Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

You're doing great cig, 10 pound over 15 days is excellent. You can drop a lot the first week or so but also regain quickly so don't worry. It's a marathon not a race.

Well done on your losses Oroch and Clg

Today is World Chocolate Day and our wedding anniversary. I have a faint suspicion this may be the second treat day of the week for me Grin

Orochimaru · 07/07/2016 15:25

Went for a bike ride and feel better now, but hungrier :D
Well done on weight loss Cig
Good luck with your weigh in Not2, not sure I would be able to weigh myself on holiday!
My peanut butter doesn't have any sugar, just peanuts and oil, just need to make sure I don't eat the whole jar at once

H3l3naGraham · 07/07/2016 18:47

Sounds like you are doing very well not2be - I indulged too, it is a holiday after all! The swimming pool or sea will help your ankle, as non-weight bearing exercise, then you can just lounge by the pool with a glass of Cava. Or 2.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/07/2016 10:15

I decided to check my measurements this morning because there is a dress online that I have fallen in love with but I had to measure to see what size I would be. Drum roll, fanfare, I have lost 14 inches since I started in April.
Sadly that makes me a 12 and the beautiful dress is only available in a 10 but I am happy with the inch loss.

Not2bObvious · 08/07/2016 12:46

Would you have to lose much more to fit in it place? Could it be a goal dress? Well done you! Arrived at beach part of holiday, vv hot. Off for lunch with icy vino 😉

What a stunning result couch I can just picture the size of your smile!! : )

APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/07/2016 13:45

Not2b I decided it could be a goal dress and bought it. Eek! I have a feeling it will end up hanging in pride of place in the dressing room and I will visit it occasionally Part of the problem is that all the models on the website have very boyish figures so it is actually impossible to imagine what the clothes will look like on curves. But it is beautiful and part of it is velvet so I may stroke it occasionally too. Grin

Enjoy the heat and the icy vino Wine

Orochimaru · 08/07/2016 14:07

14 inches! That is incredible, well done :D

APlaceOnTheCouch · 08/07/2016 14:39

Thank you H3l3na and Oroch

I did have a big smile on my face. I tend not to focus too much on measurements because I worry I don't measure exactly the same way each time but even allowing for a bit of lee-way, it is still quite a difference.

I'm 2/3 of the way to my target weight which also feels quite good.

Oblomov16 · 08/07/2016 14:41

Well done couch. Order the dress. It can be returned.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/07/2016 14:58

Fantastic well done, I also would say order the dress, it might fit.

Not2bObvious · 08/07/2016 17:47

I have faith in you place, you'll be wearing that dress v soon. Its so hot here, but due to my pasty Irish skin, I've had to resort to a touch of instant tan to pull off my outfit tonight. Eating at a fabulous (read prices!) restaurant tonight so getting all dolled up. Into my tres en-trend palazzo pants & cami top. Well I think it's en-trend but hells if I know! My uniform these days are skinnies & a fleece, don't miss casual corporate too much

Sorry for asking so many questions but does anyone have any experience with donating blood on this diet? I am donating on Friday and was planning to eat normal amount of calories that day but should I eat more the day before as well? Any suggestions?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2016 08:19

Sorry orochimaru no experience of that, have you looked on the proper BSD forum on his website?
I'm literally cruising through by the seat of my pants at the moment, just about managing to limit damages to a half pound over, and then clawing it back with a few good days. So no real weight loss to speak of, although a few pounds over the last month. I cannot seem to get my head back in the game, get that clear BSD head back on. I keep planning meals, but its the occasional pickings that is tipping me over the edge I shall say nothing about the crusty white bread and pâté and all the time in the background is the gentle tick tock of the holiday countdown clock, gradually getting louder and louder....
I'm still weighing in at slimming world each week, which is a habit I can't seem to break, and yesterday I'd gained a pound, although that is my first gain since 9th March. I went to a different group and the leader did an excellent talk about mindfulness and visualisation which was very interesting. So today, children permitting, I am going to visualise myself in my size 10 summer clothes saying no to sugar and carbs!
I think on going sufferance with the 'creeping body rot' (y'know when nothing's really wrong but everyday a different bit hurts, today its my throat) plus a few weeks of sleep disturbance from DC isn't helping either. Anyway, I'm off for a cut and colour today so hopefully that will motivate me to continue my mission!

Not2bObvious · 09/07/2016 09:00

Creeping body rot, I love it! I have a bit of that constantly, have to stop myself from telling people about which bit hurts or twinges today!
How many weeks have you been doing bsd place? I do think because the results can be so good, we tend to forget it's only meant to be 8 weeks and then a mix so in fact when you think you've failed in some way by not being strict, you're just living a bit more as you shall when you get too goal - you just started a bit early 😉
Unless you're very very heavy you shouldn't stay on it full pelt for continuous weeks. And you're not heavy at all by the sounds of you. A pound is but a poo, we all know that.
Wrt to blood transfusion, people who aren't big eaters donate I'm sure. Days before just eat a normal amount, higher than bsd but not like you're carb loading for a marathon😁 I don't know for sure but I'd hazard a guess it will be fine having 1200-1600 the 2 days. People who donate often feel faint after, maybe that's why they give the something sweet. Fair play to you, it's a great thing to do.
Holiday going good, meal out was good, fish for main but dessert was naughty. It was once off, only had it because it's our tradition at this restaurant. Came home and was in bed by 10. Zonked by travel & heat yesterday. Was toying with idea of trying a run this morning but too tired and I reckon 2 more day will fix the ankle/foot. Greek yog with cherries & berries planned for breakfast. Wish me luck today my tween is driving me to distraction. V challenging and I'm not coping too well with her, feel my temper bubbling over with her and threats issued minute by minute. Oh god, and I'll have this again then my littler one gets big, will probably coincide with menopause! There's a cheery thought😫

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/07/2016 10:26

Not2b it sounds like you had a lovely meal. No idea what to do about your tween. I am constantly confiscating items from DS at the moment but we have shaken hands on being good friends today Grin

I started BSD in April but was on holiday for the first two weeks so restricted calories but not carbs. Since I finished my 8 weeks, I have been having two treat days per week. I've also introduced more fruit back in. I feel this is my trial and error phase to see if I can still lose whilst not following BSD religiously without falling off it completely.

LolBeansandSalad · 09/07/2016 11:11

Hi everyone

I'm now five and a half weeks in, and have lost 11lb. Slow going, yep but steady. Feeling pleased this morning as I've squeezed into an old pair of size 10 jeans (okay they look a bit skinny and they're supposed to be boyfriend, but who cares they fasten Grin )

A bad thing about being a short arse is that every pound on shows, but one good thing is that any losses can start to show pretty quickly Grin

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/07/2016 11:15

11lbs is excellent! Well done LolBeans and great news about the size 10s. Skinnier are more fashionable anyway Wink

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/07/2016 11:17

That should have said 'skinnies' not skinnier. Skinny jeans are more fashionable . Blooming autocorrect!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2016 11:18

I agree place I am very much in a trial and error phase at the moment. I think we started around the same time? I seem to naturally be having a few good days @ 800-1000 and then a tdee day. I'm lucky because my tdee is quite high (1750), and these means even 1000 every day still results in a small loss. BUT and here's the problem, my tdee day is gradually becoming an 'eat whatever I like day' which is not working for me; its reigniting my love of carbs, taking me over on calories, and making the next few days too difficult. Invariably, I am seeing more carbs creeping in on my 'good ' days as well. I think I need to get my tdee days back to being M- plan rather than just free eating. It sounds so simple when I write it like that! Easy huh?
We must must must remember the hard work we've done and what we've achieved. I've lost over 2 stone, 2.5 dress sizes, and that's since Easter! The hairdresser commented on how soft and shiny my hair was (I left feeling like a glossy Irish setter, as opposed to the gnarly old terrier of old....) , my skin is ridiculously soft. I have noticed a change in my body shape too, as opposed to when I have lost weight before but retained a 'lumpy' physique, I notice that this time some areas of stubborn fat are melting away such as my thighs/ back , and the weight I have left to lose is more evenly distributed. I determined to do this plan for life, so it must accommodate life and all its delicious opportunities ups and downs. I'm trial and erroring to find out how it can work long term, what won't work ever, and how far I can push it and claw back if needs be.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/07/2016 11:53

bear that's so true about the skin and hair too. Although I was saying last week I'd had some spots on my chin (which is very unusual for me) they disappeared. Last week when I visited DM, she commented that my skin and hair were looking lovely. I hadn't noticed the difference really but she definitely did.

I also agree about it being a different type of weight loss. My stomach flattened down much quicker on BSD than it did when I followed Rosemary Conley. Don't get me wrong, it's still not flat but there was a very noticeable difference quite quickly.

My lifestyle is pretty sedentary just now so on my treat days, I can be anything from 800 - 1000 calories but my carbs are high (because I end up eating pizza or crisps!). I also assume that I'm probably about 100 calories over what I record because on a treat day, I might eat two crisps or have a sweet that doesn't make it on to my calorie counting app. One of the differences is that I feel stuffed full and sleepy on about 1000 calories with high carbs.

Looking back over my weekly reports, one of the biggest differences I can see pre and post BSD is that my attitude to snacking has changed. I'm much more likely to eat some nuts or sugarsnap peas now. I definitely view any crisps or chocolate as a treat rather than a daily snack iyswim

Orochimaru · 11/07/2016 18:27

How nice is the chicken and red pepper curry off the official website? I have just yummed it up with cauliflower rice in about three minutes flat :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/07/2016 18:37

I have heard good things about it but haven't tried it yet.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 11/07/2016 19:58

I rave about the chicken and red pepper curry all the time Blush It's so easy and tasty.
I had a manic work day yesterday so ended up with very low calories as I had a handful of peanuts for lunch and chicken traybake for dinner. Woke up this morning to a 3lbs loss but I'm pretty sure it will be back on tomorrow.
