Here's thread seven for the Blood Sugar Diet followers.

It's 5 weeks and 5 days until school breaks up (may vary by region!) so let's get those bodies lean for Summer!

Continuing thread for Blood Sugar Dieters:
Phase 1 lasts 2 - 8 weeks and involves restricting calories to 800 a day. Eating healthy fats is encouraged as is limiting carby foods (no specific guideline on this but some people aim for under 50g), small amounts of complex carbs are allowed but should be balanced ideally with green veg, protein and fat to lower the glycemic load and reduce the effect on blood sugar.

Totally rude not to!!
With you on the changed toilet habits Confused
My body's natural weight appeared to be 16 4 fir years but am trying to remind it that in younger years I was always 12 4 or 13 10. I'd like to see 13 10 again....

tobee · 12/07/2017 18:03

Btw I have two heaped teaspoons of flaxseed on my brekkie every day so god knows what I'd be like otherwise. ConfusedBlushShockGrin

I have a new favourite thing! Sour cream.... Had it on texmex mince on Monday, and then tonight added it to my Moroccan beef because it was too spicy. It just makes everything taste that bit more rich. I'd not had it before this week I don't think, so it's nice to find something to give my tastebuds a treat.

Kitchen closed today on 900 cals and 33g carbs. But and its a big but, Dh has ordered from a wine club this month, as our wine habit was becoming v pricey (we don't drink much, maybe two bottles a week, but our palettes are changing and the price is increasing. £15 a bottle is ridiculous imo! ) So, 12 bottles of red wine from Laithwaites has arrived today and I know he will have a glass tonight. It remains to be seen whether we will simply drink more or whether we will spend less.....

you are doing so well newaverage - we have the same thing when we shop at Costco - they do delicious roasted unsalted nuts which in theory are cheaper but irresistible so gone in a flash.

Oblomov I have been meaning to post and say well done on your blood results!

I am eating like a woman possessed at the moment. I think its because I want to go below my natural happy weight and my body is rebelling.

Evening all
Question: I have messed up my meal plans slightly and just had fish curry (amazingly lovely) was supposed to be having chicken curry tomorrow. I don't want double curry can I have your best BSD chicken recipes please??

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2017 19:34

Oooooh chicken, Parma ham and pesto is a classic in our house. You can stuff with other stuff if you don't have pesto in.

So disappointed in myself. Made it to week 7 day 5 before caving in to dessert tonight. Main course was on plan, chicken salad but then the its your birthday, desert won't hurt today comments started, I caved so easily. Hoping my one dessert won't have added to many lbs back on Blush

Flibbertyjibbit · 12/07/2017 21:12

I did a chicken and crispy bacon salad the other night ktd bit of avocado and some nice leaves. Was great. Or we do the parma ham chicken breast quite often with roasted veg in same pan, only one pan to wash up then.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2017 21:28

Flibberty it won't. Get back on it tomorrow. It's not the one slip that does the damage, it's the 'I've blown it so I might as well eat a packet of hobnobs and 3 curly wurlys'

You'll be fine, you've done so well.

Sorry to be dim, but how do you know what your happy weight is?

tobee · 12/07/2017 21:46

Ktd dh and I had a ginger chicken recipe last night if that appeals? It had root, ginger, onion, garlic, tomato purée and soy sauce. It was quick and yummy. I could go into further detail if anyone's interested? Second time eating it here.

KTD27 · 12/07/2017 22:07

Tobee yes please!
Also Parma ham and pesto sounds delightful!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2017 22:21

Tobee for me it's just the weight I naturally stick at. It's also around the weight where I really struggle to get past it (ie now- I'm 11.9, I reckon this is my body's ideal weight) and every diet I have ever done I have struggled to get below this weight without some serious effort and I'm very lazy

I guess it could change throughout your life, ie. As you age perhaps your natural Weight increases due to metabolic changes.

tobee · 13/07/2017 01:39

I served mine with green salad and cauli rice and dh had noodles.

tobee · 13/07/2017 01:41

Going by that I used to think 71kg but I'm not sure now. Especially as I work in stone now! Grin

ExConstance · 13/07/2017 07:21

I've lost 13lb now, in 4 weeks 3 days. It is so important to me now that it has become routine. Breakfast is either avocado and poached egg or home made yoghurt with berries and 5 almonds. For lunch a box of interesting salad with some Quorn sausage or tofu or cottage cheese with horseradish and lentils. I usually have apricots or strawberries. For dinner it is whatever the family are having but without carbs and with lots of veg and a few berries to finish off. This way of eating is really suiting me I've got plenty of energy and feel very well.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/07/2017 07:40

Morning all

Today weighed in at 11.8.8 which means I've had my first official loss in bloomin ages as I've been gaining and relosing the same few pounds over and over. This is my lowest weight now on this round! Woo hoo!

Going out for lunch today though, so will need to keep my focus because the friend I'm going with is very adept at leading me astray into the dessert menu.

Good Morning Bear Sounding good, can't wait to join you in the 11 somethings one day!
Gosh - loving this way of eating (and it's effects).
For the first time on a diet and there have been many diets Angry I am wondering if I could indeed do this style eating for the long term.
Nearing the end of week 4 and 23lbs down with 12cm off waist.

ExConstance · 13/07/2017 11:18

yoohoo - I'm pleased with my 13lb but you have managed 23 in much the same time - what are your tips?

yoohooitsme · 13/07/2017 12:25

Honestly I am a seasoned dieter and have never had such a result I think it just a case of having A LOT to loose, so easier to get a dramatic start, combined with sticking faithfully as I can to the eating plan, I average 10k steps a day, no HIIT as yet, some meditation to keep me calm and weekly pilates class.

Watching The Bitter Truth and other Prof Lustig videos on Youtube to keep focussed on the science and also the reasons why I feel that I must stick to this really.

ExConstance · 13/07/2017 13:48

Ah, exercise. I'm afraid one yoga class a week is it for me at present, though I have just ordered a new bicycle. I must stick to it as well, don't want to be lurching into my more senior years with health Issues ( of which I fortunately have none yet) looming. Another former colleague died this week of a possible lifestyle related condition, at least I don't smoke or drink.
