Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

Here's a post on my blog about the use of gram flour. The batter makes a really tasty flatbread/omelette that doesn't need a lot of toppings or added flavourings.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2016 11:38

Thanks bread I might try one of those omelettes.
Today I had a smoothie made with blueberries, yoghurt and milk, with 20g coconut flour as a bit of 'bulk'. Went upstairs to check on the baby sleeping and left it on the worktop, and when I came down my smoothie had turned completely solid so I ate it with a spoon. It was, errrm, odd. Not enough of each flavour, a bit gritty from the coconut, and a waste of a lot of yoghurt calories!

Orochimaru · 05/07/2016 11:47

Can anyone recommend an easy packed breakfast? I am working from 0500 and won't have access to a microwave to make my usual scrambled eggs :(

yumyumpoppycat · 05/07/2016 12:23

Oroch how about if you make a frittata the night before and have it cold for breakfast? Or hard boiled eggs, cold ham and olives, bit of spinach?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2016 12:50

Or do little mini Fritata in a muffin tray? Eggs, cottage cheese, smoked salmon, sprinkle cheddar on the top and bake. Or do egg, goats cheese, pesto. Yummy! My kids love these too so it's a regular brekkie in our house

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2016 14:44

Hola Senora/Senorita (that's the extent of my espanol) It is hot! 38 degrees and sunny. Spent an hour on the run way due to French traffic control, just a new excuse for delays I reckon. Was good on the plane. Although have had some bread with my tapas sangria & wine V sweaty and v tired after a 4am start. But we're here, getting into holiday mode. Kids giving out already, now I know it's a holiday 😉

Fritatta sounds good, I think I will try the muffin ones as I don't have a suitable pan for larger ones :D Off to google recipes, thanks

H3l3naGraham · 05/07/2016 15:30

Have fab hols not2b - sunshine...... Oh we had tonnes of that in Sicily & I hope you do too, am sure you are already chillin' by the pool with a lovely glass of Torres white in your hand, whereas I am back on diet after what amounts to nearly a month of doing stuff, hols, travelling, weekend away etc.

Feel like a lead balloon, liver is probably in need of a bed of its own, a hospital bed.

Am now being very strict.

Am I correct that a gram-flour flatbread recipe has been posted by a kind soul? If not I will do it later as I have a meeting to go to in a nano-second, having done 3 loads of laundry & checking email all morning. Groan.

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2016 16:25

Oh I wish I could find a Torres white, had a disaster with a supposed sauv blac, so sweet my teeth were rocking! Dh trying again so we'll see. The rioja's going down nicely though😉

I'm closing the kitchen, but I'm at 1600 cals oops. Been starving and picking all day! Probably as a result of 2 previously good days no doubt, but I've just cracked and had a Milky Way! I'll blame the fact that I have a bit of a stressful issue coming to a head tomorrow, a teething and grouchy baby who has decided sleep is for wimps, and a 4 yo who is, well, 4. All the flipping time.
Still, 2 days good/one day bad. That means tomorrow is good again! Might try and push myself to 3 good days on the trot though.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/07/2016 17:30

Not2be that sounds heavenly sangria in actual spain Grin (I have only ever had it in dodgey chain restaraunts but Lurve it)

Frittata muffins turned out well!

Newaverage 1600 cals is awesome under the circs, teething is one of the main things putting me off baby no 4 ;)

APlaceOnTheCouch · 05/07/2016 18:14

Have a fab time Not2b Sun and wine sounds like bliss 🍸🍹🍷

H3l3naGraham · 05/07/2016 18:58

Oh a White Rioja, make mine a large one please not2b ...... Only in my mind, 3 dry days ahead then a do on Friday night, but shouldn't be too alcoholic (open air theatre, so will probably need coffee to warm up) and a big day-time BBQ (big official charity event) on Sat, but can easily forego the buns at this type of event. So tonight it's chicken paprika, courtesy of Hairy Dieters with a load of green veg. & no wine.

Have fun in the sun in Spain!

Those frittatas look yummy Oro very nice indeed, don't eat them all in one sitting though!!! Wink

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2016 20:02

Ooh my baby is 7, the sweetest baby 7! My 11 is a total tween but adorable with it (some days😉) The sangria and seco vino blanco is obviously kicking in! 2 sets of patatas bravas- v bold. Run in the morning if I can get up early enough, man it's hot here!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2016 21:14

Pm update: reopened kitchen, ate loads of crap, reclosed kitchen. New calorie total - a lot more than 1600. Probably undone my 2 good days now!

Not2bObvious · 06/07/2016 07:39

Don't worry bear, back on the wagon today. I went over on my ankle last night, uneven paths and high'ish sandals so no run for me but I did a decent walk for about an hour while it was still cool. Really hoping the minor injury heals over the next couple of days as running was to offset the excess alcohol cals. Waiting for the shops to open to buy eggs, no patatas bravas for me today! No hangover thankfully. 24 degrees already and sun beaming. People watching with a coffee halfway through my walk. The glamour and the slimness of most of the women here, although most of them were puffing away. Fags instead of food I guess. Sitting on the roof sipping a icy water while listening to city sounds, simple pleasures ☺️

yumyumpoppycat · 06/07/2016 07:47

Newaverage dont weigh in today just get back on it and weigh in a day or two.

Hope your ankle is better soon not2be.

Not2bObvious · 06/07/2016 08:17

Thanks yum, going to take an anti inflammatory when I get breakfast. Blooming typical, I get to the point of being able to run & I get a silly minor twist - v frustrating

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/07/2016 10:17

Not2b maybe the ankle injury is a sign you have to take it easy and people watch instead Wink

I think fingers crossed and touching wood I may have finally lost the stubborn 0.6lbs that I kept fluctuating last week - hurrah!

I had to abandon the traybake plan last night as I had no tin foil so made the chicken and red pepper curry from the BSD website instead. It is still my favourite BSD recipe. It's amazing!

No menu plan for today which isn't usually a good sign but I'm feeling motivated by my WI this morning so think I should be able to stay good.

Not2bObvious · 07/07/2016 05:40

Oh well done place, I can visualise it fighting & screaming as it evaporated "but, but we belong together!" Adios amigo! Love the sound of the curry, must look it up.
The foot has a nasty looking bruise, so weird that going over on the ankle did this. Still tender and over 19,000 steps added to that but thankfully I can walk fine - it just twinges a bit. This is a real walking city, only one more day & off to the beach part of my hols. I say beach but I probably mean pool as I'm not a fan of sand. Foods still going ok although must admit to cheese puffs & half a doughnut. It's out of my system now, the drinks/eating are my treat this holiday - no need for anything else - I ignored the bread at dinner last night but the chips...wellBoiled egg for breakfast, chicken & Mayo again for lunch

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 07/07/2016 08:56

Not2b you did better than me yesterday. I finished the day with chocolate cake. Cals over 1000 and carbs over 100. So that's one of my treat days for the week.
My alarm didn't go off this morning so I feel like I am going to be playing catch up all day.
I love the sound of your holiday with its two distinct parts - walking then lounging by a pool.

Orochimaru · 07/07/2016 09:14

Its day four and I am feeling a bit crappy today. Fuzzy head and tired, this may be related to the run of early shifts that I have just finished though :) The scales say that I have lost 4 pounds though which is definitely encouraging.

Is peanut butter ok for a snack, just a teaspoon full?

Hope everyone is doing well today :D

Not2bObvious · 07/07/2016 10:28

Yes to teaspoon of pb but not heaped, can be sugary but in that amount I'm sure it's fine. I would say the early shifts coupled with less cals may explain how you feel, but well done on the 4lb, over a quarter of a stone😉 When I get to part 2 of my hols, I'm going to a pharmacy to do a weigh in, I tried this morning but the machine ate my money & did nothing😩 It will be in kgs but I need to keep track

Morning all

I don't get chance to drop in here as often as I like, so I've just had a read through and all your posts are so helpful! I had a really good 10 days and lost 10 pounds, but then had one night out and put 4 of them back on. I chose food well, didn't have dessert, and although I drank I drank a lot less than I could have.

I had a sulk but kept on it - this morning I am back to where I was last Saturday. I'm a bit annoyed as I feel I've lost 5 days of prime pre-holiday weight loss time, but I still have 3 weeks to go.

It's great being able to dip in here and get some encouragement - thanks Smile
