would it taste like flapjack oh please god, let it taste like flapjack
Would be mega calories, but if it was cut into little squares and savoured from the fridge......unfortunately the only ingredients I have to try this out are porridge oats, peanut butter and chia seeds (can they be eaten in their whole form or should they be smashed up?) - I’m thinking I might try this once I can get to the shops next week. If it all goes horribly wrong, it could maybe be used as a crunchy topping for yoghurt?

AromaticSpices · 02/03/2018 09:55

The last few days have been really difficult. I've been at home due to the snow and DH bought loads of chocolate. I can usually resist fine but I had a weak moment (or three) yesterday and had some chocolate biscuits. I def went over calories yesterday, but only a smidge over my TDEE so hopefully I've not done lots of damage. But jeez it was hard to not keep eating the biscuits, really made me realise how addictive sugar/choc is. I'm trying to draw a line under it today, and planning to fast until lunch again like usual. Argh. Being cooped up under snow-arrest in the house with DH and the kids is not helping me!

How did the flapjacks go thenewaveragebear? Chia seeds can def be used as they are. If you make little flapjacks with oats, pb and chia seeds they should def firm up in the fridge I'd have thought so might well work. Oats are a bit of a no-no though aren't they? Ok for the post-8 weeks period though I guess.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 02/03/2018 20:06

We ventured into the garden for a snowball fight yesterday (which as DH pointed out was not sensible since I'm still suffering from backache and I'm struggling today) but I just couldn't bear being cooped up any longer. Accidentally had a hot chocolate afterwards Blush
WI today and by some complete fluke have lost the 4lbs that I had managed to put on last week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/03/2018 22:12

Place that’s great, and I totally agree about being cooped up. We’ve definitely got cabin fever. I think we’ll attempt to get out tomorrow, even just for a quick walk. Dh and I trekked to the supermarket and back for supplies while in laws watched the dc so at least we saw outside the 4 walls!

I was 11.5.5 this morning, so another pound or so off, although I have had a no-count day today. Quick total up suggests 1500 cals, although that is based on a few guesstimates! It feels like we’ve had the weekend already, so I’ll have to really rein it in now!

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 02/03/2018 23:18

bear I know what you mean about feeling like you've had the weekend already. Snowdays can be very disorienting.
I bought some coconut flour ages ago and am going to try baking with it tomorrow but that's as far as I've got with a plan for indoor activities.
Congratulations on losing another pound. You're having fantastic results! Flowers

RarelyInfallible · 03/03/2018 06:22

Just finished week 4 and have lost 6.5kg, just over a stone. We’re currently away for the weekend with a big group of people and, although I’m not missing alcohol at all, I’m really craving bread for the first time.

veryveryquietly · 03/03/2018 13:36

This is the kind of weather that calls for big crusty bread and hot chocolate, isn't it. Have definitely been hitting the hot chocolate. Options is not too horrible in terms of cals though, and is decent (not amazing, but satisfies the hot cocoa urge). Have also been souping it up, though have a new salmon recipe to try for tonight.

Crazy funny non-scale victory this week: my usual tights kept falling down at work all day Thursday, as they are now too big. Undies are too, and the combination meant that they kept moving southward every time I left my desk. It was way too cold to take them off entirely, so I kept hiding in my office to hoick them back up again! The walk home from work, I ended up with them down to my knees, but fortunately was wearing a long dress and longer coat so not visible to the outside world. Yikes!

lasttimeround · 03/03/2018 13:45

Sorry complete novice question. Is there a trick to eating just 800cals a day? It seems like something that would just cause me to binge eat.

veryveryquietly · 03/03/2018 14:31

Hi lasttime for me one thing that helps is lots and lots of herbal tea in a variety of flavours. Warm water plus interesting flavours help sate the munchy urges, esp in the afternoon and evening.

Also, though it sounds like it shouldn't work, I do better when I skip breakfast, and try to do all my eating in a window between 12 noon and 8 pm. Esp if I have a good dinner I'm satisfied. I always have the urge to eat when I first wake up, but if I get past that, with the help of some coffee, I can hold out till 11:30 or 12 noon, and then eat a decently sized lunch. Sometimes I have a v late breakfast (yogurt and blueberries) at 11:30 then real lunch at 1.

Also helps for me to have lots of protein plus some fat in my lunch - marinated chicken breast on salad leaves and some roasted green veg, with a dressing made with full fat yogurt or creme fraiche, seems to do it for me. Then I have some almonds and/or cheese for late afternoon munchies, and that gets me to a good, solid dinner quite nicely.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 03/03/2018 15:47

rarely 6.5kgs is great - well done! Enjoy your time with your friends.
lasttime I agree with very eating later usually helps me to keep on track. The earlier I start eating, the more I want to eat. The only exception to that rule is if I make lunch my main meal of the day - then I can have a small breakfast and a small salad for dinner.

veryveryquietly · 03/03/2018 18:41

yes congrats rarely

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/03/2018 18:45

Last time yes, I ageee, I hold off eating for as long as possible, usually 11 or 12 at least. Also, don’t be afraid of fat, don’t choose low fat products to increase the quantity you can eat- go full fat everything. It really does work.
