My fridge is genuinely empty of anything useful!

I've got about 10 cherry tomatoes, but had some at lunch and any more will give me mouth ulcers.

No peas - they were part of supper. Ham needs to be kept for daughter's packed lunch tomorrow, they're setting off at 6.30am on school trip so I need to prep it tonight.
No onions.

I've got celery. That's it! And as I've just cooked I don't want to do it all again.

It's obviously a VLC day!

tobee · 07/06/2017 19:15

Oh! Yum, bear.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 19:37

What about pudding flighty, could you make some Greek yogurt with berries and just pretend you've eaten your meal and now indulging in dessert too?
I am very impressed with your willpower though, I know what I'd do in your situation!!

JigglyTuff · 07/06/2017 19:37

Oh no flighty! Can't you send your DH out to get you some more eggs at least?

I've gone up to 900 today because I've just eaten 3 slices of Parma ham wrapped round leftover asparagus from lunch. Oh well, it was bloody delicious and I've walked 15k steps. I had Heck sausages for dinner which were very nice but really too many calories for not enough fullness I think

tobee · 07/06/2017 19:41

I've decided I'm going to look like this for summer. But without the scowl.GrinGrin

Sat in the car, in the rain, waiting for ds2 to run round field with hubby. Am struggling to drink enough being back at work properly, but regardless of any weight loss this week, I need to note that I am feeling better AND am sat in car without coffee, without secret stash of something munchable - though I am looking forward to salmon and scrambled eggs when we get in!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 19:44

I'm intrigued and somewhat pleased to notice that even that model has the annoying 'armpit boob' thing going on- I have this no matter how much weight I lose, and it is the bane of my life.

OP posts:
Flightywoman · 07/06/2017 19:59

I found a cupasoup at the back of the cupboard.

That's it! There is nothing else that isn't carbs or requiring preparation and cooking.

Cupasoup it is...

Flightywoman · 07/06/2017 20:01

Isn't armpit boob the result of ill-fitting bras though?

I get it with some but other bras are cut high enough to give proper coverage...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 20:04

I don't know flighty I just cannot get rid of it no matter what bra size I wear, it's been a mission of mine for years. I always assumed it was untoned skin that sort of escaped! Reassuring to see that the model has it; maybe it will become a 'thing' like bushy eyebrows and everyone will want one.....!

alteredimage · 08/06/2017 10:25

Bear, Rigby and Pellet for me! I went up to a huge cup size during pregnancy and never really lost it. If I do lose the weight, I suspect very little will be cup size. My experience is that a well fitted bra makes a big difference (and that the M&S fitting service is very hit and miss.)

Scales say 3 lbs heavier this morning. How can that be!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/06/2017 12:05

I find the armpit bulge is dependent on the bra too - not just the size but also the cup design.
I'm still maintaining here. Nothing exciting to add.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/06/2017 16:24

Just bought this in tesco- it's 'pasta' made from lentil flour- I'm guessing it's ok in moderation. It is, however, quite painful on the calories front, with an 80g dried portion costing 283cals and 46g carbs. (The equivalent real pasta portion 75g dried making 180g cooked, comes in at 280 cals and 56g carbs).
I'm craving stodgy comfort food so i might try a half portion with bolognese sauce tonight, but I can't see it becoming a menu staple at that high a count!

oooo - bear that lentil pasta sounds good, I might wait to try that once I have finished my 8 weeks - feeling rather proud I managed to say no to all cakes while out having coffee with a friend. Opted for a soya latte as less carbs in soya milk. Didn't fancy a black coffee today, needed something warm & comforting with this torrential rain, soya latte was actually really nice.

Day 13 here - 697 calorie/day and 25g carb/day average so far, really pleased with that. Starting to feel good, more energy. Might even consider dropping 0.5mg of steroid next week, will see how I feel. Would be nice to drop a few mg by end of summer.

alteredimage, I gained back 0.9kg so it does look like weight fluctuates quite a lot. I've now lost the 0.9kg and a bit more, I am weighing daily and keeping a log in spreadsheet. I am trying to trust that this works, so as long as you stick to the plan of 800cals a day then it will come off, just not as we might expect it too.

Flightywoman · 08/06/2017 17:39

I've just bought some Livlife bread which is only 3.8g of carbs and 68 cals per slice and is higher protein.

I'm going to freeze it so I can't binge on it but OMG! BREAD!

PinkBlossomTree · 08/06/2017 18:33

Oh my pasta, how I've missed you.
Those no carb noodles just don't do it.

I really don't know what to do. All along this diet it was to end today as I'm going to a wedding reception tomorrow and planned on buffet and wine.

BUT now it's nearly here I don't know what to do???

A) enjoy it have the night off and back on it Saturday.

B) drink Diet Coke and eat before I go?

I don't want to undo what I've achieved but is a night off really worth it?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/06/2017 18:45

Pink I'd have the night off and enjoy it, then get back on plan the next day. Realistically, you might gain a pound or so, but that's all. You might notice 'water weight' the morning after, but it won't be real weight gain. How many calories could you actually consume in one wedding reception? Keep the basic principles (eg don't have sugary drinks and dessert and cake and bread etc) but if it was me I would go and enjoy myself.

I wimped out of the pasta. It would have tipped me up to almost 1000 cals and 70g carbs so I didn't think it was worth it unplanned, but now i have got it in the cupboard I will plan it in for next week on a day when I have a lighter lunch.
I'm dreading the weekend a bit. I always come unstuck, tomorrow i have the rare luxury of a child free lunch as well. I must follow my advice above ^^ and try to stick to the basics.

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/06/2017 18:47

Pink decide tomorrow and judge it when you're there. I've had nights off for celebrations but I've also had nights and lunches where I've realised I wanted to stick to BSD eg I had lunch with friends yesterday but I didn't eat carbs and didn't drink alcohol. I have another lunch out tomorrow but the restaurant has a fab, varied menu so I don't think I'll end up being carb-heavy there either.
It's so easy to pick BSD back up so even if you do decide to indulge, don't worry about it. Just pick it up again the next day.

Flightywoman · 08/06/2017 19:22

I've had a range of days off Pink, some COMPLETELY off with booze and everything else, some where I've gone off plan a little, and I've not suffered dreadfully for it really - if you want to keep going you can, easily, but you can stop as planned too and no-one's going to think badly of you!

For a wedding I'd enjoy it, not go mad, and then think about what I'd like my next step to be in the days afterwards.

Oblomov17 · 08/06/2017 19:24

Pink, see how you feel. Either have a night off, or a couple of drinks wont hurt - like others say you might get a bit of water bloat the day or so after, but within 2 or 3 days, it will recover.

Bear, I too am craving stodgy comfort. see later in my post.

Dh and I did fast, on Tuesday, for breakfast and lunch. But then we gave in and had a dinner. But then I ate a biscuit!! Angry 535 calories.

Yesterday, all good, yogurt and blueberries, edamame bean salad, steak stir fry. But in the afternoon, I drank a hot chocolate. without even thinking. or realising. how stupid is that? and that in itself was 327 calories!!!!!!! so, I was way over at 1030.

Today: (I am at work now, eating dinner, because I completely forgot ds2 was off school for polling day - so when dh came home, I came to work)
yogurt and blueberries, left over steak stir fry, but then I craved stodge so for dinner (now) I pulled out of the freezer some peppers and feta, and some stodgy celeriac mash.

God the stodge of celeriac mash REALLY hit the spot. and the salty feta tasted really good. 640 calories.

I have no idea if I've lost weight this week. I have TRIED to drink more water. But actually I fear it isn't working. I don't think I've lost anything. I can just feel it. Odd.

But I read earlier posts, of you ALL saying you weigh every day. I only weigh weekly. Or when I think I've lost weight, so I can see a BIG difference. I like/prefer to step on and see 4 or 5 lbs gone. yeah right!!

Flibbertyjibbit · 08/06/2017 20:12

How far into the 8 weeks are you Pink? I'm in week 2 day 6 and don't feel I can "trust" myself to go off plan as yet. But that is because I have a history of starting a diet, letting myself relax for an occasion then thinking oh another day wont hurt, and oh one more day...You might feel stronger that relaxing for the wedding and then re-starting is doable for you. I do have my 30th birthday in my week 8, so plan to give myself that day off Grin

Flighty that bread looks awesome, did it taste ok?

PinkBlossomTree · 08/06/2017 20:27

I'm 3 weeks 5 days in.

I will probably go off plan but limit it to 2 drinks and a little buffet. I've just looked on MFP and Malibu and Coke is only 53 cals for diet. I will be a right miserable cow otherwise but if I drink too much I end up chatting utter rubbish.

My issue is if I don't restart the next day I will put on loads. History of that so if I do it I aim to report in Saturday and keep to my word.

Thanks everyone

Flightywoman · 08/06/2017 20:36

I've not tried it yet Flibberty! I'm going to have toast tomorrow...will let you know.

Apart from cups of tea I'm closing the day on 717 cals, 59g carbs.

I had breakfast at 6.30am, then nothing till lunch at around 3pm - because I was away from my office where my lunch was! I was STARVING by then!

PhyllisWig · 08/06/2017 21:42

End of day 3 here and going well. I've had between 800 - 850 cals each day and my carbs are dropping to beneath 50g.

Had a really headachey day yesterday but fine today. I inadvertently fasted as well due to horrific work day travelling all over the shop but managed to avoid the train fruitcake which I love so am v proud of myself.

Daily weighing indicates 3lb off already BUT that's not unusual for me if I cut back after a week of too much food - all water weight. The proof of the pudding will be how I'm doing at the end of week 2.

I am struggling a tiny bit with quick options for when I get in late. Eggs are the obvious but I like eggs for breakfast. Maybe stir fry.

PinkBlossomTree · 08/06/2017 21:53

Flighty that bread looks amazing. Where did you find that. That's very low carb.

Phyliss great job on reaching day 3, take some tablets before bed and you should wake up feeling great! That's a amazing loss already.

I do a lot of egg based dishes, or for quickness turkey breast and mushroom stirfry and I occasionally add no carb noodles with some soy sauce.
My absolute favourite meal is what I call deconstructed enchiladas. Turkey, pan full of peppers 1/2 onion with Mexican seasoning. I eat that a lot and it's super quick.
If your a fish person, also loved smoked salmaon and salad. Instant yummyness.
