They are just 'out'- to be honest if you follow the menu plans it doesn't seem to affect the results. But some of the individual recipes if you input the actual ingredients you use into mfp you get very different totals to what's in the book!

I've fluked my fish-but-no-chips last night and sts overnight. Possibly because I walked a lot yesterday.

Staying on it today for WI tomorrow, and I think I'm doing korma tonight so that will keep the cals down. I'll probably have veg with it as I really can't be doing with cauliflower rice!

Batbear · 21/05/2017 12:29

DS1 (6) has always been a tricky eater. He's started watching me and so today I am having sandwiches with the DCs to keep him eating normally.

Looks like it's weekday fasting for me for the moment

tobee · 21/05/2017 14:58

bear I'm sure this has been said elsewhere, but is that the Jamie Oliver Superfoods series?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2017 15:25

Tobee i do use the superfoods book- there's some nice salads in there and there's a butternut squash snd chicken Laska curry which is amazing. Some recipes include carbs so I have to recalculate minus rice or potatoes. The 15 and 30 mins books have some nice things too. I have used them a lot, really flavoursome food- but like with any recipes, you need to tweak them to make them truly BSD friendly. Good for ideas though.

My favourites are Hugh F-W's Veg and the vegan ones by Isa Chandra Moscowitz. They're both good for recipes that you can do without carbs.

tobee · 21/05/2017 17:02

Thanks bear and flighty.

PinkBlossomTree · 21/05/2017 19:16

Last meal of week 1 down and I end today on 772 cals / 35g carbs.

I've done low carb before and used to make such bland same meals over and over but I've been craving fajitas all week so I did turkey with peppers and onions with a bit of fajita seasoning mix. Was lovely and I didn't miss the wraps at all as it tasted exacally the same even without the salsa. Will definitely be having that meal again in the week.

Excited for what tomorrow morning brings.

Flightywoman · 21/05/2017 19:21

I've made korma for us - quorn instead of chicken to suit the vegetarian (it ain't me!).

There's a korma recipe on Jamie Oliver's forum which is really delicious - I substitute Sainsbury's creamy quark for the yogurt which cuts the calories right down and leaves room for the coconut oil, creamed coconut and ground almonds.

It's sooooo good!

And I've walked LOADS today again too. I had an ice cream for lunch, tub not cone, so I've got the calories for a gin if I fancy. And I think I do!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2017 20:33

I might try that flighty I really get the urge for a proper korma sometimes? Probably for the sweet taste of it.

I've not counted cals today, eaten a fair bit, and now having a glass of red wine but everything's been on plan. I've been to another kids party and resisted party food (not difficult- I just look at their grubby little paws on everything and it puts me right off!). Half dreading weighing in tomorrow after 3 days of eating lots, but I had a good week up til Friday so it might not be you horrendous.

Forecast is for a glorious week here, so I'll be getting out for walks and in the garden, plus it's salad weather isn't it, so hopefully a good week ahead too!

PinkBlossomTree · 21/05/2017 20:53

That korma sounds beautiful flighty have you got a link? Did you use rice? I've been thinking about a curry all week since buying the barenaked rice as it's so plain it needs something to jazz it up.

Good call on the quark, yuk screams slimming world that does. What yoghurt did you use?

Flightywoman · 21/05/2017 21:31

It's this one Pink
www.jamieoliver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=27153

The first time, I used ordinary natural yog, but last time and today I used the quark as that was what I had and it really works - only the Sainsbury's creamy one though, it's got the same consistency as yogurt and it hasn't split on me either time.

Flightywoman · 21/05/2017 21:32

I had it without rice, it's thick enough to work without.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 22:36

Can I join in please? I have packed on just over a stone quite quickly from comfort eating after a rather spectacular fail on a last ditch effort to save my marriage after STBXH's affair and I want to lose it again asap.

I'm currently on day two, and I've been drinking green tea rather than water, and just over three litres per day, is that OK or does it have to be just water?

Bringmewineandcake · 21/05/2017 23:40

Today I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm for...anything 😂
So I had a diet shake for breakfast, chilli cheese eggs for lunch, and cheesy baked beans for dinner! Not a courgette or pumpkin seed in sight! Total cals 691 which will balance out over the week with a few days that were 850/860.
Loupgarou green tea would be fine (unless you're adding honey of course!)
Weigh in tomorrow Confused I'm also going to do a fasting blood sugar test and waist measurement...

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 21/05/2017 23:46

Weekends. Argh.

Not diabetic or pre-diabetic but needed a kick up the arse for a wedding in a few weeks. Read the book as I'd peaked at 13st9 at one point last month, though was hovering around 13st4 most of the time. Got down to 12st11 but have had a pig out weekend and expect to be back over 13st in the morning. Gah. 500cal day planned for tomorrow, and if I can stick to sub-1000 on weekdays I should see a loss I hope! I have really enjoyed trying out the recipes from the original book though. I've even learned to love salad (as long as there's no lettuce in sight).

Can I ask about BSD and exercise? I have a half marathon next month and have struggled with my most recent long runs. Not sure if it's lack of fitness or diet related. Any tips welcome!

LoupGarou · 22/05/2017 00:10

Brilliant thanks Bring me nope just plain green tea. I don't like this taste but it always seems to give me masses of energy.

PinkBlossomTree · 22/05/2017 07:59

1st weigh in and I'm.... 7lbs down.

I can't believe it, I was really confused at first as I didn't notice the first digit had changed
Was 10 st 5 BMI 25.8
Today 9 st 12 BMI 24.6

Out of all the low carb diets I ever done and I do one pretty much each year that is the best first week loss I've ever had and this time round I'm nowhere near as heavy as previous years.

Oblomov17 · 22/05/2017 08:06

Good luck for WI's everyone.
I have put on 1 lb!! Angry Yes, I know weekends are my downfall: Holy Communion party .... wine... but I had been mostly good the rest of the week. Very good with my meal planning. All week. Bugger.

Will have to be stricter.

Oblomov17 · 22/05/2017 08:07

Well done Pink!! That change from 10 to 9 is what I am seeking!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2017 08:29

Well my weekend has brought me back up to a total loss last week of 3lb- not awful, but i so wish I could be as good at the weekend as I am in the week. Currently 12,0 so again, teetering around that stone bracket. Dammit.

Holiday on Friday so I'm going to try my best this week, try not to go too mad while I'm away, and then gear myself up for a strict blast of about 6-8 weeks before the summer. I think this is going to mean giving up my weekend wine! Booooooo!

OP posts:
Bringmewineandcake · 22/05/2017 09:01

I've lost 4 and 3/4lb Grin
I've also changed my BMI from just over the overweight line, to back into the normal range section.
My fasting blood sugar has gone from 5.1 to 4.4 mmol.
I only lost 1/2 inch off my waist though. Didn't do any exercise as such last week although I did move more in general. Will probably have to do some real exercise this week in order to improve my waist measurement!
Well done Pink and bear, fingers crossed for a happier result for you this week Oblomov

Flightywoman · 22/05/2017 10:48

My total loss this week is 2 3/4 lbs. so I've just tipped over into the next stone down and have lost 13 3/4 lbs in 3 weeks and knocked 2 points off my BMI (even though BMI is a total crock!)

Onwards!

Avocado toast for breakfast today, and as it's late I'll call it brunch and all will be fine!

Have no idea about tea/supper yet, it might be pasta for them...

APlaceOnTheCouch · 22/05/2017 11:50

Well done everyone Flowers Some amazing results!
I ate lots all weekend but am ok so far today admittedly it's only 12pm so plenty of time left to eat too much Wink

Oblomov17 · 22/05/2017 12:11

Lunch. Chicken tikka and salad.
