Thanks newaverage - that's a really positive way of looking at it. I think I've come in at just under 800cals today.

I don't think I'll weigh myself tomorrow but will do it on Friday instead.

Am starting a new job next Monday so am going to have to be mega organised this week and batch cook things because I know I'm going to be knackered after work and the temptation to eat toast may overwhelm me if I can't eat soon after getting home!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 06/06/2017 19:24

I weigh daily but as a previous poster said, a gain can make me think "feck it" and eat loads. Like today 🙄

Flightywoman · 06/06/2017 19:52

I HAD to have some rice with my dal this evening! I was SO hungry and cold that I needed the carb blanket. It wasn't loads and has done the job...

I am over on carbs but was way under yesterday so aggregate balances out!

PhyllisWig · 06/06/2017 21:35

Well day 1 done and went well. Was barely hungry - had a lovely 'ready to eat' feeling but not starving and my food was really nice. i drank loads of water and herbal tea so got loads of steps in going to the loo. I also listened to my body a bit and for breakfast felt happy just with strawberries and tea which meant I had an afternoon snack of the boiled eggs I brought in for breakfast which worked well.

I'm a daily weigher too - it keeps me accountable. I've learned I retain a good 3 pounds for a couple of days around ovulation for example so don't let that worry me but if I gain with no cause, I can pull the reigns in before the lard gallops away with me.

Perdyboo · 06/06/2017 21:59

I'm weighing daily too, for all the reasons you have all stated!!
Currently standing waiting for pea, mushroom and feta omelette/frittata to cook to put in with green salad for the lunch boxes tomorrow. Hubby is loving that I am rattling pans more - he is doing dinners and I'm in charge of lunches it seems. Past couple of days have been fine, but I can't slip being organised to take yoghurt/fruit bircher breakfast and packed salad into work with me or the canteen that sells nothing of any nutritional value most of the time will suddenly reappear on my radar (have stood at break times this week munching my picnic happily ignoring it).
Welcome newcomers, am only a week in myself. Loving reading all the input :)

Flightywoman · 06/06/2017 23:34

The rice was a big mistake - it triggered a small carb-frenzy of crackers, butter and salted caramel spread.

Won't be doing that again!

I'll still be under my TDEE, but way off 800!!

I have been missing for a few weeks. Gap year DD was home and everything went a bit haywire. Plus DH, who is super busy, took.a week off work so we went to Spain.

The damage has been limited. Somehow I managed not to give up completely, meaning I am a stone lighter after six weeks. I would be delighted if I lost the same over the next six weeks, though my current target is to get below the 12st mark.

I can now hold my stomach in a lot more. It means my tummy has gained a life of its own and wobbles as I walk, which must look a bit strange. As if someone has strapped an odd fat cushion to my front. But good.

tobee · 07/06/2017 01:21

altered has slightly answered my question there, but those who have lost many pounds in a really short time, how does it feel? You must feel amazing! What differences do you notice?

AuntieMay · 07/06/2017 07:37

Arghh! Two biscuits jumped into my mouth at work yesterday, was a full day there and manic followed by a trip to Newcastle to pick up my eldest for end of year at uni total damage was 980 calories with 95g carbs - will it affect weight loss?
Cross with myself but it was one of those days, had prevent training over lunch and it was all a bit depressing - real even after recent events.
So I've got up and gone to boot camp this morning for 45 minutes of Hiit exercises - first time in over 2 months as I've been injured so hoping that counter acts the biscuits .

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 07:48

Morning all!
Contrary to what I said yesterday about daily weighing, I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 4.5lb (so I'm 11.13.5). Been here before though so really must keep my head on.
In answer to your question tobee, in my first round I lost 21lb in the 8 weeks, and most of that was in the first 3-4 weeks. It was so quick that it took a lot of time for people to actually notice! All my clothes fitted better and I was wearing jeans that I had ordered while still pregnant and has actually made me cry when I saw how small they were. It's not a massive amount but it was really life changing for me, but I cannot fathom why I then stopped the plan and ended up putting it back on!

I think in the grand scheme of things 2 biscuits won't be the worst, as long as you don't fall in to the "it's all gone to rat shit, I'm now going to eat the kitchen, I'm such a failure" frame of mind.

Over a whole week I would hope it doesn't affect you too much - no-one hits 800/50g every day, surely?!

Coffeeandcrochet · 07/06/2017 08:30

I'm coming back to this thread to try again...had a great first week just before the bank holiday weekend and then it all went to pot Blush I was hoping to get straight back after my cycling-holiday-carb-fest but instead I was totally derailed.

The last couple of days I've been cutting down on the carbs and cals and I reckon I'll be fully back on plan by tomorrow. Am really bloody hungry already so it's going to take some serious willpower Confused I've been reading through the thread to inspire me!

pico1 · 07/06/2017 08:40

Back on after a lovely, indulgent weekend. Feeling groggy this morning but it'll pass. I might experiment with lunch and dinner this week rather than three small meals. Will weigh at the end of the week.

PinkBlossomTree · 07/06/2017 09:02

Tobee I'm not sure if mines super fast, I've just hit a stone off today in 3 weeks 2 days. For me it's silly things I've noticed. My rings are loose, my watch is too big now.

The biggest thing for me is my face. We only had poxy tiny mirrors in our house until this weekend I had full length mirrored wardrobes installed and as soon as I saw them it wasn't ooh lovely wardrobes it was look at my face.

Clothes fit a lot better but as we see ourselfs each day I dont think we notice it as much as others would that perhaps haven't seen you for a while.

I stupidly forgot to take before photos so would urge everyone else too but I did measurements and have lost a few inches from waist, tummy and legs.

alteredimage · 07/06/2017 09:09

Bear, well done. I weigh 3 lbs more than you. Clothes are looking better on me, but I reckon the next stone will make a lot of difference. Losing some makes me realise how fat needs to go.

The book, though supposedly an 8 week diet, recommends you review after each two weeks and if it is two much, drop back to 5:2 or a med diet. This is effectively what I did and was pleased to maintain the loss I achieved in the first two weeks.

I've now read the gut book as well and so cider vinegar, the odd square of dark chocolate, Roquefort, miso, mackerel and Kim chi are all making their appearance. Interesting. For the first couple of days my stomach felt like a chemical factpry bubbling away. It is noticeable that these are mainly strong flavours so you don't want much.

Again I will keep calories low for two weeks and review. I am hoping things will be quieter so I will be able to carry on. It's really useful to know that weight can be lost quickly, without feeling wiped out or hungry.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 09:27

This time I definitely need to tone up as I lose though; last time I was recovering from a terrible pregnancy and a c-section, this time there's no excuse really. I walk quite regularly pushing the pushchair, but I'm also aiming to do 30 days of shred across the 8 weeks. Frankie Boyle was interviewed a few weeks back and he described his body as 'a dropped lasagne' and I totally understood!! I've never been a gym bunny but I really need the headspace as well as the fitness.

Thanks for peoples replies to my nosy question. Must be especially uplifting who have found weight loss elusive so far. My paltry 6 pound loss has resulted in my wedding ring being a bit loose and my left cheekbone being slightly more pronounced. HmmConfusedGrin

Coffeeandcrochet · 07/06/2017 16:46

Ugh, I'm really struggling today. When I've fasted in the past I've found it best to skip breakfast and have a late lunch - normally I have no problems holding out until 2pm as long as I drink plenty. Today I had a handful of pistachios at 11 and had finished my lunch (soup) by 12.30! Now my stomach is growling again Sad

APlaceOnTheCouch · 07/06/2017 16:51

tobee I've had to stop wearing my rings - they all slip off now. I'm waiting to see if I can maintain before I get them re-sized.

tobee · 07/06/2017 17:17

Can you get a ring keeper, couch?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 17:56

Finishing the day and closing the kitchen on 930 cals, 37g carbs. Slightly over, but food has been yummy so I'm not too concerned

What are the lunch and dinners bear?

Flightywoman · 07/06/2017 18:26

I was quite looking forward to my supper. It's a shame my husband just accidentally knocked mine onto the floor and now I have nothing to eat. Sad
And I can't eat his because it's largely potatoes.

It was the last 2 eggs so can't knock up a quick egg thing. We're out of salad. I have no meat defrosted. And I don't want to cook all over again - I've just done that for the last 40 minutes.

Oh well.

tobee · 07/06/2017 18:50

Oh flighty Sad!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/06/2017 19:07

Could you rustle up a platter flighty, with cold meat, cheese etc?
Or whizz up some stock, some frozen peas, a slice of ham and a bit of onion into a pea and Ham soup?

Tobee my lunch was a flat mushroom with ham and cheese, and my dinner was a chicken breast spread with pesto and sprinkled with cheese and then baked.
